    Lots of complaints on the 2016+ Tacoma. The 2015 being basically the same since 2005 is a well sorted out and proven vehicle. 2015 all day! Even though it may not have all the bells and whistles.

    Gen 3 (2016+) still have a lot of issues to work out. 2015 and below are more reliable but they are more rugged forsure. If I could have the old power train in the older Tacoma in the new body style that would be cool. Also overland built 2015 Tacoma’s look much better than built 2016

    I love your reviews, they're very well put together. As an off-road enthusiast, I personally feel the 2015 is better equipped to handle tough obstacles on the trail. The one you reviewed, does hide the parts, but it also harms the ground clearance and the approach angle. I'm old school when it comes to trucks: the less tech, the less chance for things to break. Keep doing a great job on your reviews, they have actually served me well in finding my sister a great Lexus!

    If you just want a Taco to roll down the freeway at 70 mph with +2 mpg improvement, then get the new gen 3 with the repurposed Lexus 3.5L V6. If you need a truck with bottom end torque and perform according to the reason you bought a 4x4 then you want a gen 2 with the 4.0L V6 designed to be a truck engine and not act like a recycled sedan engine. Search youtube... you will see even the small 2.7L I4 beats the 3.5L V6 off the line until the 3.5L gets wound up. 2015 4x4 V6 TRD Off Road 6spd MT owner here... change the grill to the TRD version that says TOYOTA instead of the double oval T, change to aftermarket projector headlamps w/HID, go to URD UnderDogRacing and upgrade your intake & exhaust with a true tuned system. Looks and performance will beat any gen 3.

  • @blackout4203
    @blackout4203 6 лет назад +5

    IMO: 2015 has a more reliable powertrain that outputs better low end torque than the 3rd Gen. Plus, the 4.0 L will accept a TRD Supercharger that produces 305 HP when compared to the 3.5 L at 278 HP.

    You don’t need a sunroof ! I have a sunroof in one of my vehicles and I hardly use it . All you feel is a hotter roof during the summer because of the glass . . The 15 has a nicer front end . The lights are bigger and the grill is ok . The 16 thinner headlights look weird , as well as the grill . Toyota has always been a hit or miss with the front ends . Kinda like the 05 corolla ( head lights and grill are ehhh ) . I think they really need to make the grill more rectangular rather than the shape it’s in and make the headlights bigger that goes with the Tundra as well .

    • @benderbendingrodriguez2868
      @benderbendingrodriguez2868 3 года назад

      Agreed! The 2016+ grill is so big and ugly and not to mention the headlights are too tiny in comparison. Its just off balance

    • @RHAD-sy3oi
      @RHAD-sy3oi 4 года назад

      Yes! And projectors can be easily upgraded to HID bulbs & power supply that will give 3x the light output of stock halogen bulbs. Projectors have better designed optics to put more light on the road and less in eyes of other drivers. There aftermarket projector headlight assemblies for 2012-2015 Tacos.

    Just look at the ugly fender design radical 45° degree cuts behind the wheels front & rear from 2005-2015 horrible design the designers must had been on an LSD trip when they thought of this thats why I settled for 2017 tacoma trd.I also have to say the dash also looks out of place horrible...sticks out like a bull horns nothing but poor designed junk back then..toyota must finally had the designers drug tested & fired them all thats why 2016 above all started looking better in design..

      The 05 to 15 Tacoma is basically legendary in terms of being a useful awesome good looking truck. The newer Tacomas are very flashy to look nice parked at the mall. The fact you called the 15 Tacoma junk because it wasn't pretty enough tells us what you do with your truck.

      @@GreenLittleRobot No it's just being honest about the design that toyota had kept for 10 whole years.. Absolutely horrible design on the tacomas that it literally looks like they had forgotten to round out the edges on the fender wells on the assemblyline..

      @@BurtBowers Thats the thing. Tacoma is going more for looks in these newer models to fend out the competion such as: Ranger,Gladiator, Colorado, etc. Hard to compare the newer model to the previous generation because Tacoma basically had a monopoly for 10+ years in the mid size market.
