your a saint
I cant unsee the ugg boot scar
The ACR had so much potential, really hoping Franklin armory brings it back right
I own the Bren 2 and i was interested to see how the recoil compares to these other rifles because i was suprised by how incredibly flat it actually shoots. Seeing them shoot it, it looked flatter and quicker than all the other ones.
I waa surprised as well. I replaced the factory BREN 2 muzzle device on my x39 with a warcomp. Couldn't believe how much the Surefire reduced the felt recoil.
@@charleslowrey9309have you had issues with your x39?
@@TCraig00 Yes, I had the stove pipe issue with it being over gassed. Took 18 months for a fix. They initialy sent me a new pistol, then the three hole gas tube. Currently running the HB industries 3 hole gas tube, chrome piston, and gas spring. Been running great for about the past year.
@@TCraig00I had to shoot subs with a supressor until HBI offered all the fixes.
WOW, Great..!!
Having only ever shot the SCAR, I say the Bren2 is the best.
Based uninformed opinion enjoyer.
The Bren is smooth as butter and the bolt release is right by the trigger which is cool. HB does great for aftermarket parts for the Bren, price is a little less for the Bren over the scar. But that’s my biasness for the Bren. Lol
They've proved themselves in Ukraine, they seem like really good rifles, I want to add one to my collection
@talonryckert6084 make sure they've solved the stove piping issues due to its gas system and the plastic pins holding it together... also from what I've heard there's absolutely no extra parts so good luck if you need any.
That Bren 2 really has my attention.
Same, nice price point as well
@@timthomas2191 Have been looking but no 16inch barrel available
@@fredrickvillalobos9621they've got em, they're just hard to find!
Bren 2 is an awesome weapon.. I own 2 of em and they are my favorites.
Definitely taken over as the 2 most used weapons I own. 8" and 14.5
ACR brings me back to the MW2 days.
Two favorite rifles in my collection are the CZ Bren and the SCAR 16.
SIG 516 Patrol.
Built off HK 416 and with man himself who joined Sig team to improve on that design and present 516.
Calcara got both H&K, and Sig engineer's for the 816.
I’m glad I picked up a new 516 back in 2019. They were discontinued not long after.
You have to try the Bren2 in 14". It is much lighter , balance then the 16" because of the pencil barrel. I tried different length before settled on 14" , have it converted to left folder. Shoot like a dream.
Do this… it will be the best value and clear winner when taking in price, trigger, ergo, weight and balance. Owners shooting perspective. I own all the rifle used in this video except the Carmel.
The barrel on the 16" Bren 2 is a chonker making the gun heavier than I'd like. Otherwise it is a great platform
Would have been nice to see the Perun X16 compared. Love my BREN2 x39 since it is finally running right. Swaping out the muzzle device to a surefire warcomp made a big difference in felt recoil. My 805 S1 runs like sewing machine, but you have that reciprocating charging handle to look ouf for.
CZ is developing a DMR version of the Bren 2 for military and law enforcement. No commitment to a commercial version. Yet.
The CZ BREN 2 BR (battle rifle 7.62x51) is on the market already for a couple of years ;)
Love this genre of rifle. I have the Spear and like it. The CZ Bren 2 really speaks to me. Also that Carmel seemed to shoot flatter than most of the others.
They didn't touch on that. I was surprised. That deserved a topic of it's own, looked like the karmel shot the smoothest
Clint in there with the big boys is awesome. Love the content man keep it coming. Love how many different people you bring on.
Still rock my ACR from 2014 to today. I’ve had 1 malfunction with it and that was because of a magazine issue. Other than that it’s been absolutely dependable, I trust my life to that beautiful machinery.
Your ACR is Remington, Bushmaster or Frankling armory?
@@LUIZ.527 I got a Wyndham factory made bushmaster and it work flawlessly!
@@CCJ-bn8jp Thanks for help 🙂
@@CCJ-bn8jpyeah most ACRs that came out of that facility have been bulletproof….it’s a shame the military completely gave up on the idea and now the Spear LT took its throne. I love the ACR.
IMHO, I looked at just about all of these rifles plus the H&K MR556. I was not able to shoot them all before buying, so I just had to judge off of what I considered the fundamentals of what a good rifle is to me. It came down to the Sig and the H&K for me. I went with the H&K based on reputation and somewhat parts commonality with other AR platforms. The Sig was a close second, but the new Spear LT is basically the 3rd gen of this gun and I think Sig will come out with a different one later on. This will further make buying spare and replacement parts more confusing in the future. Again, just my humble opinion. I’m very satisfied with the MR556.
Spear LT is more of a BRN 180 wirh a short stroke gas system. Looked at the MR556, and LMT. Went with a Calcara 816 upper, and built a stripped BA lower. Also have a BREN2, BREN 805 S1, and SCAR 17S for short strokes Been waiting 8 months on a Perun X16 upper to build out.
