    How do you know when it's time to change the battery? Mine has been 4 years but I only drove like 25k miles during that time. I have some bubbly white corrosion on the terminals. What should I do?

    • @VirarAutomotive
      @VirarAutomotive  Год назад +2

      The bubbly white corrosion is not a reliable sign for battery health and to predict battery replacement.
      Unfortunately there is no quick way to check battery. The correct way to check battery is to get it tested using a battery health tester. Multiple auto parts stores offer free battery health tests. In Canada, Canadian Tire and Part Source do so. In US, Auto Zone, O'Reilly auto parts, Advance auto parts.
      Hope this helps.

    • @VirarAutomotive
      @VirarAutomotive  2 года назад

      That sounds very odd. The key fob programming is stored in the key fob microchip and the vehicles programming to the key fob is coded in it's microchip memory. Changing the vehicle battery shouldn't affect whether or not the key fobs work or not. Is the key fob not working the only issue or has anything else popped up too ?

    • @VirarAutomotive
      @VirarAutomotive  2 года назад +1

      1) Why would the battery just discharge? Maybe some electrical drain that caused it to drain?
      2) I am guessing since AutoZone charged your battery, they must have tested it out to verify if the battery health is good/not.
      3) I would start with checking the fuses. Make sure those ones are okay. If its a blown fuse the solution is easy which is to just replace them. Except that a proper electrical diagnosis of the electrical system only could point out the possible problem.

      From what I have seen. You drive it for a bit and after a couple times of the engine turning On and Off, and driving, it should reset itself. Also for the first couple days you may feel the transmission shifting a little abruptly. That is because the transmission computer memory was also reset when you took the battery out. And as you drive the transmission computer is relearning how you drive and figuring out how to shift smoothly according to your driving conditions.

    I took my 2017 mazda 3 to good year last month because while driving the car would get limp sometimes and all lights would appear on the dashboard and it started to sputter…I try to floor the gas pedal but the car would barely move…this happened 3 times since i got it early 2023. I took to goodyear and they couldn’t find the problem. Now today I tried to start it(it’s push start) pushing my foot on the brake pedal but it would not go in and I have to use keyfob because it won’t start with my finger. It sounds like it was going to start then boom…shuts off so quick and the odometer starts flickering. The battery is only 9 months old. What should I do? I can’t move it

    • @VirarAutomotive

      9 months sounds too little of a timeframe for a new battery to fail. But still can't rule it out.

    BIG MISTAKE and caution for anyone who may be relying totally on this video: at 3:05 he points at the terminals and the commentary says (twice over) that the first one he indicates (towards the front) is negative, the second (towards the back) positive. This is WRONG: the positive terminal is towards the front, as will be indicated by the + mark on the battery, and the red-coloured plastic around it. Apart from that the video is clear and helpful, although I would mention that resting a metal wrench on top of the battery risks a short circuit and is not advisable.

    • @VirarAutomotive
      @VirarAutomotive  2 года назад +1

      I am sorry but I don't take kindly to alarmist comments with full caps on. If you are watching the video and listening to what I am saying it's clear that the red wire is for the positive terminal and black wire for the negative terminal. Constructive feedback is appreciated but alarmist messages are not.

      1) Check the fuses for lights and air-conditioner.
      ruclips.net/video/m4M9hkG1RBU/видео.html. This video shows you how to access the fuse puller and fuse panel locations. If fuses are bad, replace them.
      2) Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, wait for 10-15 mins and then reconnect it.
      Hopefully this helps in someway. Beyond that I cannot see why merely changing the battery should cause electrical problems.

      @@VirarAutomotive Thanks for the quick response :)
      I run to watch the video.
      I also cannot understand what happened, I was careful in making the replacement in the best way.
      There are no signals on the display and dashboard (even the classic iloop and battery disappeared after a few km).
      I also thought of some fuses, especially the xenon lights, but then I thought that it can't be that with the low beams on.
      Tomorrow, in the sunlight, I will try to remove and replace the battery, leaving the battery disconnected for 15 minutes, and to check the fuses.
      Thanks again :)

    • @VirarAutomotive
      @VirarAutomotive  Год назад

      That sounds odd. Maybe check the fuses. But often and this sounds odd, but after the battery is charged sufficiently and you start-stop-start the car a couple things, things tend to reset and resolve themselves.
      If this keeps on recurring, then maybe you need to have the battery health tested. Any local auto parts store should be able to do that for you.

    Does it need another power connection to keep the memory?

    • @VirarAutomotive
      @VirarAutomotive  2 года назад +1

      If you want to keep the engine and transmission shift memory then yes, you would need a separate power connection. I changed the battery without doing so and its totally fine. The transmission doesn't take learn to relearn and during the learning process too its not jerky or obvious that the transmission is learning.
