“When it starts to get beautiful, that’s the reward.” Arne, that is poetry to my soul. This is why we love making things and keep being inspired to learn more. Thank you for saying that so well!
My goodness! How lucky your niece is, to have an entire bespoke doll wardrobe from her uncles! What an absolutely lovely gift that is! If she has daughters, I hope she cherishes them. 🥰🤩
Love the colors on the crochet boxy. I really enjoyed the wip parade. I am glad patient is out and going home. The little one visiting should be great fun. Lots of wonderful things and events!! Thank you so much.
I envy those going on your cruise to the top of the world. My husband has Alzheimer's like Carlos' mother, so your cruises are still on my bucket list. Husband is at home and is still manageable, but cannot be left alone. Your videos are such a comfort to me. Thanks.
Another wonderful episode Arne and Carlos! Thank you for sharing your week and discoveries! Absolutely adore the floral cardigan and very excited to see your woolly version come to life! Love that pop of the warm vanilla against the cool blues and grey! Absolutely agree when it comes to color choices, there are no rules. Have a great week!
Loved this time with you both, Arne and Carlos. Such a wonderful and amazing sewing book Arne, what a treasure, and yes my interest has been picqued regarding intarsia!
❤So many gems in this episode! The sewing is perfection. I love my sewing machine, but often finish things by hand. Agree, Arne, a maker will work in many forms. Carlos!😮 that sweater is GORGEOUS! It’s like a fine piece of blue-and-white porcelain! ❤ Color is what makes life beautiful! Love your color theories, Carlos!
It's a Lutterloh sewing system (Lutterloh Golden Rule), still available today in modern styles. The enclosed "tape measure" allows you to plot out a pattern in your size. No instructions on sewing however. I use them and love it!
I’m with you both, cake and sausage! Seriously though, you inspire me and make me laugh! Watching you guys makes my day better, thank you so much. Annie, Newcastle, Australia
Thank you so much for your advice on choosing colors. I really like the idea of making the swatch and hanging it on the wall and waiting. Love you both!
Such a fun episode ! You both had so much to say and I love hearing you laugh , I'm the same, better too much food than not enough, thank goodness for freezers. Have a wonderful week !
I loved this video! I find it easier to watch a prerecorded podcast because I'm not often around during the day. It really has made my weekend to tune in and watch your podcast about the doll clothes. I'll watch it again I'm sure! Many thanks.
You had me in stitches with the birthday cakes, OK Arne likes cake, and now you learned to freeze it, I wish I was there to eat sausages and cake at your house. You guys are very funny, you make my day.
Another great SAKFAB, you kept me laughing the whole video! Arne in charge of cake? Who thought this was a good idea? So, now you have a freezer...Love the sweater!!!
Great video! I was always told that ‘blue and green should never be seen’ in colour choice, my answer was always, ‘Don’t tell peacocks that, they’re gorgeous!’ I love pink and red together too 😁 Takk and be well, Sally 🌹
Vintage VWs are the most fun cars to own! It’s a shame we don’t live in Norway, my husband is a master tech and has nursed along many vintage VWs well into their golden years. We have owned a ‘68 and a ‘74 super beetle and one of the new beetles ourselves. The vintage beetles are a mechanic’s dream because they are so simple to diagnose and fix (if you’re a mechanic, of course!)
Hi Guys Love the jacket! I love pink, red together & growing up my mother told me the same thing! No pink & red together! Pink, red & peach would be amazing! Cant wait for the pattern. Blessings
Happy Birthday Arne. Maybe if you use pinking shears to cut out the doll dress it would stop the material from shedding. Loved your mothers sewing book. It is amazing how many different things people were able to do back in the day. I have to look through my sewing books but I have one from the late 1800's to early 1900 and it also gives instruction on how to sew underclothing and dresses etc.. Love your video and shorts.
hi guys i loved the podcast today so many things to talk about i am alwaysglad to listen to your things that you do i think the quilt is comeing along great the doll clothes will be great to learn it will be nice to see your dad if he gives us a wave so lots of stuff to look foward to enjoy your supper take care see you in a bit on sun
Dear Arne and Carlos! You are so funny!(Who cares how many guests!- Arnes birthday,he loves cake, need one say more?!😅 Lol! )You are Both Sooooo Good! Best wishes, 😂❤J.I.M.K Mrs. Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺 🎉😊
Enjoyed the episode as always. A special thank you for the color pep talk. I’m a quilter and always working to push myself out of my comfort zone with color. I have learned a lot from designers like you who are intuitive with color and don’t follow preconceived rules. And Arne, I was also told that red and pink don’t go together when I was younger. I often think back to that and wonder why I believed it for so long when it was really just someone’s opinion. I also love what you said Carlos, about your appreciation for fine quality workmanship. I share that with you and hold it as a standard for what I surround myself with in my life.