The ACR was designed before the extended forward grip technique, and it shows.
It and the SCAR wouldn’t go amiss with a longer fore end, from the factory. Even if you don’t shoot with an extended grip, the added space for accessories is beneficial, like getting a light further out closer to the muzzle.
Will need to work on the gas system so you can keep the easy access with the longer hand guard.
Great video, for the Spear-LT "bendy barrel," it is not the barrel shifting left/right, it is the hand guard. To correct this you need to remove the HG and torque the 2 barrel screws to spec, then put the HG back on and torque the HG screws to spec. When it is torqued to spec, there is no movement. Some units left the factory with incorrect torque, others had people remove the HG and of course never retorque the screws correctly.
Whoa!!
Short stroke 223 and no BRN180!! Cmon!
My goto! Amazing firearm!
Would’ve been cool if you had an XCR out there too
Yes, but it has a long-stroke piston.
@@champy1210 oh I forgot it’s long stroke
Actually they do offer a "type 2" and "type 3" gas system, type 2 is short stroke and type 3 is long stroke. However I don't think they over type 2 on the XCR-L anymore, just the XCR-M, which isn't available in 5.56
“Mom can we get an acr”
“We have an ACR at home”
ACR at home: PSA JAKL 👋🏾
JAKL is a long stroke
I'd love me a JAKL.
@@ravissary79just got one , throwing a binary in it now
Would have been good to have the JAKL here tbh.
Good that Clint recognized that Jason handed him a loaded Sig spear LT.
ACR the granddad of short stroke rifles, ahead of it's time and inspiration to all those to come.
It’s literally not. The AR18 is the granddad of Short stroke rifles
@@duthvanderlinde3471 If you want to get technical the first external piston operated rifle was the Colt Model 703. The design most commonly seen today comes from the AR-18, but the other rifles on this list more closely resemble the ACR and not AR-18.
@@HighAngledHell Wrong again. There are several short-stroke piston rifles that predate the 703. Also, the 703 is a long-stroke piston which is also predated by other long-stroke piston rifles
Edit: You know the AR-18 predates the 703 too, right?
@@takensouls1you are correct 703 is long stroke, but it also looks nothing like the rifles on this list, and yet you failed to name any rifle that resemble the ones on this list that predate the ACR.
@@HighAngledHell You just keep digging that hole deeper and deeper, huh. You're adding in more context after the fact to distract from the fact that you've been wrong on both of your very clear statements. The ACR isn't the grandad to short stroke rifles and the Colt 703 wasn't the first external piston operated rifle. You could have said in regards to looks or even modern short stroke rifles but you didn't. It still would have been incorrect since the FN SCAR predates the ACR lol. The HK G36 predates the SCAR and ACR by a long shot. Check and mate
The big guys looking like bodyguards 😂. You are great.
If I had to choose one, it’d be the CZ Bren 2. Great rifle overall, shoots great, nice suppressor host, etc. and all right out of the box. Wouldn’t mind the Sig Spear LT, despite the barrel shift issues it’s been having. The wire stock would definitely have to go.

Great video. I would love to see a video on backpack guns/ SBR in .300 blackout with suppressor.
Love the dynamic, def need the 3 of yall in more videos!
What i would really like to know is the difference between Sig slide comps, dedicated ports and a dedicated compensator.
Could you maybe find some guns from friends or loaner guns where you compare guns of the same slide/total length but one with a short barrel and Sig comp slide, one with a barrel going the full length but with ports, and one with a short barrel and real comp? Ideally on the same lower/frame. Which has the best velocity? Controllability?
I like dedicated comps. Loud though. Not reliable enough for carry, for me.
To meet your side folding requirements: Bren 2 & Spear LT > everything else.
Non requirements: MR556 & Spear LT & Bren 2 & AUG > everything else.
Thank you for the video! Question for you. With similar price, accessories and condition, would you pick the lwrc spr or the mcx spear lt?
Hey, could you do a video on the Adams P2 aars vs Ruger Sfar vs POF Rogue di vs POF Revolution piston?
I would really love to know which one of the new small frame .308 rifles is best, or best for your money.
Plus maybe the Roam and Vseven magnesium AR-10s for good measure.
Sfar hands down
The ACR is so sick
Okay, that was extremely interesting. I don't own any 5.56 guns, short stroke or otherwise. I was amazed at the movement you got out of the barrel on the Spear LT. That much shift is going to make backup iron sights difficult, if not impossible, to get sighted in. I just bought a Spear LT 300 BLK pistol. I have put a pair of MagPul MBUS Pro backup offset sights on it. I am going to be extremely interested to sight it in and then see if it will hold zero. Again, an extremely interesting and educational video. Thank you for making it.
