chocomint's Made of Fire HDDT 98.54 full combo. Without a doubt, one of the most impressive plays ever set in osu! history, but one that takes some experience to appreciate fully. In the 12 years that this map has been ranked, chocomint's score remains the ONLY DT FC, and there's much more to unpack about this score. While some maps easily convey how difficult they are through the raw aim, or speed requirements, Made of Fire is much more nuanced than it may seem at first glance. To help illustrate just how difficult this play is, I would like to break down and analyze aspects of the map and the play itself. Right off the bat, we get a sense of the density of the notes, and the reading difficulty associated. With DT applied, the map becomes around 243 bpm, and approximately AR 9.67, a higher note density than most players are used to. Still, this should be manageable, but adding to the difficulty is the constant rhythm of, and spacing of the patterns which continues for the entire map. These would already pose a significant challenge to players' rhythm sense, reading, and finger control, but with hidden, the reading becomes MUCH harder. This is all bread and butter to someone like chocomint, who plays maps with similar patterns all the time, but everything we've gone over is just the beginning. Ask any top player what the hardest part of Made of Fire is, and they will all say the aim control. Many of the patterns in this map are continuous with strange velocity and angle changes, which need very fine adjustments in a player's aim to hit. None are more apparent than the various zig-zag patterns, which appear in the highest spacing sections. These require a player to aim to each note in a 1/4th beat time window, while potentially changing to an almost opposite direction. This is where chocomint shines, as almost no players have the level of aim control which he does. Bringing it all together is where the magic of this play really lies. DT alone makes the aim control barely in reach for any other player, but adding hidden makes these highly control-intensive patterns nearly impossible. Following the rhythm on such a map can be hard already as well, and trying to keep high accuracy, given the layout of the patterns, becomes ridiculous too. The real challenge is diverting focus between the aim aspect and the tapping aspects of the map, while keeping your reading in check as well. Keeping up with the map the entire way through to such a degree is exactly why chocomint's play is so astonishing. It's hard to put into words how much skill goes into a play like this, but to get an idea, I recommend trying the map for yourself. chocomint's HDDT score truly is in a league of its own when it comes to the aspects described earlier. Just over 2 years after it was set, some players are now approaching DT FCs, but not with nearly as high accuracy, and the majority lacking hidden. For now, it will remain a dream play for every top play, and a reality for chocomint. Hopefully this video has given you some more insight into, and appreciation of, one of osu!'s best plays of all time.

mainly played the game around 2014-2018, and the one thing i can say is anything cookiezi related needs to be higher. That man WAS osu, and to me the most iconic things to ever happen in this game was the HDHR freedom dive fc, cookiezi's unban, BTMC's big black fail, and rrtyui's big black FC. Those were some of the first things to truly reach outside of the osu sphere, especially both big black plays
10/10 amazing video, I've missed some of the newer stuff from the last couple of years so this was definitely a much needed watch too. Also brought back so many memories from the good ol days :)
I think that there is space for another video this type. Story about galaxy collapse/DADADADA, vaxei rasputin godmode, vaxei FC on because maybe… Great video tho, loved it!
I mostly played osu! between 2012 and 2016, so I'm frankly not too familiar with most of the more recent plays, but it's interesting to see the game from another person's perspective. One of my favourite moments was Cookiezi's 1465x combo on FD4D with HDHR... in 2013, at a time when he held the only FC on the map at all. The fact that he was eventually the first person to actually get FD4D HDHR FC, after being offline for over 2 years, is just crazy to me. I was a bit surprised that you mentioned WhiteCat getting unbanned and speedrunning #1, but not Cookiezi getting unbanned and speedrunning #1. However, I guess that makes for a much longer story with all that happened in 2015 before he got finally unbanned. Also, no mention of WWW, hvick225, Sayonara-bye, and other legends from the pre-2015 era, sadge. o7
@@arynosu I think WWW had a lot of meme-worthy plays. Defenders HR FC was in 2015, similar experience to Azer's United HDHR. The first Remote Control DT FC, the first FC of Freedom Dive 4D was crazy back then. Any TAG4 map shenanigans were pretty noteworthy. I also missed any mention of the brief touchscreen meta before TD was introduced. Some of them were very impressive imo. Maybe it's just my nostalgia, idk. Also Legendre's Image Material FC was a very controversial moment in osu! history. Meme maps like Brain Power, which briefly brought the community together... Basically, anything from the osu!memories is nostalgic. XD
Whitecat was banned for multiaccounting/boosting, not cheating afaik. also, the whitecat/mrekk situation was fucking *wild* whitecat gets unbanned and speedruns rank 1 (less than 100 submitted scores), getting like 2k pp over the next highest, then talks about lack of competition, and begins branching out into other skillsets (HR/nomod spaced streams/tech-y stuff), people talk about maybe seeing an era of dominance we haven't seen since cookiezi. mrekk was floating in the single/double digit ranks. About a year and a half later he does to whitecat exactly what whitecat did to others - speedruns #1 then zooms to 2k+ pp over everyone else. Ridiculous to see. I remember noting that the difference from #1 to #2 was bigger than the difference between like #2 and 48 or something.
