- Whats going on everyone? I recently went to a vehicle auction I've never been to before and decided to bid on this 79 newport. I won the bid but they had to call and make sure the owner was okay with selling it for that much. A day went by and I got that call and good news that they accepted my bid! I think you did pretty well. You can't get anything remotely decent for less than $1000 now. I owned a very similar 1977 Chrysler Newport 4 door sedan (not a 4 door hardtop which you have - it had frames around the window glass and the B pillar went up to the roof). I had the exact same interior - cloth and vinyl. The pattern on the cloth is called "brocade". This was popular in the 70s. It was also the same color yellow as what you have. My car had the same wheel covers, had the same 400 V8 engine, the same grille and same tail lights. The paint color was not gold like yours, mine was more of a yellow color similar to the interior. It had a different steering wheel that was 3 spoke. It also had a vinyl top. You are lucky yours never had a vinyl top. They become torn and ripped over time and the water gets underneath them which creates rust. It was truly the best riding car I have EVER owned. Despite its large size, I could easily see all 4 corners of the car, so that made it much easier to park. I really liked the car a lot and I miss it.

Awesome road cars. Last gen before the downsizing. Had a 75 imperial…same car. Nice that yours is a big block…most newports were 360’s
I just bought a 1973 New Yorker for $400 at a auction. Still a great buy at your price. Clean it up and drive it.
