I used one of the same 1 ton engine cranes on the half ton setting to pull the V10 in and out of the Impreza. Let me tell you, they are not sized for that, but they will take the abuse. I had to either turn it diagonally sometimes or have the front pulley of the engine pushing on the hydraulic cylinder with some cushion squished between to even make it work. It also say holding up the engine for days and weeks at times and never lost any height. Very impressive.
@Sarah-N-Tuned Your comment at 4:12 about the sound generated by the ultrasonic bath hurting your ears even though the operation loudness level wasn't extreme or untolerable with ear protection I can relate. Years ago I used to work in a plastic injection molding plant and had similar effects with using a sonic welder. After each shift when I used the sonic welder I would hear that steady high pitched whining tone for up to six hours later on average. And it didn't matter what type or amount of hearing protection whether foam ear plugs or firearm firing range headphones or even using both of them together it was useless. I still suffered from the pain, the ringing and headaches after each use so I empathize with you.
To clean small parts in my ultrasonic cleaning machine, I put them in a "lingerie bag" that are available in the laundry department of stores like Walmart. I have also used several large glass bottles so I can do an initial cleaning followed by a second cleaning. Recently, I found that soaking greasy, grimy parts in Zep Industrial Cleaner (purple bottle) worked as well as the alcohol/acetone/xylene mixture I had been using before.
A couple easy things to look into for the 3uz and maybe SC430 that might help your throttle body issues. For my 2jz-ge vvt-i swap throttle body; 1= 3d printed 'throttle lock' to get rid of FBW. 2= 3d printed cover + removal of FBW motor. No wheel speed sensors in swap car so, even without removing the FBW motor, it will not try to close the TB for traction control. Every comment helps, even this one, somehow.
@@SarahnTuned I am guessing that the UZ throttle bodies do not have a physical cable connected to the pedal then. It is a fairly strange setup on the IS300. Well I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
Great stuff Sarah. Maybe a helpful tip... I just tried some Berryman's Chem-Dip. I bought 3/4 of a gallon, not very expensive. I soaked some 50 year old small block pistons that were completely covered in baked on carbon. 24 hours in the Chem-Dip and they looked brand new. Carbon just washed off with paint thinner. Those valve covers would clean up in no time. It did not stain the metal.

That acid will also remove rust like nobody's business. However, after using it the part will immediately start RE-rusting because it is SO clean. So you must immediately flush with a lot of water and then oil, grease or paint right away. Don't let a dog or cat near it though as they are always sniffing around. The fumes are AWFUL and could probably harm an animal. One other thing.....the fumes will start cleaning the rust off anything right near it, but the fumes will also cause a layer of rust to form on tools or other bare metal parts a ways away. I am a retired brick/block mason and we use that acid, diluted with water to clean mortar off bricks. Be sure you don't set a bucket with some spilled over the side on concrete. It will leave an ugly ring. Also, just FYI it does not clean concrete off anything, just mortar. It will etch concrete some though.

I will say I do appreciate you going to the lengths of not doing "the same thing as everyone else" and just throwing an LS or K engine into your projects.
A word of caution with Muriatic acid- with prolonged exposure, the fumes will flash rust everything ferrous in your shop.. I left a small jar near some cans of spray paint which caused the cans to rust and burst open. Make sure that the cap on the bottle is replaced and any remaining acid is neutralized!

If I had to use one word to describe you, it would be “ Legendary “
Sarah,
Thank you for the smiles 🐧🐧🐧.
Keep the aspidistra flying!

I love that you seem so satisfied by cleaning things. It's quite amusing.
Put Ads in your videos. We will still watch them. I even avoid hitting the 'skip ads' on channels I like. Helps to support the channel.
When I was 16 I worked at a marina cleaning boat bottoms.. we used that same acid... no special hood lol. They didn't care enough about us gen Xers. The fumes would take your breath away
My first two cars were Celicas. A 74 and a 75. I’ve driven several newer models. They all define my love of Toyotas.
Love your sense of humor and attitude ❤
Yellow,Black or Grey to match the workshop!..........Brilliant 🤩
Sarah Energy is unstoppable!
Yes engine stands are sketchy. The mounting bolts are in a sheer position. I always support the front of the engine with a block of wood or something.
Dear Sarah
The degreaser you are looking for is called Awesome, made in L.A., and is dirt cheap, not abrasive but great on plenums and aluminum parts.
Please take note and save money.
I too buy tools and accessories based on the color palette of the garage!
I'm really glad the ultrsonic sound does not get picket up in the video! Be careful with that device, put it in a seperate room or something. Its a crasy noise I still have a tinnitus from... since 8 years.
You can always shoot a matte clear coat on all the aluminum stuff to keep them looking fresh, intake manifold, valve covers, etc......😊
If you plan on continuing to restore cars/parts, you should really invest in a large tank Ultrasonic Cleaner. Something you could've thrown that entire intake manifold into. It'll clean all the nooks, crannies, and small channels you'll never get to physically.
"That's not real life' is so true, and I love that the engine did not just jump in the car magically built. Sure, I want to see it run but I want to see the entire process more. This whole recipe of parts from different series and Lexus bits is super interesting.