There "top 50 iconic moments in OSU! History" and then there's "top 50 iconic forum/cookiezi moments ever".... I'd say that that is actually a valid title because they have so many....
Mopemope horror map, Angelsim Red like roses hard part GODMODE, Www Galaxy Collapse GODMODE, Cookiezi first FC Image Material Cookiezi first words on public

0:49 why does everyone forget that it wasn't just masterpiece, he also cheated on refrain of the lovely great war
Because it was iconic on masterpiece in which that he got shortly banned after?
Toy !roll 1 kinda legendary imo
Recency bias is crazy with this one. What about some old school legends like saturos reaching rank 0.
20:08 did someone noticed rafis arms?
18:27 honestly so surprised he stayed awake during this play
20:47 lmfao I love Ryan
Rafis saying "I can not scream, cuz its so late" will never be forgotten. While being so happy!
WHERE IS ROHULK'S "I'M NOT OVERSTREAMING 222BPM!! ARE YOU BLIND?!"
glad to have been part of the yomi yori bounty
#44 he looks like a villain when ever the hero gets pasts his 2 archers
10/10 amazing video, I've missed some of the newer stuff from the last couple of years so this was definitely a much needed watch too. Also brought back so many memories from the good ol days :)
BRO I literaly have been searching for this kind of video for days now, and suddenly you post it. What a miracle
i honestly feel like 727 should be higher up on the list because its seriously one of the most iconic clips and or known things in the osu community
I think that there is space for another video this type. Story about galaxy collapse/DADADADA, vaxei rasputin godmode, vaxei FC on because maybe…
Great video tho, loved it!
i like this video it takes me back when idke got number 1 in 2019
I do not care what anyone says, whitecat and frostyboy is the best thing to come out of this game.
Dam was waiting for some old school iconic moments, only got a little more than a few.
no WubWoofWolf moments is crazy disrespect to one of the GOATs
Well he was in Poland’s OWC team. But I do think his pp record should maybe be here too
Tbh mrekk's marianne pp record deserves to be on this list
I dunno why but i love this guys voice
ayy thanks man
@@arynosu :D
Vaxei's Tsukinami FC brings tears to my eyes
Finally someone that's putting some respect on Akolibeds name
Vaxei Godmode Rasputin 10.3⭐ SS x1284 combo is Iconic with 2.6M views in the video 🔥
vaxei, whitecat and mrekk against the world was fun to see too.
Good video although couldve mentioned either xasuma or momothemelon completions
Also, no mention of WWW, hvick225, Sayonara-bye, and other legends from the pre-2015 era, sadge. o7
what are your favourite pre-2015 iconic moments from that era, if you have some vivid one's I can include them.
XD
One more iconic moment was 4 digit gets a 1k pp play back when it was still pretty rare
21:20 bro u nailed the pronunciation bro is secretly from poland fr
cookiezi 800 is the most iconic moment bar none easily
the first 900pp if ranked by cookiezi is crazy too
honorable mention:binfy kira kira days incident
NO FREEDOMDIVER?????? OR ANY TOUCH SCREEN PLAYS???
But what about the moment with the only one SS on the Image Material map, and also with the screen turned upside down?
osu coe 2018 is very iconic lol i expected it to appear here
Make more videos like this dude
Bro still have www fc in gf owc 2017, respect
Whitecat was banned for multiaccounting/boosting, not cheating afaik.
also, the whitecat/mrekk situation was fucking *wild*
whitecat gets unbanned and speedruns rank 1 (less than 100 submitted scores), getting like 2k pp over the next highest, then talks about lack of competition, and begins branching out into other skillsets (HR/nomod spaced streams/tech-y stuff), people talk about maybe seeing an era of dominance we haven't seen since cookiezi. mrekk was floating in the single/double digit ranks. About a year and a half later he does to whitecat exactly what whitecat did to others - speedruns #1 then zooms to 2k+ pp over everyone else. Ridiculous to see. I remember noting that the difference from #1 to #2 was bigger than the difference between like #2 and 48 or something.
Now we have another Watercolor incident, im rank 74k and got 483pp on emoticons (fixed now)
15:51 oooo omedeto aaaa aaaa oooo ooo omgu😂😂
the overstreaming one is the best
no mention of any of bikko's scores?
you jinkesed it with the mrekk 1700 pp play
18:59 is 1427,27
Wow Aryn great video
rustbell was a legend at that time
There "top 50 iconic moments in OSU! History" and then there's "top 50 iconic forum/cookiezi moments ever".... I'd say that that is actually a valid title because they have so many....
crazy how this doesn't have rrtyui show match image material S rank
