Chiaroscuro Quartet Documentary - Haydn's 'Sun' Quartets Op.20 recording

The Chiaroscuro Quartet's latest CD is out now on the BIS label. The disc features Haydn's 'Sun' Quartets Op.20 Nos 1-3 and was recorded in spring 2016. The disc will be released on iTunes in the UK in July 2016.

For me , Haydn never wrote a set of the caliber of these quartets again.

Haydn’s Opus 20 is one of the most important and monumental break-throughs in Western classical music, the reason that the 68 Haydn string quartets are one of the absolute pinnacles of the same, is that Opus 20 is not a one-off - almost every other set is saying something new; the consistency of the quality is truly astonishing.
