I don't know if you've seen what Ambition Strikes is doing... (another homesteading youtube channel)... now THEY are gonna have an industrial size commercial kind of plow. I think they are up in your area... they are in Idaho anyway. You've done a great job on a budget, and I always love watching your uploads. Thanks for sharing this journey with all of us.
Sir, as a plumber you might find this useful. To add weight to my truck in winter, I have two 4 foot sections of 6” PVC pipe that I have capped on both ends. I filled them with sand. I can strap them down anywhere in the bed of my truck. They don’t rot like sandbags do, I’ve had mine for at least ten years. Thanks for all your videos, I really enjoy them.
Or just build a wooden crate from scrap wood and fill it with snow using the Bobcat. You have weight when you need it, and when road melts so does the weight. But to reply on Art's comment, He doesn't think he knows it all, he just doesn't read the comments so he'll never see your advice.
@@chrischristenson4547 Assuming the PVC pipe is filled with sand, adding water will undoubtedly add weight, but doesn’t that also dramatically increase the chance of cracking the pipe when the water freezes and expands?
I can't be the only one who suggests this but you have all the weight you need for the back end everywhere you look....SNOW! If it's wet, it's heavy. A few buckets from the skid steer onto the bed will weigh it down and when it melts it'll be distributed somewhere other than your immediate parking area. We do it with smaller pickups here in Chicago. Load up the box and off ya go.
One of my simple pleasures is watching your daily life. I'm 47, 2 kids, a wife, 2 little dogs and a cat in a 3 bedroom apartment in a beautiful community with rivers and not far from the Atlantic Ocean. I have land that I dream of developing into "Ogden Ranch" and I watch everything Heath does. I'm afraid I'll be too old to realize my dream, but seeing someone live this type of life away from the city makes me smile. God bless your home and your family.
Food for thought from an old Phoenix guy. Before I could afford a 4x4, when I'd run up to Payson or Flag' I learned to put about 6 bags of sand in the bed over the rear axle. Had the weight I needed and in the event of ice, the sand came in handy to pour out for grip on the ice when needed.
Looking at that crushed cab made me physically ill. I've rolled two vehicles. I am so very glad that Rhett wasn't hurt. That Snow Truck needs snowflakes stenciled on the hood or doors! Ruby is the perfect Snow Truck Dog. Dad driving makes it "nap time!" She feels safe. Blessings on you and your family, your homestead, and livestock, your friends and neighbors!✨️🕊❄️🐈⬛📚🫖
Heath, we understand the challenges of winter and moving snow, you persevered and put together a solution that will carry you through to spring! Well done and thank you for being so consistent to post and share with us the great things that you and your family are doing.
Time to make a plow blade from scratch you really need the County Plow style Big Flare on the right side so you can plow quickly and throw the snow farther. 🤟🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
What a beautiful ride with all the snow on the ground & trees .. I see why you & your wife love that spot to live .. Truck turned out nice 👍 Stay safe & God bless
I think this is my first comment in 6 years of watching your channel. I connect with your appreciation of hard labor and determination. Though our lives are very different, I congratulate you, a hard working man for identifying the honorable joy you get to have plowing your roadroad into the sunset. My driveway is 4.3 miles long north of the boarder in BC, my old Chevy 1500 plows 17.2 miles every time it snows. (4 passes on the road). I prefer to plow well before the sun gets up ( 5am in winter ) so I can have the most quiet hours of the day to myself, and my truck of course. Keep the amazing content coming Heath!
A lot of hard work, more than you could ever show has resulted in a vehicle that will do the job. Things have come together because you have worked together keep it up, well done.
At 68 years, I'll leave those crazy weather conditions for the younger go getters like yourself! I've been blessed to have spent 53 years without having a major accident of my causing and only 1 ticket as a teenager. LOL, it can be done. Love your project almost completed as it really looks great and productive as planned. Congratulations. Have a good weekend!
I have been watching you and your family from the very beginning and love to see the changes you have made. Congratulations to you and Cedar on everything that you have achieved 👏

