  • "The first full length album by Alexisonfire completely embodies the sound of late teens and early 20's. Full of dumb confidence and lacking in concentration. Hundreds of parts and riffs strung together in to a fun little hodge podge. We were living and writing freely. Sometimes too much freedom isn't always a good thing." - George Pettit
Alexisonfire sat down on camera at Dine Alone HQ to chat about each release and their favourite AOF moments, album by album.
    Episode 1 - Alexisonfire
    Episode 2 - Watch Out!
    Episode 3 - Crisis
    Episode 4 - Old Crows/Young Cardinals
    Episode 5 - Farewell Tour
Hailing from St. Catharines, Alexisonfire rose up out of the Southern Ontario underground in late 2001, to become one of the most successful indie bands in Canada. The band’s success also reached far beyond Canada’s borders. AOF released four hugely successful studio albums, Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Crisis debuted at #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan chart (Canada), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals debuted at #2, and charted at #9 on the US Billboard Independent Album chart. Watch Out helped earn the band New Group of the Year at the 2004 JUNO Awards. Their first 3 albums achieved Platinum certification in Canada while Old Crows / Young Cardinals reached Gold certification. The band also topped charts and graced several notable music magazine covers internationally (Kerrang, Blunt, Big Cheese, Canadian Musician, Exclaim! ). AOF’s sold-out 10th Year Anniversary Farewell tour in December 2012 touched down on four continents in 24 days, illustrating how meaningful the band still is to their legion of fans around the world.

These guys make being in a band look really easy, like 'as soon as we started a band we were (mostly) just out of high school, yet we were all exceptional songwriters and we recorded an album that everyone loved and we toured and had heaps of people come to our shows.' Or maybe it was just that easy for them, Idk.

    The only band ever.

Hands down the best AoF album. It was that untamed energy and that eclectic songwriting that really made the band stand out in the first place. So many great memories associated with these songs, too.

I really hope you guys plan on releasing at least a compilation of show footage. Alexisonfire will always be remembered by their amazing live performances and to not have something that captures that environment, you are cheating all the fans that aren't self-righteous hipsters that sit around with their record players. I want to see George jumping into crowds and Steele's onstage antics, that's what Alexisonfire's legacy will be. I was at the final show in Hamilton and there were plenty of professional videos recording the show, I don't see why releasing that footage would be an issue. Seeing as how I don't have room to set up a record player to enjoy this boxset and since there's only 1000, most of your fans won't ever see it anyway, I guess I'll have to remember AOF from bad quality RUclips videos.
    Thanks DineAlone.
    Sincerely, an upset AOF fan.

Watching these interviews is inspirational, but also such a downer at the same time. The idea that you could start a band and be playing 300 shows a year in the formative years in today's music scene is such a pipe dream. Those days were something special

I joined a band with some friends circa 2004 where we played Pulmonary Archery in the studio. I did George’s part and I wanted so badly to be like him I even had a yellow shirt like his. Good times.

Dallas is rigt about the video. Seeing the Pulmonary Archery video on much music is what got me into the band back then. I'm sure many others can say the same. How awesome is it to hear music that abrasive on mainstream media?

Love the box set / anthology idea from AOF, but it's a double-edged sword. You hope so much that this is just a pre-cursor to some sort of new album or tour, but you know its just not in the cards. However, perhaps the idea of no more AOF makes their music even that much more timeless and enjoyable.
