CORRECTIONS & THINGS WE MISSED:
1. The inverted method is the same 210g of water. Not 200g.
2. The newest version of the regular AeroPress is cool grey with white lettering. Looks good.
3. I should have made this clearer but the regular version also only ships with the paddle, scoop and 100 filters.
Your dry comedic delivery gets me every time. I look forward to your videos consistently, and its always a great way to start a day!
SAME!! I also enjoy his humor
One think I like to mention on Aeropress videos... if you get yourself a 2.5inch (63.6mm) circle-punch, of the sort that is often used for scrap booking, you can can make your own Aeropress filters! A single flat filter can usually get at least 4 Aeropress filters, and sometimes you can get a fifth by punching a half-circle on the edge and unfolding it. It's great too, because you can make Aeropress filters out of any premium pour over filter you prefer.
Was multitasking the first time I watched and missed the brilliant intro ‼️Glad I went back for a second watch and lesson learned.
As always, really appreciate the level of detail in this review and excited to give the recipe a try!
Wow! They reduced the number filters from 350 to 100? That almost sounds like a lack of respect for the customer.
They also stopped providing that filter holder and the funnel is gone too.
I never used the funnel, and still have plenty of filters it of 350 and I have had it for almost 10yrs😂
@@krychu007 Lol!
youll get no filters and youll buy it
Just get the Fellows screen, no more filters.
Absolutely love your reviews
You can increase the paddle time to around 20 seconds to deal with the grounds sticking to the filter paper. You won't have to put in the water first that way.
I love your videos man!! It's always a pleasure to see your work and hear your thoughts.
Hey thanks so much man! Right back at ya. :)
Great video. I will try out the recipe for sure!
My Deltercoffeepress is made of the same plastic, triton. And after 2 years of frequent use, yes their is a light discolouration in the plastic.
The references and word play here is smooth! Haha great info! 🔥
Always nice to get new material for Aeropress. I love the new flow cap and no longer use the Prismo that I formerly loved. Virtually no leakage using 2 metal filters--the Aeropress filter on top, and Altura Ultra to catch the super fines that pass thru the grit filter. These yield a cup with no visible mud and full of great flavor from my home roasts. Perhaps the extra filter gives the snug fit to prevent your leakage.
Very very very cool transition!!!
fantastic script.
Entertaining, great research, great content as always.

Love your channel, great post. I'll try the recipe and let you know. I do mostly brew pour-over, but every now and then when I need an afternoon coffee, I break out the AeroPress.
Great review! I agree about the paper filters: I will keep using my old Aeropress bcuz I am really put off by the decrease in paper filters! Also, I have had a Prismo from day 1 & luv it! Did u attempt to use the Prismo screen with the AP flow control cap?
I am getting the best results with fine grind settings (8-16 clicks on the Comandante), very gentle pouring, no stirring at all, and short steep times (0-90 secs). Very dark roasts can benefit from the bypass method. My dark Aeropress (latest model) works fine but shows plenty of pressure-induced strain marks, so it'd be great if the clear model's material was more durable. Not sure though if that's the case.
I find that the OEM flow control cap doesn’t leak when there are papers seated. At least until you start pressing, and then half the time coffee goes out sideways. I hate futzing with the inverted method, so I might need to grab the Prismo.
Also might have to try water-first for a v60 switch brew this morning.
The accessories is across the board, so if you get the brown one now, you get the same as the clear. Less filters etc
Hey Aramse, congratulations for this video about AeroPress.
My first Aeropress lasts for about 10 or 12 years , and I bought the second one last year, so, unless a big mistake, I'm good for the next decade.
I'm quite meh about the new strategy of AeroPress company, though the transparent one looks nice ;-)
i do miss the funnel. i use it all the time to plunge directly into a thermos with smaller mouth, or mug with bigger mouth.
I tried this method but using the Aesir brand papers for the aeropress paper filter. I don’t know why I hadn’t considered using the prismo flow control cap with additional paper filters.
How about this; pour some water, add grounds, swirl, then add the rest of the water and use the agitation from pouring to skip the stirring (I don't live cleaning that thing)? I also have the brown/gold uglypress, so can't really see if that method does sufficient mixing of the grounds. Great video again by the way!
Thank Dany! And yeah this could work tbh. I wonder if the agitation would be sufficient or a longer steep time would be necessary. Will try the next time I brew with the AP.
Loved the opening transition! And, as always, your fabulous humor. One confusion regarding your method: 210 gr water with a prismo, but 200 gr water when inverted?
Oops that’s an error. It’s 210 for both. Sorry about that. Will add this to a pinned comment.
hey great vid ! would you mind writing your recipe in description box please ? many thanks
U the best!
Your videos are like a big thing to me. Thank you.
P.s.Was it microbalance scale that you used? Do you like it? I've purchased it recently, didn't receive yet
P.p.s. to brew "aramse" I usually use Gagne's 10 min- method
The microbalance is decent for the price. Just make sure you get the wooden plate instead of the silicone one or ask if the thinker version. It’s quite sensitive to heat so if you’re brewing into a hot carafe the weight keeps going up on its own like a timer. Haha. We use a small wood square on top of the silicone mat which works fine.
@@aramse oh yep, I've seen these recommendations on Amazon, but hoped that it was a rare problem( thanks for the feedback!
Very good review my man.
If using the inversion method, any care taken by putting water in first and only stirring in a particular way will be ruined when the brewer is flipped at the end. The grounds will resettle any old way.
With both methods the grounds will settle randomly but since you’ve avoided pouring directly on to it and pushing the fines onto the paper more of the heavier particles can settle, preventing the fines from clogging. As I mentioned at the end, with the inverted method the reason you’re adding water first is to match the agitation you get with the Prismo method.
