      @@massimilianodelrosso5495Actually yeah, that’s exactly what it is. In video games it always takes way longer to level up at 50 then 1, or 100 then 50. So if you apply it to art it’s very similar.

      there's also, at least for me, the feeling that (the more skilled I become or the more knowledge I study) my art is improving slower than I thought, like I know for example perspective and composition on a theorical level, but my skills don't match that in fact backgrounds are something that I really struggle with

    • @3hxde
      @3hxde Год назад +18

      @@NoxilNobody personally i don’t think looking at it as “I’m not improving as much as I should be” and more just that, you are starting to get to the point of your style. There is just critiques that you have that you can fix by focusing harder on fixing them. Like for example your backgrounds, I suggest focusing on learning perspective backgrounds, and purely practicing backgrounds for at least a little while. You will notice a significant improvement in your art, this is exactly what I did and I become so much better at backgrounds. I’m still not perfect at them, samdoesart is MUCH better than me, but he has also been doing them for wayy longer than I have. I only just recently started detailed backgrounds with perspective around last year sometime. But yeah, just the fact I studied it so much, and actually put in the effort to get better, I became a lot better at backgrounds and definitely “leveled up” a lot when it comes to art.

    “Good art serves it’s purpose.” I feel like we can easily get caught up with trying to be perfect, but even the best artists make mistakes. What’s most important is drawing the way YOU want according to YOUR goals. So you can make your drawing super detailed or super simple. I personally like more anime and cartoony style drawings, which has way less detail than realism, but the drawings I make are still good because they serve their purpose, to form a believable image and story to myself/the viewer. Yes, no matter what stage you’re in continue to study other art, continue to improve, and continue to expand your knowledge, but don’t beat yourself up just because your art isn’t the most detailed or perfect. God bless you guys and thanks for reading! 😃😃😃😃

    Yes I also use an intuos Wacom tablet and it's easy to get used to if you use it to draw simpler things when you start

    I shifted from a graphic tablet to a screen tablet exactly a month ago after working on the graphic for 3 years. And working on the display tablet is so much more fun than working on graphic tablet!!

    It’s been like 2-3 years since I really got into drawing but since then, my art has been constantly evolving like if I look back at my art from 1 month ago it has drastically changed from what do now. I don’t find any struggle in looking back at my art and being like wow that sucks, because I draw in a totally different way, but my problem here is to stick with one way of drawing.

    Hey Sam, Apple has the sidecar feature where you can connect your iPad to your mac and use it as a second monitor and Apple pencil still works with it! You can connect via Bluetooth but I find that a wired connection is much more stable :)

    Your videos always inspire me to draw and this video made me look back at art that I drew in 2019-2020, way from drawing anime styled chracters to semi stylised as anime made me realise the growth of skill. You're doing great content in every way possible keep going!!!

    I’m kind of new to this channel but I love the transparency he gives. I’m talking about the “idiot, terrible, disappointment” talk. It’s refreshing to hear this rather than the fake nice (I know it’s his work). I try to do this kind of talk to my past work too.
    Just a great topic! 😎👍🏻

    I love my old drawings, i never cringe when i see them. It's the best i could do at the time. Of course, i notice things that are not quite right, but sadly, there are also things that i did better then, because i practiced more (e.g hands)

    From 2010 till 2021 I used non screen Wacom tablets (first a bamboo, then an intuos). Now I use an iPad and it’s been amazing. Since I heard what a cintiq was when I was in highschool, I always wanted to draw on a screen. I’m so happy to have not only a screen to draw on, but a screen to draw on while sitting on the couch 🥹❤️ despite using a screen less tablet for so long, I think if I tried now, I’d have to re learn the hand eye co ordination from scratch😂

    I happened to watch this video right after I just finished a digital redraw from a sketchbook drawing 2 years ago-
    I'd been feeling really unmotivated to draw literally anything and was envying my past self's drive to pump out art in my sketchbooks, so I decided to try and get myself out of it by drawing one of the drawings I still loved the concept of, but just didn't really know how to actually execute it. Comparing the two side by side made me feel really accomplished and see how far I've really come, even in smaller, specific things like linework or how I draw hair now.
    Anyways thank you so much for this video, it helped me build some confidence, along with realizing that a part of a piece that I still really like from years ago could also mean something I've been holding off on- thanks Sam, you're the best kind of teacher for art babies like me XD

    Lemme tell you I have been into art learning on and off from when I was a kid and you won't believe me but my drawings as a child was sooo good even tho I wasn't learning it professionally. Basically I would be able to copy exact face to face. Although I was very weak in coloring, still am as I pursued shading. And now I am 18 and have to start from the beginning learning it properly
