      Keep in mind these are laptops and often times you pay more for the company to squeeze all that processing power into a small package. If you buy a pc and not a laptop it will be cheaper and if you build your own pc the price is even lower, you just need a little bit of skill though. You have two options if these are too expensive: buy a shadow (he did a video on this I am not going to explain it here) or you could wait until he reviews gaming pc's and check the prices on those.

    I rember my first Laptop was built with NVIDIA Geforce GPU and AMD CPU. Sadly, I was still an amateur in PC/Laptop Gaming so I did not ever used its full potential and neglected it: Keyboard keys no longer sticked and the fan was failing causing laptop to overheat. This was back in 2010.
    2015 is when I bought and upgraded to current laptop trends: Intel CPU without GPU. I bought Microsoft i7 laptop with Beats audio. Best laptop ever! Used its full potential. Everything from back, keyboard, and battery life is still like new. The only problem is the fan inside, which needs a new one because it isnmaking clanking sounds. Overall performance is still flawless.
    2021 I now decided to go back into gaming community and got myself an i7 10th Gen with NVIDIA Geforce RTX GPU as a beginners gaming laptop with VR Readt. I have a crap SSD with 256 GB but a powerful RAM 16GB 3200 MHz Kingston. The best feature is that it overlaps with current trending laptops. No more oldschool
    Watching this video got me thinking a lot about my experience with laptops. I clicked for the content and stayed watching from start to finish for the insightful inofrmation.

    i wish there was a vr box, no bells and whistles, just the necessary pc parts stuck in a box that you can put in a bag on you back to play vr.
    like a vr raspberry pi.
    install occulus software on the drive with your normal pc, install whatever games (can give it wifi if possible), make sure it has a decent battery so it doesn't crap out 10 minutes in, plug the vr headset in, put it in a porous bag (or make a special strap to stick it to your back), and you're off to the races.

    I bought the zephyrus g14, and it's been pretty good so far. I mean the battery is amazing, it can easily last me around 8 hours on a single charge, the performance on flat screen games is pretty good considering it has a 3060, and the performance in vr is pretty impressive for a 14 inch laptop, granted it will not be able to compete with high end desktop pc's, but I have played a lot of vr on this laptop and it can easily handle my Oculus rift S, Only thing is I needed to buy myself an adapter for the usb c displayport, I was afraid that it wouldn't work but it did! Though I have seen some people claim that it has not worked for them, but maybe it is thanks to the quality of the adapters that they bought. I would assume that it runs a quest 2 no problem. Only bad thing is that it gets so freaking hot when gaming, I measured my temps and found that the cpu can get up to 95 C, which is a safe temperature but still quite hot to the touch. Other than that, highly recommended!

    • @Teebyzmal
      @Teebyzmal 11 месяцев назад

      Don't know about the exact model, but from my personal experience and anecdotal evidence from a good few reddit threads, ROG Zephyrus g14 doesn't seem to cooperate very well with the Quest 2 for some reason.
      I'm not entirely sure why. It is definitely possible and I have cracked through with it before, but it ended up with a very slow frame rate on VRChat.
      Anyways, that's beside the point, I just wanted to comment this incase anyone was looking for this laptop for the Quest 2 specifically, be sure to research the compatibility! Seems perfectly fine for other headsets though :)

    Yes! Asus G14 is great. AMD has amazing thermal performance & pricing, better gaming battery life too. Can’t wait to see more AMD 4000 series laptops. Worth noting it doesn’t have a webcam though, but you can always plug in a USB one. Alternative would be an Legion 15, Omen 15 or TUF 15, but that extra inch and extra cash might not be worth it. 15 inch gaming laptops are not as durable as 14 inch ones, tend not to last as long when used portably.

      @Here_is_Waldo 3 года назад +1

      @@MadfugginMax I don't know how many watts the laptop uses, but I would guess that's enough. I have an old Aliuenware 17inch laptop that maxes out at 180w, so I'd think yours shouldn't be any higher. Easy to check if you have a look at the power pack and see what the maximum wattage output it has on it, that should be the maximum the laptop draws.
      That battery pack you're looking at also has 250Wh written on the side, though. If memory serves, that would mean it can only run for an hour with a draw of 250w on it. If your laptop draws 125w, then it'll only be able to power it for 2 hours for example. (Also keep in mind you shouldn't totally discharge a battery pack or it will slowly die over time, so total run time will be slightly less than advertised.)
      It does have a pure sine wave inverter on it, which is what you want, and it seems small and portable. If only an extra hour or two is all you want, it looks like it might be good. Otherwise I'd suggest looking for something with a bigger battery.

    If you go to oculus they say that a gtx 1060m won’t work but a desktop will. I’m guessing m means mobile which is laptop. So by what this guy says is it ok to use a gtx 1060m?

    • @Here_is_Waldo
      @Here_is_Waldo 3 года назад

      A 1060m should work, but the problem is that some laptops the video connector port on the side doesn't connect directly to the video card, so they can't run VR properly. You'll have to check that before getting the laptop. Though the main difference between a desktop and laptop video card is that the laptop is a stepped down, lower wattage version of the desktop, so it will never be as powerful as it's bigger brother.

    Since 2016 (when I got my original Vive) I've left gaming laptops behind. More money for lesser performance and non upgradable. Sure you can take it to the beach and play VR, but honestly how does that, not to mention you won't be doing it very long as battery becomes an issue while gaming.
    I have gotten into and LOVE building powerful ITX PC. I can take it with me to my sisters or a friends house to play VR and am getting all the performance of a big boy PC, for about the same amount of cash, or less, than a high performant gaming laptop will cost (while giving less actual performance).
    Now if you just want one and have the cash, have at it. Just saying most people should consider what is actually the better option for them.
