Love Kai's playing, he's got the proper bass face too!
The switch on the EB-0 is probably toggling series/parallel wiring on the pickup, the Dimarzio website mentions you can do that on this model.

Also, loved your Gibson basses! I own a 1967 Red EB2D with the 1 pickup in the neck position. Mine is missing the pick guard and the mute was removed sometime in the past but was included when I bought the bass from a co-worker. It came with a great hard shell case too. Very sturdy. Keep up the great work, Gregor!

Thank you Gregor, So many people turn their nose up at Gibson basses. I love them and they each have their place. Beautiful EB2 by the way. I have three Gibsons. I have a 68 Melodymaker, which was basically an EB0 that I had customized with an EB3 neck pickup with dual volume and tones. It is a beast. I sat in for a couple of songs at a club with it and the bass player came running up to turn down his amp, I don't think I heave ever played with volume over 6 it is so powerful. I also have a 73 Ripper. This was an original run of the first 26. I put a Babicz bridge on it and it is amazing. Finally I bit for a 2019 Midtown. Another amazing bass in it's own right. Thanks for the videos.

I think these fat bass sounds are far from being out of fashion. Sure, modern metal requires crazy overdriven hifi sounds ala Dingwall and Darkglass, but the neo soul thing is also very popular right now. McBaise just released an album where these basses would not be out of place at all.

Between 67 and 69 I had two EB-0’s an Epiphone EB-0 Wilshire type and an EB-2DC double pickup with the single double coil push button switch. The older Gibson EB-0’s had a Little wider neck at the nut and played a bit easier down there than the 67 and later basses. Seeing your video really took me back to when I started playing bass in my senior year of high school. Thanks man for the memories!

My first bass was a 66 EB-0 that I got at 13, in 1976. A couple of years later I wanted a P bass. Could not afford one so I put a D'marzio P 10:49 PU in the bridge position, and a 3-way switch. So I had bridge PU, both PU,s and just bridge PU. The bridge P PU gave it a little treble added so together it sounded not so muddy.Did not think about original Vintage, back then you did what you had to do to get the tone u wanted. Alot of basses later I still have the EB-0 and when I'm just playing myself I use the EB-O, Sounds great for Classic Rock, Beatles,Stones, Cream and other classic Rock. Like you said it's only for certain songs, I love a mudbucker.

Short scales fit so good in the mix. I dont get the biased against them. They indeed sound more bassy than 34" which sound more punchy. Just put a flats on short scales and you will have a focused bass sound perfect for Neo Soul, Electronic, Pop, etc.

Great. I have a 69 EB0 with original pickup, bridge cover. Get some not TOO bassy sounds/wolf notes out of it by doing a few things (It’s that nice deep vintage hollow squashed tone):
Unhook the treble kill capacitor inside
Volume on the bass down to about 7
Bass eq on the amp way down
    Using GHS brite flats

Those Gibson EB0 and later SG basses are my favourite-looking and least-favourite sounding instruments. Even when they added the bridge pickup to modern SGs, even if you drop a dimarzio model one in the neck, even if you add a babicz bridge, there's just no escaping that hollow, shallow, unsustained muffle of a tone. Pity, because I *love* the look and feel!
