A glitch I just ran into not too long ago was the Thunderbolt glitch - When using the move Thunderbolt there's a really small chance that the sound from the move will keep playing on loop until you turn the game off. What's crazy is that along with the looping noise, the glitch also causes your money to not go down when you buy things for whatever reason, so if the glitch ever happens to you, buy everything you can!
Gen 3 was pretty much bug free unless you went out of your way to figure them out. I have no idea how someone figured out the pomeg berry glitch but I salute them
@@trapez77missigno definitely seems doable accidently. Pokedoll with marrowak ghost. The fact that being in red hp makes battle animations and cries faster somehow. The weird instant text after getting bike glitch. Teleporting away from a trainer after getting seen. How about badge boost glitch which also goes off when oponents lower your stats. That definitely happens to everyone. So many of these come up randomly that it's near impossible to play gen 1 truly glitchless.
@@leonfire99 there’s no way anyone ever did these glitches on accident. And I guarantee that nobody noticed the badge boost glitch until people started specifically looking for glitches
The biggest reason why Gen 3 is relatively glitchless (together with gens 4&5) is due to the games not being released worldwide at the same time, so the western versions could be patched before being sold. That's also why most glitches in those gens are found in the Japanese games. With the 3DS era the games got released worldwide in short sequence, so the western versions kept the same glitches. Also, Gen 1, 4, 6, 7 and 9 are glitch heavy and/or badly running because GameFreak tend to pack the games so full that the console can't handle them anymore.
Gen 1 has glitches for sure, but at least most of its glitches require a process or noticing something not working correctly (like badge boosts). Gen 9 sadly is has glitches that anyone will notice but they couldn’t care less to patch them on a digital console that allows patches - even when they sell DLC to the same game.
The Scarlet glitch compilation at the beginning was hilarious! If you have more footage it would be great to have a whole video of stuff like that. I had a similar thing to the raid glitch happen to me but every time I tried to use “my” move, it would just fail.
I still can't believe that jumbling of Pokemon in raids. It is definitely the online raids (and heck, even raids in game sometimes with npcs) that REALLY show off the weirdest things in Scarlet Violet!
Did you know ? Even if we mock Gen 9 for its glitches, there's ONE generation that no one talks about (weirdly, wonder why) : *GEN 4.* In DDP it was easy to get get Bad Eggs (glitched egg supposed to prevent cheated Pokémons to be used) through transfering mons from Gen 3 to 4, or event the Void to access any Legendary early in the game, like Shaymin, Darkrai, Arceus, ect... Also I won't start talking of the mess BDSP was : dupes of ENTIRE BOXES and items in huge numbers, the end credits that were missing if you didn't updated the game, Bad Eggs to multiply the Pokémons in your party, the compatibility with HOME that was so screwed Shedinja (considered a cloned Pokémon) and Spinda (its pattern were revered due to how bad Unity Diamond & Pearl work) were BANNED from being traded for months, or even bugs that allowed speedrunners to finish the game in less than 5 minutes... Side to side Scarlet and Violet looked like perfectly working games on release compared to BDSP
I definitely was wanting to check up on Gen 4 DDP in detail, and thanks for the reminder! Can't wait to read up more. But YEAH BDSP was a mess, I was debating mentioning it but couldn't find my old clips of performing some of the messy glitches with it (Like getting to Shaymin early -- and then waiting to catch it so I could shiny hunt it, then the distribution (Oak's Letter) officially came annnnnd then went, so no Shaymin ;w; my biggest blunder lol) But yes, they are a mess. xD
A funny fact about BDSP was that, apparently, the only difference in the code between brilliant diamond and shining pearl was a SINGLE line of code that determined what version of the game it is; and it's from just that line of code that the game loads the different animations, events, and route encounters.
@@alyoalyoalyogen 5 has a lot of weird tile placement glitches, specifically in Pokestar Studios, some walk through trees in the Giant Chasm, the starting route has a surfable area that leads you up some stairs, and you can go into the mountain terrain next to it, and the only useful one is that there is a tile in Brycen's gym that you can walk through that lets you skip a trainer saving time to get through a usually very easy gym (ice types aren't good defensively. Idk why they're often late game gyms. Looking at Pryce, Candice, and Bryce for that.)