So relatable what you say about the (sales)people you buy from are pleased with your colorful choice. We have green tiles for our kitchen floor, the sales person said that in all his years working (which was like 20 years) he had only sold the green tiles once or twice. Same for the man who installed the tiles he had only installed them once before. I love them and often when people visit our home they tells us they really like them 😅
Let them eat cake! I love cake! You have inspired me to make one! Too many sausages! Here we go again. Remember when Arne bought so much fish from the truck? Your sweater is amazing and in those colors......oh sooo good! You shared such wonderful finds today. I can't stop laughing at Carlos with horns! Did you plan that? You would do anything for a laugh! 🤣😁😆👍
I love the book from your mom Arne. It's beautiful. I wish they still had books like that. What an amazing heirloom. The cardigan is beautiful Carlos. That's the neatest Intarsia I've ever seen and I love the colors. I find Intarsia difficult to knit but my fingers aren't very limber. Love the freezer story. Be careful, I think you may be getting a bit too Americanized - ha ha 70 sausages !! And how much cake??? Of course you two are far from sedentary, so I'm sure you work all that food off.
Lol-so difficult to judge food amounts for crowds! Agreed . Best play it safe. Any cake left??!!! Arne that fashion book is a treasure . You guys create such beauty in your lives and in the world! Loved this interesting and funny chat ! You both are so endearing!! Marilyn D NJ USA xx
Always good to see what you both are up to. I get so much more from the vlog when we’re all not trying to keep up with comments plus watching what is shown on screen. ❤❤ The cake and sausage situation is too funny. I guess that the freezer can be used for something else in the future. 😉
Loved Carlos’s cardigan. Full of admiration for your creativity and enthusiasm in following your passions, be it knitting, crocheting, gardening, sewing, thrifting and so much more.
Arne and Carlos sounds like you are having a busy but interesting summer. Thank you for including all of us. Hope the Beatle turns out to be a simple fix. Please pet Freya for me
Another fun visit! You touched on several great topics today….. look forward to showing us how to make a block for tops…. Especially how to adjust for body imperfections…I.e. round back, forward shoulders…. Etc. Would love to see pic of sofa and hopefully progress on kitchen as it goes!
Just this morning ordered the Cotton cashmere for your Scrapbook cardigan and this afternoon delighted to find that you will be knitting the same garment…
I have a basement like yours. The previous owners put in a support system so the wall wouldn’t collapse, but water does seep in through one of the walls when it rains a lot. So please let me know if you find a solution. House projects are keeping me from knitting lately, but I find inspiration in your videos about your garden and painting rooms. Thanks for all the variety!
On very delicate garments/fabrics and corners when I start sewing, I found a trick (don't remember by who) to use wrapping paper tissue under the stitch line and it helps to allow the material to run under the feet and not get pulled down into the machine. It is so lightweight paper it tears away without pulling on the stitches or the fabric. place the paper about an inch out from the raw edge to start sewing on the paper, just sew slowly for the first three stitches or so, then sew as normal.
About 20 years or so ago, online blogs were in their infancy. My friends and I, on-the-other-hand, thought these were the perfect place to pour out our teenage-angst laden hearts. At some point I had written something along the lines of 'life is better in orange and purple' and eventually changed the look of the blog to reflect that - having forgotten that I had written that months beforehand. I'm not kidding you when I say that that colour combination has followed me around ever since. There's purple and orange clothes, accessories... My bedroom has purple walls and there was an orange bedset. Last year I went to my first ever local creative market and what do I find? Arne and Carlos Regia Pairfect 9093 - predominantly orange and purple. I had to get it.
Great episode boys. I’m on the collar of Nordic sweater 12, and row 46 of the new stocking. I found the chart a little small to follow so I’ve enlarged it a little and I’m finding it easier to keep on track. I will look forward to all your future doll stuff. I’m mainly into Barbie and Blythe. I have an authentic Blythe now, I’m posting a video about her soon.
Love, love, love the birthday food story. You 2 are so funny! Every time I plan food for an event, I have too much. It must be my Scandinavian background.
You have made me so happy! I want to make clothes by hand for my little bisque dolls's house dolls (I have more than a dozen) but I am a beginner in my old age. I also have a Sasha girl and a foot high wood antique doll. No doll has any clothing, poor things. I always watch you although I don't knit, but I can crochet and embroider. Your videos are enjoyed by me and my husband- the food stories sound like us- huge fridge/freezer & 100 yr. old house. Writing white watching- the creamy yellow and the light blue work so well together- don't use the white yarn.
