    Thank you for breaking down how to do the math to change yarn weight. I’m definitely NOT a mathematician and you made it easy to understand! Enjoy your days by the pool!

    Devin - loved the podcast - and your topic of the week was so timely! I’ve got a KAL going in my shop right now and many people had a tough time getting gauge and loved the fabric they were getting. So, I gave them all a formula to determine what size they should knit.
    Pattern gauge per inch x pattern finished size = # of stitches divided by YOUR gauge per inch = YOUR finished size. Then they tested a couple other sizes (smaller in this instance) to see what size they should knit. As far as I can tell that formula should work for just about any pattern and could be used for changing yarn weight - any instance where you are knitting off gauge! Thanks for a great episode - can’t wait to get your August color of the month sock sets for the shop - so excited!

    I just got an order delivered today and when I opened it and saw Gigi’s signature on the packing slip it made me smile! Great job, Gigi!
    Devin and Julie Brown (Julie, it’s Lori in Parker)- I made my first sweater, an Audrey, in April. I too wanted to use DK so I found a RUclips video to tell me how. I used a light DK held with a mohair/silk and liked the fabric I got with a size 6 needle. So I used needle sizes 4, 5 & 6 and knitted a size 5, even though I measure a size 2. I was thinking the neckline would be too long and wondered if I should have casted on more stitches and only did the rows required for a size 2, but I winged it and it blocked out nicely. I’m very happy with it and I’ll send you a photo of me wearing it in the wild!

    I met my husband eighteen years ago and at the time I was taking medication that I thought I would be on forever. But, when I moved to Tx in 2021, I could not find a doctor that didn’t have at least a six month wait, so I thought I would try to stop my medication. Well one side effect went away which is my suppression of humming and singing! My husband was shocked! He doesn’t mind it, thankfully. I don’t even realize I am doing it! I do remember that I would sing and hum before the medication… Still off my meds and doing fine.

    Yesterday I was at a homeschool expo in Grapevine, TX. During a talk on encouraging writers I crocheted. The young girl in front watched with wide eyes. Unfortunately I wasn't able to speak with her, but who knows maybe she'll have someone show her how or contact the shop. Today I crocheted at the park, a yarn shop, and a pizza place. Since I always have, usually crochet, but occasionally knitting with me I am always crafting in public.

    Baltian is knitted top down! I started it a while back and the construction is fairly easy. However, I did not like my yarn choice so I ripped it out. It is on my must make list for sure. Love your podcast! Wish I lived closer so I could join you for Knit in Public Day.

    Devin, as always a delightful podcast❣️ I ordered the new balm, Porch. Thank you in advance Gigi for all you will be doing to get me my package. I am very excited about the patriotic yarn for July. I am trying so hard to use stash. May have to break down and be patriotic🇺🇸 Have a great week and hear from you next Saturday, Lord willing ~ Alison

    This week I needed to pick up stitches on a baby vest I'm knitting. I had changed the pattern so much I could not trust the given number of stitches to pick up. Luckily Patty Lyons has a video: "Picking up the right amount of stitches." I gained complete confidence in how to do this despite what the pattern says! Congrats, Devin, on your business growth!

    I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the "right gauge" for picking up sts. I finally landed on PU3, skip 1 row, PU2, skip 1 for a perpendicular pick-up; 1:1 in the same direction, which is needed now and then. This always seems to work for me really well. I don't worry how many sts there are supposed to be, I just get it done and then in the next row, if needed I can do some M1 or k2togs.

    Devin, you are a joy! I love everything. I have knitted the Baltian. I was a newer knitter when I did, but the one thing I'd tell you to watch for and since you design, maybe you can weigh in, the dolman style of that doesn't make it user friendly to lift your arms, the whole bottom lifts up above your bust too if it's short enough, haha. So if you knit it, I'd plan extra yarn to lengthen it, imho. Stay well everyone~ Kimberly

    • @knittymcpurly1549
      @knittymcpurly1549  4 месяца назад +1

      I watched your latest podcast just before this one and I was so happy to see you again! I was also not intending to buy Devin’s advent this year either, but like you, the second I saw the inspiration photos and the name, I knew it would end up at my doorstep! I cannot wait to see it and decide what to make. Mine will likely be a shawl also.
