  • This Rare Gibson Bass SB 400 have been released in 1971 and produced only untill 1973 so it's not easy to find one this in good condition.
This one relly needed a new bridge which was impossible to find so I needed to fix it instead of changing it.
Fortunately apart from this it only needed a fret job, a new set of strings, a good setup and of course a bit of cleaning.
    Enjoy!

I know, I’m trying to do also a quick auido test in future videos. The problem is that I have 400 guitars every year in my shop and I also build 6-7 classical guitars and have an Italian RUclips channel…trying to do everything but clearly I can’t 🤣

That chipboard case is identical to the one my 1970 melodymaker bass came in...makes sense, I'm pretty sure this is the model that replaced the melodymaker

Very cool getting to see a guitar restoration of a super old guitar! Thanks for sharing :D Idk much about how you're handling you channel but def would be cool to see a bit of demoing at the final product when you make more of these!
EDIT: Also perhaps adding a song for ambience if that so interests you. Even something maybe your wrote for fun just to help with the kinda void of what kinda feels like a bit of dead air. :D

Hi and thanks for the comment. For now on this channel I'm only showing my work with no music, just sound. My main channel is in Italian and I can not really afford to do much more than this at the moment.
I'll make sure to add some demoing in future videos. Thanks for the precious feedback!

I personally think the sound of him working on the guitar is relaxing, kind of like ASMR. These videos are great to watch right before bed time or while you're laying in bed and falling to sleep.

Thanks for not refinishing that bass. Now I don't have to type in all caps.

There is an unwritten rule in luthiery that teach us to be respectful of old, or even new instruments, even if they "look so bad"

@@AndrewsGuitarShop Some people (me) pay a lot of money for that kind of finish wear. I have a light aged Murphy Labs R9, a CS '51 Nocaster Relic, A Cunetto era CS '60 Strat Relic and a heavy relic Masterbuilt '50 Broadcaster. Not worn out, worn it.
