It's really not that surprising to hear "Ukrainians did this or that" so much. They were the biggest minority in the Soviet empire, as much as Russians want to pretend that it's not a real nationality. Combined with the age old tradition of Russians throwing their many minorities at the enemy first and Ukraine being right on the frontline, it's the expected outcome. In fact, it's something to think about every time we hear about an empire with sizeable amount of minorities doing anything, not just the USSR. I remember hearing about the "attack of the dead men" made by the Russian empire in WW1 and so many people talking about how it showed that Russian grit and all that. Then, I learned that after the commander who led the attack was killed, the command went to his Polish second lieutenant, Władysław Strzemiński (ethnically Polish but born in Minsk, Belarus). I never did find the exact ethnic makeup of the soldiers who took part in it, but I do wonder how Russian this point of Russian national pride really is.
Just think of this: none of the T34s (only 1 in the case of 2024) in the Russian Victory Day Parade are actually Russian built T34s. They're Czech built ones from after ww2
Everyone bleeds for the Spitfire and Mustang. My favorite aircraft of WWII is the Messershmitt Bf 109. It just looks right, in both it's earlier form and later form. I just love it. Inverted V-12 with a crazy supercharger on it.
Well, I mean, we could also call the SU-57 “Felon” the femboy, but if I remember correctly, it was the SU-75 “checkmate” that was originally referred to as the femboy. This is by no means meant to come off as insulting, in fact, I will be the first to admit that I have messed up military pieces with similar designations way to many times (the AK-47 and the AK-74 to be exact)
This is one of those Mandela Effect things, and if I recall it was because Lazerpig accidentally said the wrong aircraft designation in one of his videos, so we remember "su-57 femboy" in a segment where he was talking about the su-75. I could be totally wrong here, i am not a lazerpig historian.
For reference. The song at the end is "The March of the Soviet Air Force" in Japanese :)

It's also worth seeing just which parts of the USSR got hit by the brunt of the Nazi invasion.
1:28:50 Russian Orthodox Patriarchate of Moscow was reestablished in 1943 by Stalin's decree. So apparently soviets _DO_ pray if they scared enough. 😁

For me it's the P-38. It just looks so goofy, and I love that it was at least somewhat effective despite looking like no other fighter of the war.
@@wombatgirl997 it was super effective actually
Ah yes the SU 57 FEMBOY

1:41:25 Britain was steamrolling Rommel well before the Americans arrived.
23:58 Not kamikazes, since they weren't INTENDING to die.
"...that only included a little bit of genocide."
Really goes to show why the Soviets liked the P-39 so.much.
2:20 Start time.
