Blows my mind that some guys need water to get a smooth finish. Here’s a tip bro - mix the pointing up so fluffy you don’t need the water. Then polish your trowel up really smooth,
The mortar he is using has a flexible rubbery compound, it prevents cracking and designed to go over the old bedding mortar. I am in the process of doing my roof the same way. There are a number of brands available, looks like he is using Dunlop repointing. Hope this helps.
Very good work and tidy too
Nice work mate. I like the tying on the coffee can with the water idea.

You do very well ! Can you help me to repair my 7 meter long roof ridge caps.I live at Logan City of Brisbane. Thanks.
Too much water
Looks like you stuck the new mortar on top of old mortar, which isn't the way to do it

Where are the freaking weepholes?
Were are the weepholes
Weep holes hard to see but are there in the right side of the pan.Poked holes through the pointing after half set.
Pointless (!) without knowing what is the compound he is using !!
This not repointing cover up old decaying mortar joke
Repointing meant take old mortar out n REPOINT it
He's pointing over new bedding with new ridge tiles .