Happy Wednesday! I love the cardigan with the intarsia roses. I will look forward to watching you knit that! Have a wonderful day! Hugs for Freja. 🤗❤️😘
I am 70 and started sewing doll clothes by hand over 65 years ago. I had access to cheaper cloth, cotton, flannel, old scraps. Today I hear them say use fray check. I've never seen it in person but seems to be a edge sealer. I love dolls and have Blythe dolls too.
I loved this episode! Loved it! I look forward to the short about doll clothing. The hexagon blocks are beautiful. And colors? I loved hearing you talk about colors. I'm not a garment maker by any stretch of imagination, quite the opposite actually. This summer, my niece asked me to crochet her a top... I know I want to line it, I haven't yet, but as I was making it, I kept thinking "What would Arne and Carlos do about this lining?" Anyway, thank you for al the expertise and inspiration you share. Oh, and I'll probably live by Arne/Carlos's line from now on: "If you think it's boring, put sequins on them", "When in doubt, put sequins on them"!!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
I appreciate the commentary on color planning SO much! I feel like choosing colors for my knitting projects need to be done at the moment and I've always wondered if I shouldn't be putting more thought and less feeling into it. Colors are so important, even if we don't realize how they affect us. I'm so relieved to hear experts comment on this - thank you both!
I loved making Barbie clothes for my daughters doll. My aunt gave me all mink and ermine scraps from her coats . Barbie had mink stole with satin lining with Barbie name embroider in stole Also full length ermine coat with rd lining. So fun to dress Barbie to the 9’s. All by hand.
so interesting listening to your experiences from the fashion industry!...my youngest son is currently studying at the London College of Fashion and he would find it very interesting! , I will definitely get him to watch your lovely videos! I love watching them as I work!🙂
We also leased a car once and said "never again". We stressed about the mileage the entire time. It all worked out in the end, so the worrying was for nothing, but we haven't leased since. Your mother's book is very special, Arne...thank you for sharing. xx
I found myself thinking of how WONDERFUL it would be to have Arne and Carlos as uncles….who made a trousseau for my Barbies. Oh my goodness! When I was little, my mother and grandmother (who were incredible artists) made clothes for my Barbie. The best thing I can remember was a pink flannel bathrobe that matched the one they made for me. A dear family friend crocheted doll clothes for Barbie. My Barbies traveled - they had very small PanAm bags that were rounded at the bottom. I kept that incredible collection of Barbies and their clothes in their “dream houses” (these were boxes, nothing fancy, with Barbie’s face on the outside and tiny hangers in “closets” when you opened them up) for many decades until they were lost in a terrible divorce. I bet that guy still has my Barbie dream house (and a beautiful convertible fro the 1950s!) and takes pleasure in the realization that I do NOT have it, or my mother’s homemade doll clothes or the PanAm bags. But! Time to make new memories. Onward! Thanks, guys.
I think it's a good thing you bought a freezer. It's very useful. For example: the organic whole wheat flour, rye flour, oat bran, almond flour, whole grains breads have to be frozen, otherwise they would become rotten quite fast (I don't buy it 1 cup, 1/3, 1/4 cup at a time or have to go to the grocery for small portion). The same for all nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans), meats, fish, vegetables, spaghetti sauce, pastry dough, fruits and all my jams (have to freeze them because I don't put a ton of sugar in it). I have all I need to cook and bake. Always ready.
Try pinking shears to cut fabric. These are scissors with saw tooth blades, sold online for very little. Fabric may still fray a bit but less than with straight blade. Thanks for sharing the pattern book. Love it!
I used to live near a thrift store that would get donations of small balls of yarn, and they'd sell them by the bag for a dollar or two. I got addicted to buy them so I have a ton of small balls of yarn. I make a lot of charity hats, so I will grab a bunch of them, and then put together what sings. It's fun!
The book is from Lutterloh System also know as Lutterloh Golden Rule. You need the "tape measure" from the system to plot out your pattern. No instructions on sewing. Menswear, women petite to plus, and children are available in modern sizing. Older books like your mothers are fun to hunt down, but body types and plotting have changed, however Lutterloh now has revised sizing on many vintage styles. I love to sew from it!