@@NagKai_G That's basically how all of the pair games work, BDSP isn't special in that way other than the changes happening at runtime instead of compile time.
I loved breaking the games through AR. One of my favorite ones was a random long cheat I found that gave me a level 255 shiny eevee. It took me 10 minutes to put it in and it sadly screwed my childhood save, but I still love doing game breaking stuff and seeing what makes these games tick
Regarding the "stuck" Volcarona in Scarlet/Violet, that can happen if you send them to a new place just as they defeat a wild Pokemon. It's really quite a useful glitch if you're trying to take a picture with a Pokemon and it keeps getting zoomies just as you line up your shot.
Oh, that's the reason? This is the only non-multiplayer glitch I regularly encounter and it frustrates me a lot. Especially having to open team menu, change the order of mons, leave menu, going in again and changing the team back to normal... Also I feel it happens more often with bigger mon, but than those are slower and I tend to order them around more than my ceruledge
One of my favourite glitches in Emerald was resurfacing from the entrance of the sea floor cavern at exactly the right frame; which would allow you to walk and even bike on water! The glitch would go away once you dive and resurface or fly somewhere else though.
Back then, when bugs and glitches were a strange phenomena and not just the norm.... ufff - yea so true. Gen 1 was a coding mess, gen 2 tried it's best and it was nice but gen 3 was so polished in comparison to gen 1 and gen 2. My favorite games will be HGSS and ORAS until GameFreak massively changes course (which is not going to happeeeen if you look at the revenue of the last 4 Pokémon games, why change if it makes you BANK)
The algorithm seems to have kinda blessed this video, great content! And yeah you are totally right, nobody thinks about glitches in gen 3 that aren’t forced through cheats, also I have to agree to the zigzagoon statement especially because I was lucky enough to get one on my copy of sapphire just a year ago
Great video i was sceptical because the thumbnail looked a little bit like an older video, but the editing is great and the content itself was also great!
One of these days I'll see someone else mention seeing a white tree on the path to the berry master's house in what i believe was Emerald. There was also one time in Diamond where i was organizing my boxes by type for a veeeery long time. Then the sprites for the mons started getting discolored, after going back and forth to see if what i was seeing was legit, the game froze. Ended up having to restart and reorganized the boxes all over again.
One of the ones I made ample use of not long ago was the Pokeblock glitch. You could make it so Safari Zone pokemon could not flee with the use of any three different color Pokeblock.

My experience with the berry glitch involved Nintendo Action (a Spanish Magazine) announcing that you could get it fixed in a beach tour they'd be making, or mail in to the company. They announced it around July. They didn't mention that Nintendo Spain closes the whole of August. So yeah, for about two months I thought mail had lost my cartridges and my friends'... until they eventually returned with the event active. Have never heard of the curtain thing before, weird My favorite obscure gen 3 glitch is the permanent Cheri berry glitch. In Pokemon Emerald, sometimes when you trade with Pokemon Colosseum (and maybe XD), you get a Cheri berry planted in the bottom middle plot of the Berry Master's garden. It will never grow no matter how much time passes, and the only way to get rid of it is PKHeX. It's not very well documented, and might only be in certain versions of Emerald as I don't have it in mine and I've traded with the Gamecube games quite a lot. Edit: My internal battery has been dry long before I started my current save, idk if that prevents it from happening. The people who reported the glitch often did so because they were actively growing berries and noticed this one that they didn't plant and wouldn't grow, so their internal batteries were not dry.
I had a glitch happen to me a few weeks ago replaying sapphire, no cheats no nothing playing on my original sapphire cartridge in the cutscene where you go back to Slateport to see team aqua stealing the submarine Archie's sprite had changed to a random female NPC no kidding, i was shocked took video and everything weirdest thing was I knew it was a glitch so I turned it off and on again and happened for a 2nd time idk if anyone else has had this glitch or why it happened twice in a row or why it happened at all. When I saw him again in seafloor cavern his sprite was normal again.
Generation 1 is playable without noticing any of the glitches. Generation 9 is full of noticable glitches in normal play and even after selling DLC it’s not all fixed.
I once released a pokemon and then found it in the wild; I knew it was mine not only because the level, but it was a Aron in the grass near the daycare(released it using their pc) and it had rock smash.