Hearing that little boy talk about his dreams nearly makes me cry thank you for giving us a glimpse into your dreams and glad we could help you make those dreams come true showing us your dream allows us to dream as well. Looks like you're going to have to do a little tree trimming this spring
I so like the color of the plow truck. Must be the paint itself that's not sturdy. Maybe paint it the same color, just better paint. Very nice seeing the truck doing its job. Your patience has paid off well. Congratulations !!!
I used to plow snow for a living in the Colorado mountains. A friend suggested getting an old snowmobile track and cut it in half to throw under the tires if I got stuck. Those and a few buckets of traction sand came in handy from time to time.
Nice job Heath, looks like it really cuts nice. Got your dream, Ruby by your side, now add a little Chris Ladoux the stereo. I would add a piro for sure being tuned up and pushing in 4th!
Thank you, Heath and Cedar for doing life your way. Please don't change who you are for any of your viewers, I realize this is your income and you try to make vedio that perhaps your viewers and analytics and such suggested. But live your life's and just keep working your vedios in there for us. If I'm not so fond of drivetrains and want to see you paint (yup I know you hate it.) “I needed to make sure the exhaust wouldn’t come back into the cab so I ordered a new exhaust tip” OMG Heath!! Only the very new to the channel are gonna but that! You wanted to add a bit o bling to your masterpiece work truck!! 😝 Great job on it by the way! Should provide several years of good service till your next itch 😊
Way to go Heath! You are living my dream and I love watching. My dad taught me as a teenager how to check and change the oil. How to change a tire. All the things that might help me, help myself. As a young married 18 year old, I was the parts cleaner for every fixer upper car we ever got. Or "can you fit your hand in there and undo that bolt". I wouldn't change any of the trials that came with marriage or used vehicles. Not that they are one in the same 😁. I'm a Florida girl born and raised so snow was never an issue. I work in a factory for 30 yrs on the floor and still do and how I wished I could have homesteaded like you and your family. Having a temperamental boss really makes me wish I could have been my own boss. I'm hard on myself anyway. I love watching to get away from the rest of the world. Every video is so clean without cursing. I've watched all of the Waltons and little house on the Prarie and you are clean with new videos twice a week. What more could I want. Keep them rolling. Love it. Your family is the best!❤
I am also a native Floridian but felt it was time to move. You are now over 22 million in population, and it will only get worse with open borders. At 58 the heat, humidity AND hurricanes made the decision an easy one. Bought 35 acres in NE Wyoming haven't had nearly as much snow as Heath thankfully ,and can't wait to build a home there. Population LESS than 600 thousand, no traffic jams here 😂 My advice, move before your only choice for meat and protein is lab grown meats and bug protein, scary future no doubt.
Heath. One adventure completed and another adventure is to start. I think more than anything else that projects keeps your brain synapse firing and your heart a pumping. I know you have fun to with the kids and other things. It does make keeping up with the ranches more enjoyable.
How beautiful that you've realised your dreams Heath (& Cedar and the clan). So often in life people have regrets or never realise theirs. You are blessed.
I’m so glad you’re happy with your hard working plow truck, may it give you the service you need for years to come. Can’t wait to see you and Cedar’s plans for the shop completion. Much love to all, be well and safe family.
I was thinking duce and a half, you answered my question without knowing, thanks. After watching the drive on the roads, yea it would be a very tight fit for that.
Plow truck looks fantastic. I was wondering if you have thought of using corrugated tin on the walls inside your shop ? I saved a ton of money doing mine that way and it looks old school. Just a thought. LOVE all your videos. Thanks 👍
I recommend that you do an hour of snow ploughing time with some nice Music such as the end of this vid and I would love to go to sleep watching and listening to it. What do you think?
Thanks for taking us along for the ride as you plowed. Even though you slapped us in the face a few times and even dumped us into the snow. Great video. Great truck.
Greetings and blessings to all at Red Poppy Ranch 🤗 It’s great to see the truck ploughing snow after all this time 👍🏻👍🏻 Hopefully it will serve you well for many years to come. Wishing you all the best from the beautiful New Forest in southern England.
Liked the music better than "Ain't Gonna Live This Way No More"... Excellent job and it turned out far better than we expected but you are talented enough to make it happen.
I'm Excited for the shop videos.

Add water to the sand to increase the weight
This man won't take your advice, he knows it all 🤣.
This is a great idea with the pc pipe, My gramps would add buckets full of concrete to add wait.

That's a great idea. Super simple.
Kudos for keeping the camera mishaps in the final cut. Made me smile and is a good indication of the challenges a RUclipsr has to deal with.
That was definitely different I never feel off a truck before
That camera took a beating this video
plus the windscreen
The snow look beautiful!😊
The truck looks great
Hello Red Poppy and thumbs UP!
Hiya Heath and Cedar
I have a couple of military ammo crates that I fill with railroad tie plates to ballast the rear of my plow truck. About 400 lbs. each.
Another enjoyable video, thanks for sharing your videos with us
Ambition strikes is building the snowblower you guys need in your area lol. I love all your videos. Yours and your neighbours.
Thank you young man for allowing an old man to follow your dreams and have a few of my own. Thanks for posting
Glory, that snow is beautiful…peaceful….a winter wonderland!
Well it's done and runs and it looks good well done sir
Great transformation!

Rhett was a fortunate young man when he rolled his truck last winter. Vehicles can be replaced .
Outstanding accomplishment.
Attaboy heath! Keep atter 😁
Such a wonderful result! So glad our watching contributes to providing for your family!
It sounds great underload pushing snow.

That truck turned out good I like the way it looks for a second Gen. Dodge
Awesome job 👍👍👍👍 , glad everything works, out great, j green or like Omaha orange , or Pepsi blue color
Think about this, these type of winters may become "the norm" rather than the " exception " so good to be prepared. Enjoy all that you do.
Great work Heath, please don’t trade this truck in the next few months. This one means something special.
What a beautiful ride with all the snow on the ground & trees ..

Truck turned out nice 👍

That was quite a blessing that your son didn’t get too serious of an injury out of that
