  • "In 2003 we were hugely influenced by current emotive indie and ambient rock music so we attempted to inject a little bit of that into our songs. Still writing very freely but time and travel had turned us into more methodical song writers. It's a very bizarre sounding record but you can hear the improvement in musicianship compared to the self titled. We were no longer virgins to the studio and in the very capable hands of producer Julius Butty. Something was starting to happen." - George Pettit
Alexisonfire sat down on camera at Dine Alone HQ to chat about each release and their favourite AOF moments, album by album.

    Episode 2 - Watch Out!
    Episode 3 - Crisis
    Episode 4 - Old Crows/Young Cardinals
    Episode 5 - Farewell Tour
Hailing from St. Catharines, Alexisonfire rose up out of the Southern Ontario underground in late 2001, to become one of the most successful indie bands in Canada. The band’s success also reached far beyond Canada’s borders. AOF released four hugely successful studio albums, Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Crisis debuted at #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan chart (Canada), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals debuted at #2, and charted at #9 on the US Billboard Independent Album chart. Watch Out helped earn the band New Group of the Year at the 2004 JUNO Awards. Their first 3 albums achieved Platinum certification in Canada while Old Crows / Young Cardinals reached Gold certification. The band also topped charts and graced several notable music magazine covers internationally (Kerrang, Blunt, Big Cheese, Canadian Musician, Exclaim! ). AOF’s sold-out 10th Year Anniversary Farewell tour in December 2012 touched down on four continents in 24 days, illustrating how meaningful the band still is to their legion of fans around the world.

Happiness by the kilowatt is based on a Kurt Vonnegut short story called "Euphio Question" about a man who invents a happiness machine and realizes that continuous happiness is not all its cracked up to be. Definitely was one of Alexis' best songs

*it's (short for "it is"; "its" is the possessive form)
*Alexis's (singular possessive; there's only _one_ Alexis, not multiple :P)

"We tried to move away from the screaming" So glad they didn't, the screaming is what makes them Alexisonfire

Watch Out! Was definitely their best album. It kind of teetered between their developing song writing skills and more refined execution and commercial success. I think the best part is the repeat value it has. Happiness is what they ended their shows with. Sublime.

Happiness by the kilowatt is my favorite song ever. I have seen it live a few times and it has made me cry both times especially since they play it as the last song. Alexis is the best band ever and has brought more happiness and joy to my life than anything else will. Thank you boys. Proud to be Canadian

"He should try to pronounce them" man too bad he wasn't around for the first record.... the first record is great but you can't understand a word George is saying. That shift on Watch Out! is a big part of what makes that record a masterpiece. I would kill for that vocal clarity on Alexisonfire

Absolutely unreal to think they hadn’t considered the melodic side of their sound until Watch Out! and Dallas just stepping up to the plate and serving all of the flawless lyrics of WO! naturally. He was 24(?) and yet sang like he had a decade of vocal training.

wish they would have stayed in this style instead of these vocal battle songs . should have kept the screams and used it more once it stopped I feel the band went down hill and well know they quit so ....
