I could watch this all ..... love the arrangement i would love to see concerto 11 16 and 18 by Mozart done this way. I wish there was a giant double bass. for the deep bass Low end
I love this. The very limitations of the fortepiano make it fit in perfectly as a chamber instrument - it sort of comes from the same planet as the quartet (strings, wood... that's it) instead of being this enormous alien spaceship carrying tons of metal under tension. Of course a modern concert grand is miraculous, but Mozart never saw one.
The playing is wonderfully idiomatic and beautifully phrased by all, and the arrangement is Mozart's; but it is still a concerto in chamber form, and the strings cannot match the orchestra's colours, as noted below. It makes the miracle of K 452 all the more remarkable: any other composer would have composed a concerto with winds as orchestra, instead of a fully integrated and totally original piece of pure and complete chamber music.
Because, as George Szell said, "The great composers do not want us to be robots executing orders, they want us to be creative in the direction of their thinking?"

Lovely as it is this arrangement sorely misses the horn and bassoon parts in the slow movement. Their contribution is so subtle that you only miss them when they are not there. Without them the dish is only half seasoned.

Why Bezuidenhout altetered so many passages in the Cadenza of mov.I, which is writen by Mozart himself?
Erm, because they're cadenzas, and that's the point of having them?
Because the term is not in the original notes and cadenzas depend of the performers?
