1:03 The thing is, the geometry in base 8 tracks were made with the textures in mind. Simply adding better textures to the buildings wouldn't solve the problem. The devs behind this DLC would have to remodel everything just for those building textures to look good.
Good point, I should have been more specific during that section of the video, I felt at the time there wasn’t much reason to dwell on it. I believe it would be beneficial to tweak the models and then add textures that are of a higher quality. Of course, as long as Nintendo provides the developers of the Booster Course Pass enough time, resources, and, if necessary, a bigger team. While I’m generally happy with the Booster Course Pass as a consumer, that does not mean I’m opposed to a greater remastering of some of these tracks, more in line with base Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
@@TygerTeal Oh no, I agree with you there. I just wanted to point that out since so many people believe slapping 'more textures' on everything would solve everything.
i absolutely LOVE that yoshi's island track, it's amazing, i'm afraid the tour tracks still continues to be kinda bland compared to the others, kind of kills that mario kart vibe with real places haha, but they can still be fun! that singapore map is actually great! i see there's only room for improviment on the future tracks so i'm excited! i loved the script and edits! amazing video dude!
@Writing Counting well being real cities is the reason why they feel bland, it doesn't work with the Mario Kart 8 game play and aspect, but that's just my opinion I'm still in love with the DLCs haha, will be excited for next wave even if it is tour maps
@Writing Counting No! Not at all, the style just misses Mario kart, the Singapore map is the most liked out of the tour ones and I belive its because it kept more that Mario kart 'chaotic' feeling Not saying they are bad, just that they could've been better
I like the points you make in the video, but I'll have to disagree on DS Mario Circuit. Yeah its a circuit track, but the layout is actually more intense compared to others like Wii or GCN, and a little bit of elevation treatment. And honestly, it deserves this spot more than Airship Fortress and Luigi's Mansion. Those tracks have been remade twice and from how people react, the version if Airship Fortress that would've been added isn't as good as it used to be. Every track besides the opening track deserves a remake and DS Mario Circuit was a nice inclusion.
That’s fair! With it’s inclusion in Wave 4, I did find it be more compelling and more fun to race on than in Mario Kart DS, and I do generally enjoy the track. I agree than the Tour version of Airship Fortress is a downgrade of the DS original and the 7 remake, and would likely be the version that 8 Deluxe would build off of. While I would still prefer that track, or to see it make it’s way into 8 Deluxe (ignoring the prefix leak), as I just find the track to be well themed, creative, a joy to race on, and I want to see it in HD in this engine, DS Mario Circuit is far from an actual poor inclusion. And it certainly deserves a remake, as does any Mario (or Luigi) Circuit, they are generally good tracks. And yeah, Figure 8 Circuit really is the only DS track that doesn’t need to return LMAO I can see the argument around those tracks already receiving remakes, and yeah, that’s a good point, and this one, as I conveyed, is surprisingly well thought out. It’s far from a bad addition, just not the most interesting to me personally. But I’m glad you found it to be one you’ve really enjoyed! I’m never going to be against love for Mario Kart DS.
@@TygerTeal Yeah, I get why people would prefer a different track added but hey, at the end of the day we got something besides figure 8 circuit so its a big win for DS fans.
@@mailpaper7754 Massive W for avoiding Figure 8 Circuit and still getting a great track from Mario Kart DS. And also Shroom Ridge, I’ve always really liked that track. Waluigi Pinball is self explanatory LMAO
@@TygerTeal Yeah, glad with this DLC Shroom Ridge has gotten the love its deserved and Waluigi Pinball is just Waluigi Pinball, good already and got some noice graphical upgrades.
I'm glad to hear you talk about the 'Fruit Cup' as you are an expert on Fruitiness.

People mostly think the cities are bland because they hate Tour, all that bias just makes me chuckle. Prepare for yet another 3 cities next wave

Wave 6 is going to be 8 remasters of Baby Park.
Finally, GameCube, DS, and Tour Baby Park variations, my life is complete
Maybe not the ds one...
