Thank you Virar! I appreciate you putting the camera underneath the battery to show where the hooks go. It leaves me with zero doubts as a total beginner. Keep it up!

Like so many have already said, excellent video! It gave me the confidence to buy a battery at Costco and install it myself. Took about 20 minutes. Time well spent. Thank you!

I very much appreciate your thorough explanation. while i already am a comfortable mechanic i was just checking here to double check steps for this specific car. God job sir. thank you very much.
Very clear instructions. Thank you. I did my battery change but the i-stop is still flashing amber. It's the correct type battery. Do you have instructions for resetting the i-stop function?
Great tutorial, but I think you put on the retaining plates incorrectly. If you look at 2:10 the numbers are on the right side facing away but when you put it back on the numbers are on the left side.
You have a sharp eye. No one has pointed that till today and I never noticed it either. You are correct, when I was putting the retaining plate back on, I switched the directions. Guess it didn't really make a difference since I was able to install it back on properly and the friend whose car I made the video on has been driving the car around for the last 2 years without any battery issues. Haha
Thanks , awesome. One more thing, should I be concern with this restart thing, is it better to use backup with another battery when replacing the battery ?
Some 2014-2016 Mazdas have the i-ELOOP system that includes a super capacitor. The process for removing the deep discharge battery is not the same as the process for removing a standard battery that is not connected to a super capacitor.
Is it just the CCA that has to be the same? Also, can the replacement be 540 Amps? I'm looking for a new battery and checking which to buy and what brand. I currently have the same battery in the video. I have the Mazda 3.
If you are in US or Canada, Walmart and Costco have great deals for batteries and great warranties on them as well. I have sued this Walmart battery finder to find the exact replacement batteries for cars in the past and it works good. battfinder.com/
Hi there: Great video, thanks. I have a Mazda 6GT equipped with i-eloop. I replaced the battery with the original one I got from the dealership just for my car, now the car starts right up but the warning message did not go away and the i-eloop system is not charging. Do you know what I need to do to get rid off the message and make the i-eloop system work again? Thanks in advance.
Hi Reha, I have never worked on a Mazda 6 with i-eloop system so couldn't say for sure how to fix the issue. Sorry but I can't be of much help with your query.
How do you know when it's time to change the battery? Mine has been 4 years but I only drove like 25k miles during that time. I have some bubbly white corrosion on the terminals. What should I do?
The bubbly white corrosion is not a reliable sign for battery health and to predict battery replacement. Unfortunately there is no quick way to check battery. The correct way to check battery is to get it tested using a battery health tester. Multiple auto parts stores offer free battery health tests. In Canada, Canadian Tire and Part Source do so. In US, Auto Zone, O'Reilly auto parts, Advance auto parts. Hope this helps.
After I changed the battery, neither of my key fobs work (I changed both of those batteries just in case, but no help). Any idea if this issue could be related to changing the car battery?
That sounds very odd. The key fob programming is stored in the key fob microchip and the vehicles programming to the key fob is coded in it's microchip memory. Changing the vehicle battery shouldn't affect whether or not the key fobs work or not. Is the key fob not working the only issue or has anything else popped up too ?
I bought used battery, how to tell if it’s start/stop battery ? , there’s no writing or notes on it, also does mazda 3 needs start/stop battery or normal battery?
After auto zone replaced my battery all my inside lights on dash a/c and radio dim whenever I turn on my headlights wasn't doing this before the new battery is there some kind of setting I have to do?I have a Mazda 6 2015
Doesn't sound like an issue with any settings you can change. I would get the battery connections checked. It's possible when they installed the new battery they didn't connect the battery electrical connectors to the battery posts tightly enough.
After replacing battery my key fob doesn't work so well any more. Sometimes it works right away and sometimes I have to move it around the car. What do I need to do to fix this?
I wish I could help. But without actually looking at the car I couldn't really tell you for sure. Just spiralling ideas 1) Try replacing the battery or just the the battery out, put it back in and see if that fixes it. But other than that can't really think of anything. Sorry :(
@@VirarAutomotive I just tried the holding open and close buttons on the key fob simultaneously for 60 seconds while sitting in the car. That's seems to work. Will keep you posted.
My apologies for the confusion. Negative terminal is towards the back of the car, positive is towards the front. Black wire connects to negative terminal, red wire connects to positive terminal. Hopefully this clears things up
It is a good idea to put battery terminal protector. Now that I think about it, I haven't put battery terminal protector on any of my batteries in the longest time and haven't had issues. It was definitely a issue with older cars and batteries.
Thanks for the vídeo, idk if you can help me but, a week ago the battery of my car completely discharged, we took It to slow charge in an Autozone and we installed it but the AC and the turn signals does not turn on, do you know what could be the problem? Sorry for my bad english
1) Why would the battery just discharge? Maybe some electrical drain that caused it to drain? 2) I am guessing since AutoZone charged your battery, they must have tested it out to verify if the battery health is good/not. 3) I would start with checking the fuses. Make sure those ones are okay. If its a blown fuse the solution is easy which is to just replace them. Except that a proper electrical diagnosis of the electrical system only could point out the possible problem. Sorry, I couldn't be of much help.
So i changed my battery. Everything worked well. But i still got the blinking i stop and battery Management light. Will it be gone, after a few kilometers?
From what I have seen. You drive it for a bit and after a couple times of the engine turning On and Off, and driving, it should reset itself. Also for the first couple days you may feel the transmission shifting a little abruptly. That is because the transmission computer memory was also reset when you took the battery out. And as you drive the transmission computer is relearning how you drive and figuring out how to shift smoothly according to your driving conditions.
I took my 2017 mazda 3 to good year last month because while driving the car would get limp sometimes and all lights would appear on the dashboard and it started to sputter…I try to floor the gas pedal but the car would barely move…this happened 3 times since i got it early 2023. I took to goodyear and they couldn’t find the problem. Now today I tried to start it(it’s push start) pushing my foot on the brake pedal but it would not go in and I have to use keyfob because it won’t start with my finger. It sounds like it was going to start then boom…shuts off so quick and the odometer starts flickering. The battery is only 9 months old. What should I do? I can’t move it
9 months sounds too little of a timeframe for a new battery to fail. But still can't rule it out. I would get the alternator checked and the battery checked as well. Sounds like one of those. Again, can't really much until having looked at the car in person.
what happened to connecting the current sensor ... what year is this car ... as far I know all Skyactivs have a current sensor on negative terminal and there is a specific sequence of reconnection required????
BIG MISTAKE and caution for anyone who may be relying totally on this video: at 3:05 he points at the terminals and the commentary says (twice over) that the first one he indicates (towards the front) is negative, the second (towards the back) positive. This is WRONG: the positive terminal is towards the front, as will be indicated by the + mark on the battery, and the red-coloured plastic around it. Apart from that the video is clear and helpful, although I would mention that resting a metal wrench on top of the battery risks a short circuit and is not advisable.

If you are watching the video and listening to what I am saying it's clear that the red wire is for the positive terminal and black wire for the negative terminal.