Its not the barrel that moved its the rail
@@Drupra88 That makes a lot more sense, but any movement between the barrel or rail is going to make sighting in back up iron sights hard.
Love my Spear Lt, made sure my barrel screws were torqued to spec and have had zero issues with it.
I have both and I'm running my LWRC all day 1-8 Atacr with a rh25 clip on when I need it. Socom Rc2 suppressor and cloud defensive rein 3.0
Mk18 is running a acog with canted RMR on a unity mount with a surefire scout and jk sbrx suppressor
Love my Bren 2. If they sold the 308 version to civs, I'd sell my Scar immediately
I would wait, my BREN2 x39 had over gassing issues along with a lot of others when it first came out. Took about 18 months for it to get figured out. HB industries I think worked harder on solving it then CZ did.
James Reeves went to play with dmr version in .308. cz will probably release it. And hopefully in 6.5 as well
You can sell the SCAR now.
@@charleslowrey9309 I have heard of the problems with the x39. Do you know if newer models are good to go or do you still need HBI to fix the issues?
@@josht5568 CZ came out with a 3 hole gas tube that fixed the issue. They sent me one for free I tried it out, but decided to stay with the HB tube, chome piston, and spring. HB setup runs smoother.
CZ all the way!!! You guys mentioned that they make 308 from what I understand it’s just 7.62x51 and in beginning they had some issues it’s called PPS
Coming out with some good videos lately, keep 'em flowing. Forgive me if I havent noticed your counterparts before but you'all work well together. Cheers
Like the bren 2
The scar is supposedly number one for reliability and ( never breaking)
According to the guys in the full auto rental armory.
Having shot the SCAR and the Bren and owning a Carmel. I'm not understanding the meh reactions to it. Of those 3, it's by far the flattest shooting with the most pleasant recoil impulse. I'm about Clint's size and I didn't really find it bulky and personally it has the best placement for the controls. I also felt it had a nicer trigger than the SCAR and about equal with the Bren. I just about snagged a Spear LT a couple weeks ago. I may need to add it to my christmas list.
CQB + LARP = meh. The Carmel is an absolute battle beast. Three weeks and > 1500 rounds down range w/mine. 300 yards on paper plates all day long w/1x6 LPVO. I have zero interest in any other system. Can’t wait to reach out with its phenomenal two stage trigger at +500. Carmel has redefined the paradigm.
Adams Arms, POF(Patriot Ordinance Factory), HK416, BRN4, PSA Jakl(maybe)......
Psa is long stroke, the rest cant fold the stock and shoot
Yes do a video on the 16 inch barrel flex!!! The more we all complain about it the more likely Sig will fix it. Sucks that the only real solution is a mount made by arasaka. Compare it to different lengths and models also because from everything I can gather it’s only the 16inch 5.55 version that has this issue.
Been able to shoot the SCAR a couple times and liked it but IMO Bren 2 was my pick. I have almost 2000 rds thru mine without issue and about 800 suppressed. Absolutely love it and for the price it’s hard to beat.
6 ACR, 5, Carmel, 4 B&T, 3, Scar, 2&1 are virtually interchangeable for me but 2, Spear LT, 1 Bren 2.
I have a Crusader Arms ( Templar ) in 5.56, I really like it other than it’s need for heavy weight bullets for accuracy.
ACR can switch to 5.56×45mm NATO, 6.8mm Remington SPC, .450 Bushmaster and .300 AAC Blackout. What caliber would you add, and which one would you get rid of?
Clint needs to do 3 things asap! 1. Hit the gym 2. Get a tan 3. Get shoe inlays model extra high.
No chick ever told me she prefers short strokes over long. Just get an XCR-L
You forgot the best one ! XCR-L the real SCAR Trial winner of hearts
long stroke
@@cxerphax1 XCRs can be had in short stroke configuration depending upon the gas block you choose("gb2").
Technically, you are right but then you can only get a 9 inch barrel.@@triggerjerk01
SCAR 16 >> Bren 2 MS. Sorry, but it’s true. A fellow forum user posted as such. Mine has a Geissele trigger and an extended hand guard. The internals of the SCAR are bomb proof and proven. If CZ provides better after market support, perhaps my opinion will change once I see more Bren 2’s get high round counts. Just ask Battlefield Vegas on how durable their SCARs are compared to other HK416 variants and the like.
I own all but the Carmel and I like the Bren 2 by far the most. I sold the majority of my Virtus models to get an 11.5 Bren 2 in 556 and 7.62x39 and it does almost everything better while weighing and costing less than all of these. B&T is sweet but also not worth double
You noitice that all these other manufacturers literally copied ACR but did it just in a slightly different way
The ACR is the oldest of these new-age folding stock, forward charging rifles, and probably still the best.