So it's the original aeropress but clear; and the new attachment is just the prismo?
Not sure if there are quality issues but my flow control cap doesn't leak at all FWIW
I use flow control with no leaks with Mya aeropress ever day.
One thing I like to do when doing inverted is push out the air whilst still upside down.
Sounds like a recipe for third degree burns.
@@nicks8026 I hear but i haven’t had any issues with it so far, if anything it creates a better vacuum when flipping, so no dripping of hot coffee there
@nicks8026 3rd degree?? Are u using water from a nuclear reactor?
My wife gave me a clear Aeropress shortly after we first met, 13 years ago. Earlier this year, it broke, and she got me a new one, and... look, I reckon there are zero functional differences, but... it felt like such a step down. Silly, silly brain
AeroPress or clever dipper . would like to get into good coffee
I aeropressed the like button! 🙃
Are you going to review the XL. And the new orea drippers? Mk2, bigboy and the open 🤔
The new Oreas just got in a few days ago. Still waiting on the XL.
Looking forward to your review(s) 🙌
I have the same turd version. Clear would be a nice upgrade but they are definitely more $$ now
Gave my like at 4:19 🤌
“These farts definitely put a smile on my face” 😭😭😭
"These Farts definitely put a smile on my face" 😂 made my day
25% increase in price with reduced accessories does not justify its increase of "quality".
God the thumbnail made me think yall werejames hoffman for a second
I love your sense of humor man! Great channel! Keep that aeropress farting!
The colour changed because of the material choice I think. They had to use a plastic which didn't have any negative side effects
Yes this is correct. We’re just wondering why they chose this brown when there are so many other food safe plastic colours available. :)
There are some serious safety concerns around Tritan, specifically leeching of endocrine disrupting chemicals. Not really an upgrade over PP.
Plastics and food has always been a sketchy subject and like I mentioned in the video, I’m a skeptic when it comes to this. Could you share some details on these allegations against Tritan?
@@aramse there are a few studies, like Bittner, Yang and Stoner, “Estrogenic chemicals often leach from BPA-free plastic products that are replacements for BPA-containing polycarbonate products” or Sol Jang et al “Effect of chronic exposure to two components of Tritan copolyester on Daphnia magna, Moina macrocopa, and Oryzias latipes, and potential mechanisms of endocrine disruption using H295R cells” or Holmes et al. “Effect of common consumer washing methods on bisphenol A release in tritan drinking bottles.”
I use an AP but still try to minimize plastics wherever possible. Any different plastic really isn’t an upgrade in my book. PP is also more widely studied so I’m a bit less concerned about using it compared to a proprietary formula like Tritan.
I feel like the Delter Coffee Press, which is the same material, is manufactured a little better.
Haven’t tried that yet tbh. Need to get our hands on one.
Please, always put the recipe in the comments. Heheh
Do I peek a DiFluid scale? Perhaps a review is in the works…🤔
here for the dad jokes!
What’s the scale?
Difluid Microbalance
I will buy if it was made out of some very tough glass.
I like using the flow control cap because it means I can immerse without having to invest the Aeropress. I don't try to use it as a "crema creator" though. I also think it's a bit better than the Prismo
Also I had the leaking happen the first couple of brews and I realized I was over tightening the cap and now it no longer actually drips?
What mug is this? 10:27
Muji :)
@@aramse thank you! they look really nice and are inexpensive too.
I've had the brown Aeropress for over a decade, found it much harder to get good brews out of the Clear. Maybe it's lack of skill on my part, but my impressions were that the new cap noticably obstructs flow (you have to press harder which leads to more astringency) and Tritan leeches and/or leaks heat from the brew water. Again, might be wrong about the exact cause, but most definitely found it hard to get as good brews out the Clear as I get out of the brown Aeropress.
Leakier than the titanic 😂
Leakier than a titanic 😂
Although your comment regarding putting the coffee first will cause the grounds to be pressed onto the filter may be accurate, if you do the inversion method, I don't see how it would matter.
I mention this in the video. With the inverted method too you’re pouring water onto the grounds and displacing the bed when you flip the AP. 2 steps of agitation that are not present with our method and make a difference in the cup.
@@aramse Ah, I am surprised that it would make a noticeable difference. I am interested in using the Prismo attachment but not sure if the single outlet hole would cause the water to channel through the coffee grounds more unevenly compared what comes with the aeropress.
@@BN99239 pouring water onto coffee causes a lot agitation which will alter cup profile. You can do a quick test with the inverted method - brew one cup with coffee first then brew with water first and compare. You will notice the latter has less body and is a bit weaker so you’ll need to grinder finer to dial in to taste. Also with the Prismo the valve requires very little pressure to open and also the bed of coffee is not directly on the hole. There’s a gap between the mesh and the hole below. So it’s not going channel because of that.
@@aramse What I tend to do is invert the aeropress, put the grounds in, then put a bit of hot water in, just enough to reach the level of the grounds, then I agitate it a bit, and then add the rest of the hot water in after and stir. I will try your method and see how it differs. Also, that's good to hear. I will give the Prismo a try as well!
Meh Aeropress isn’t the same anymore. It’s a new company run by millennials who don’t understand anything but how to potentially make profit by cutting corners.
Are you kidding?! The only thing that would have been worse than your TRITE video would have been if I would have wasted the time to watch more than the first one third of it!
I know right?! It’s baffling how so many people have watched and liked this video. Thanks for wasting your time watching a third of the video and then wasting more time to leave this delightful comment.