The cake/sausage conversation was hilarious 😂! I admire your talents as clothing designers and hand stitchers. I attended a museum exhibit of Jacqueline Kennedy’s clothing several years ago. It was evident that the clothing was exquisitely hand sewn. So beautiful
Yummy all that cake! Well done best idea to put into freezer! Arne love your Mums dressing making fashion book! Fashion then amazing and so much style! Weather here in North Uk 🇬🇧 on the coast is cool very autumnal we had summer few days in June ha! Ha! I remember your sentiment no bad weather only bad choice of clothing! And I’ve various waterproofs for various types rain ha! Ha! Thank you as always! Xx 🍰🍰🍰🍰🎂🍰🎂🍰🎂
So moving to hear you speak about the feeling that comes from doing something well and having a beautiful result. You expressed a joy that I am glad to be able to find in my making and the contributions that you have made to it. Such a thoughtful but of course entertaining episode. Well done once again.
At 64 years old I've been practising knitting your way, instead of the UK way. I'm having to train my index finger to stay down 😅. I automatically think I'm doing crochet
Love your cardigan Carlos like your wall colour as well, very nice both of you, is that the ticket office window behind you. Just trying to place the room. We have had so much rain here in the Uk as well. Need to send it abroad to help them out I think. Yes our main holiday month as well. I think the rain makes you feel cold. Arne we do not believe you, we know you better, all the excuses , dear me, then I guess you got a few slices. Wow 13 a lot of cake left over. Well not with Arne about. Haha oh no do not let Arne near that fish cart again Carlos. People years ago used to make their clothes as couldn’t afford to buy them in the shop, I am talking just after the wartime. Could you put interfacing around the edges to firm it a little more. I like your hexagon items Arne very pretty.sadly older vehicles get to a stage where they become costly, then the parts get harder to be able to get hold off. Lovely to have all the same. Yes your colour choice is really nice, with the warm colour just lifts it. Yes for sure your very interesting to sit and listen to, you always have good ideas with things and ideas that’s always worth a try, ah you answered my question about the ticket office haha.
Se most definetly does!
It’s like a fine piece of
blue-and-white porcelain! ❤
Color is what makes life beautiful! Love your color theories, Carlos!
Love that you shared your mother’s book, Arne. It’s amazing and sad how many of these skills have been lost😢
Wow! love that book

Love whatever you two do on your RUclips channel. Variety is the spice of life. Keep up the good work
I’m with you both, cake and sausage!
Seriously though, you inspire me and make me laugh! Watching you guys makes my day better, thank you so much.

What a fun morning I’ve had watching y’all and the beautiful yarn. Thank you!
Thanks for making the shorts. I love being able to see the both of you every day! I look so forward to my daily dose!

Arne that book is amazing. I am here in the US and have found many older patterns from that era in Thrift Shops.
Thx for an enjoyable interaction. Love your sense if humour, my feel good guys.
Continue to enjoy life and be safe.❤❤
Lovely and inspiring episode , thanx 😊
Chaps, you certainly awaken my spark! 🎉 I would never have knit a mouse before discovering you both.
My mother always said NO pink and red together and I always loved pink and red together! 😂😂 Bless her departed soul! ❤
You have so many inspiring things going on! Thanks so much for all this content! So happy I was able to order Christmas in July patterns🎉🎉🎉
Your love and use of color is one of the reasons I watch.
Woohoo! August 1st for us in Australia!! Thank you. I'm north of Sydney.
I do like that cardigan/sweater, Carlos! Those colours you've decided to use are gorgeous. Think the Vanilla will give it a bit of Mmmm!
Try pinking shears to cut fabric. These are scissors with saw tooth blades, sold online for very little. Fabric may still fray a bit but less than with straight blade. Thanks for sharing the pattern book. Love it!
Greetings,
More Crocheting, plz.
Cheers,
Rachel
Watched and gave thumbs up 👍💜
Happy belated undetermined-aged birthday, Arne!
Carlos looked great in that sweater jacket.❤
Sad your beetle is in sick bay. Wonderful episode! Loved it all! Thank you! I did not catch it live stream.😊
Carlos, you make that sweater look FANTASTIC!!!
This is the first time I have seen a doll that changes eye color, very cool!
The hue of colors together create the balance that allows the rhythm that makes using many colors together work
I loom forward to watching you knit intarsia. I have no clue how it's done! Beautiful colors!
Loved the video. Fun times
I love all the RUclips shorts you are doing! You have me wanting to sew doll clothes
I laughed so hard listening to the cake and sausage “explosion”- Arne will have cake❤️
I think that live or recorded, I'm thankful for all that you do.
Arne,
I would love to find a book like your Mother had!
Hand sewing is a fabulous skill. There are so many beautiful stitches one can create by hand.
Mother’s book looks like an early copy of the Lutterloh system. You can still buy this and new patterns are being released 😊
At 71, I decided to knit Norwegian style. It took a while, but it is now effortless.
'Fray stop' might help, used to stop shedding or fraying. It may be too stiff though. Love the dolls.
