I didnt realize i was born in the wrong time until I learned im probably to young for Ruth. Her dedication and enthusiam towards her passions is truly invigorating and inspiring.
Stumbling upon this magnificent presentation today [2.1.23] is like an early Valentine's Day gift. I absolutely adore Ruth Goodman! Thank your for this glorious feast of her wisdom!
Being from the rural US I never really thought about coal. Occasionally someone will say something about the coal shoot in an old building but it was never the primary fuel in our area (as far as I know). It was fascinating to hear Ruth talk about the transition to coal and all of the trickle down effects. I would love to hear if there were similar effects when fuel changed to oil or electricity. Thank you for sharing.
I could listen to Ruth Goodman all day long. I learn more about History from her than I ever do reading books.
IMHO, one of the most interesting women on earth. Seen all her programs, that I can find, more than once.
How lucky you are to get an hour of Ruth's historical knowledge. Lovely

Hey Ruth, i miss your farm shows
I've only just heard about this video, a FB group member highlighted it.
A gem!
I have a question. Did not the ancient use of charcoal made things like toasting and boiling common before coal?
Ruth starts speaking five minutes in.
