I love Ellen and I understand that she was unwittingly seated next to the Bushes at a sporting event, but her defense of being amicable towards them despite all of the atrocities that happened during the Bush administration's reign of power is just inexcusable.

I remember Megan McCain‘s father John McCain being on Ellen’s talk show back when he was running for president and told Ellen right to her face that he could not and would not support gay marriage. Ellen thanked him for being on her show and the interview pretty much concluded several minutes later with no big fanfare.

The irony in all this is we think we have the right to judge people at all. Only our Lord can see beyond our outward appearance to underlying circumstances and what is really in our hearts to judge us. Maybe that's why Ellen chooses to be nice to everyone. It blesses her with a great deal of joy and happiness that shines in all that she does every single day.
Meeting hate with hate has never been a good solution to anything. As a life long liberal Democrat born & raised in the deep South, I am surrounded by people who disagree w/ my politics every day. Retracting to my corner isn't winning anyone over but genuine connection & friendship have a chance at fostering unity. We have to lead by example & show those who discriminate that we aren't as different as they might think.
We can't cry about discrimination, plead for unification, demand tolerance, pray for open hearts & minds all while pitching a t-total fit when people with opposing social views sit & enjoy a ball game together!! I think it's absurd to generate all of this negative emotion & this divisive backlash contributes to further division & discrimination.
I can get along with different views. Not with a war criminal responsible for the death of innocent civilians.

This is not about political disagreements: this is about giving credence to a president whose foreign policy choices cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocents in the Middle East: men, women, and children whose lives were abruptly, unjustly ended in pursuit of empire building.
People like that don't deserve friendships with the rich and famous: they deserve indefinite incarceration, much like those in Guantanamo Bay. How easily we forget the criminality of our so-called leaders.

When George W was in power, a lot of people thought he was the worst president ever and didn’t think it could get any worse. Now that Trump is president, however, it was proven it could get a lot worse, which is why people are now more lenient with Dubya. It’s a kind of nostalgia: “Remember how upset we were About Bush Jr.? Oh, we were so naive...”

I don't even know why this is a controversy. Anyone should be friends with whoever they want. It's not hurting anyone else and if people are upset over it, then tough. Ellen shouldn't worry about who disapproves of her friendship with President George Bush because it's not a big deal. If you're happy being friends with somebody and they are too, then that's all that matters.