Hey there. Do those Walker radio ear pro's work good buddy? Let me know thinking of getting a few.
Get the IWI or CZ and you have enough to get a 9mm pistol and a plate carrier for the price of one MCX or SCAR that’s my choice.

After melting the Sig Spear LT, my money is on it!
Nah, I thought we already talked about this it is the POF-USA P415 all the way! ....hahaha! Just messing with you! Like I said on the comment section of your melt down video I own a LT, and a P415 they are both great rifles.
Sorry that rail shift is unacceptable
What I would choose wasn’t there. However, it technically is a short-stroke/DI hybrid: the Perun X16.
Yeah I would have liked to see them add in all the AR/AR adjacent uppers that make the standard AR lower a short stroke bufferless option. The BRN180, PSA Jakl, FM-15, Dissent, and any others I missed.
My next planned purchase is a 300 blackout pistol (Suppressed only usage). Looking at the CMMG Dissent Mk4. Or should I just spend $900 over the Dissent and go with Sig MCX Spear-LT 9" barrel 300 blackout?
I kind of wish CZ had the Bren2 Ms Pistol chambered in 300 blackout.
POF p415, best rifle ever produced.
This video hits at the right time....been debating short v long e.g. Sig or PWS
The Bren 2 is clear winner
Wouldnt the Perun X16 fit in this category?
Can y’all do a video between the 5.7 and 4.6 now that there’s a CMMG banshee in 4.6?
CZ BREN 2 for me and I can't wait the BREN 3
I will always be an unashamed ACR fan boy lol. I’ve always found it to be extremely reliable, accurate and pleasant to shoot. Plus the ascetic is peak 👌. After shooting one for 10 years, my only gripe is it’s front heavy and I usually have my hand a little higher up on the pistol grip and the selector lever can hit the web of my hand. I’ve been wanting to pick up a Bren for a while but at this point might wait for the 3.
That bren-2 is awesome i love those.
I want to see them do a video on the Spear rail losing zero.
This seems like it should be an automatic disqualification.
The brn 180 would be a great competitor
I love my ARX 100, but my favorite of those is the Sig
I do have a major affinity for the longer hand guard on the Sig…. However, I would immediately replace that Sig stock with a buffer tube & aBCM Mod 0.
I have a B5 Bravo on mine much better cheek weld as well, I also have the MiL/LE version and that stock is Tele folding like the Virtus
What were the controlled in this test? Did they have the same ammo, muzzle break, attachements? These are only ideas idk just figured it was worth noting.
Clint. Thanks for bringing in some new faces.
I paid for the BREN 2 and APX100, of my 5.56 Carbines, APX is my go to
I have the spear lt. I put a jmac customs tube and Magpul sl stock. The difference is night and day.
ZPAP M85 short stroke gas piston he was right just no folding stock
I knew I wasn’t crazy 🤣😎
To NARP or not to NARP?
Love seeing the ACR again on the channel!!
There is shorter rails and barrels parts for the bren2 as well. I think they all use the same receiver? But not sure. That would make the stock the only thing more modular on the Sig.
There is also the crusader arms Templar, I believe.
Bren2 is my #1 in this list.
LMAO! That bendy rail on the Spear LT is NOT a little. 1 degree is 60MOA; if a little grab can make it obviously go off to one side, then it is fucked.
If rail stability is paramount, then LMT or DD RIII would be my top picks. But HBI rail for Bren2 is also pretty damn solid.
The IWI is the only one that will induce malfunction if the dust cover is closed and stock is folded and you try to shoot it.
Well the good news is you can buy a virtus upper, then throw the spear Lt carrier group in there and use regular ar15 triggers and not have that barrel flex like the lt!
That Bren is really really doing it for me.. and price point really pushes it even more!
JMAC makes a 9” stock similar to the spear minimalist or a buffer tube can be added.
The CZ is my favorite but I don't believe it's being imported anymore! Glad I have one!
I have a cz 11 in. bren 2. awesome gun. accurate right out of the box w. iron sights.
Gonna go with the MCX or the Scar. But, realistically, most people can only afford a cheap AR you can build using the Adams Arms piston conversion kit to have some piston enjoyment. Much cheaper than the ones in the video. I bought one from y’all and it is fantastic. 😅
Next vid idea, best 556 long stroke piston gun
Bren 2 all day. Most recent proven rifle currently in war
And cheaper than any equivalent or lesser rifles imo
Have you reviewed the PSA jakal
I’d love to see the same test using 308’s
#1 CZ bren2, #2 IWI Carmel, #3 sig lt, don't care for the other 2.
Amazing video, love all these rifles, but my favorite one is still the CZ BREN2, the best evah!! 🤩😎😎
