      @@jesserios8420 With the help of THIS video, I was able to remove and reinstall the headliner with ZERO issues. No - it is definitely not a one-day process. You could probably do it over a weekend. It's a fun project, and definitely worth it IMO. Installers here in Cali want close to $3,000 to install them. I did it for under $300 all things considered. My car does not have a sunroof. I'm not sure how you would go about putting the lights in that sunroof cover part - But I'm sure there are videos on how to do that. Do yourself a favor and buy the longer fiber optic strands. I originally bought a 9-foot kit and it ended up being too short. I bought the 13-foot kit and it works great. The box is in my spare tire well and the fiber optic bunch runs down my C pillar on the passenger side.

    First where do you live? I am having a hard time trying to get my 2005 Chrysler 300 moonroof fixed because it’s leaking. I checked the seal and it seems in good shape but I looked inside the cover of the moonroof to see if there was any trash in there so I could blow it out. Looked again, saw some straw in there and stuck my hand in there to get it out, we have a lot of pine trees, pulled out what looked like black plastic. This leak has caused a lot of damage to the inside of my car, headliner, carpet and heaven only knows what else. The headliner has dropped out at the back window.. Anyway my question is what could be wrong on the cover over my moonroof? I had to get a car cover to put on the car so I can’t drive it in the rain. There’s a long story behind all this damage. A few things I’ve already had fixed. The drainage tubes were blown out, they weren’t stopped up but the leak is still there. Any suggestions, please? I can’t find anyone who thinks they can fix it and I don’t have a warranty. Any advice would be appreciated,

    • @FixCarYourself

      Hard to say exactly, but some ideas to consider and to do further research on: would be to use a dent puller to pop up the dent damage. Possibly some Bondo to repair any other areas that can't be pulled out. Also potentially look into using some expanding foam like great stuff on the inside of the headliner.

      the back of the moonroof should have a clip of sorts that helps hold the rear of the roof in place. I have seen some people use double side tape or with Velcro to help keep it in place. But the adhesive side needs to be rated at a higher temperature so it doesn't melt from the heat of a hot car inside.

    Great job! This is the video I've been waiting on! Everything was explained in great detail, but my question is would it be easier to remove the headliner from the trunk? Or is that even possible? I'm just really nervous about cracking it.

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  3 года назад +2

      Its possible, you would still have to do a lot of bending which may be the problem which I'll explain shortly. Also the seat belt in the center may get in the way.
      The main reason why I did it through the right rear door is because the manufacturer suggested it that way.
      That doesn't mean its not possible to do it through the trunk.
      However, I'm guessing but I may be wrong on this: that when the headliner comes off it can only bend the way as shown in the video (as the headliner is stiff).
      So when going through the trunk you would have to bend or fold it both ways, which is why I believe the manufacturer suggests folding or bending it and taking it out through the rear door because it can't be bent both ways.
      If another viewer who has taken off the headliner can let us know that would be helpful.

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  3 года назад

      Also I did not crack it as I took it out but I was careful. It's possible if the rear door is also taken off, their would be less stress on the headliner as you bend it.
      Of course that would be more work and you would need more tools and a holding or lifting device like a table, jack stand, or wheelbarrow for the door. Not sure if it's worth the extra time to remove the door.

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  10 месяцев назад +1

      Good question. I wanted to remove it from the trunk as well. It sounds logical, but believe it or not doing it through the door meant less of a fold on the headliner. Also, theirs like a bump/block in the trunk when you open the rear seats. So the headliner has to be bent even more. Didn't want to risk it cracking and leaving a scar. That's why it was done through the side door as to not damage the headliner so I could reuse it.

    So im wrapping my roof and my 300c SRT8 has the antenna fin, and i need to remove that out of the way and then wrap the roof. For that would i only need to remove the rear C pillars + rear handles and pull the headliner down slightly or just pop the tab down from the rear center edge and kinda put my arm in and feel where that bolt is that screws the antenna up ?

    • @FixCarYourself

      The sunroof has an extra wire harness connector near the front dome reading lights (obviously with a sun roof control buttons), and I believe their is another connector towards the rear C Pillar. So pretty much the wire connector harness is different.
      Removing the one with the sun roof is easier to get out as opposed to the full headliner (from a space point of view).
      Their is also some extra trim/molding that is part of the sunroof.

      Nice! the vac should get most of that stuff out! Stick you phone in to see whatever you didn't get of the nest.

      @@FixCarYourself My kid was able to view from trunk side through rear glass, and after I was done vacuuming I pulled it down low enough to look for myself.. filled that vac up 2 times.. so think it was up there from previous year stored in another garage, was only in this one a few weeks...

      Can you tell me the time in the video where you are having a problem? Most likely its a switch you have to press on, and then carefully wiggle it out.

    did the bend on the headliner when you removed it stay or any marks of the bends after the fact?

      No crease and it looks like it conformed back as if I never took it off.
