Be prepared for all the comments about its appearance… I know I had tons on my video. People seem to forget it's a fire alarm not a decoration, functionality is more important than aesthetics. Not to mention 99% of people aren't going to notice a difference in appearance. Nice video!

Now I am a huge fan of older systems like mechanical horns and such, This doesn’t mean that I hate new stuff. Ofc I love system sensor devices, and I think they’re doing a great job of making new products that are more useful, and better at alerting people incase of an emergency. I just see these almost everywhere, so they’re very common. That’s why they’re kinda my least favorite. What I love back in the day, is seeing different types of fire alarm systems, old, mid age, and new. What I’m saying is I like that there are tons of different fire alarm devices made by tons of different companies, how they work, what they look like, and what they sound like. Doesn’t matter if they are electronic horn strobes, mechanical horn strobes, speaker strobes, or bells, as long as they work, and they’re all built for the same purpose, saving people’s lives by alerting them for an emergency. What’s cool is you can come across systems where they just have random combos of pull stations and notification appliances. For example, the Stop & Shop in my town actually used to have a cool FCI system before it was renovated. The system had Gamewell Centuries everywhere, and EST Pre-Integrity’s everywhere on the walls and the ceiling. There’s an IKEA furniture store that I go to all the time in New Haven, CT, system had Gamewell Centuries everywhere, and Gentex Commanded 3’s and 4’s. Basically interesting systems with mixtures of stuff. I don’t mind if you disagree with me. Just telling you that I love all different kinds of fire alarms, and DEFINITELY the new ones being made. I kinda do get a bit upset that the old and cool stuff are getting replaced, but now we’re stepping into the future. System Sensor’s just doing their job. 🤷🏾‍♂️ But as long as we got the old stuff in our fire alarm collections, then we’re chillin.

  • @Photoelectric_Elevators

I think what bothered most people was the strobe being circular despite it being wall mounted which looked out of place to most collectors. Other than that, it’s the same alarm with a few minor changes. Nothing crazy at all. The strobe is just…maybe like experimental? But it’s not too much of a big deal. And I will admit the ceiling mounts look better and more identical to the previous L-Series models than the wall mount models compared. However, when you hear stuff like that from collectors most commonly refers to “I hate the new wall mounts they’re so bad.” And not, “I like both I just think one is slightly better than the other.” Or maybe you like them equally but have a preference. And yes for every kind of collecting thing people love old stuff and rant on the new stuff usually for no reason. I do want to get one of these for my small fire alarm collection as I do have a lot of system sensor stuff and would be nice to add to the lineup.

08:50 I think System Sensor should fix the delay of the LED L-series starting up so that way when you activate a system with these things you'll almost instantly feel them going off and not with a brief second delay as this happens because of the information going to the device to tell it to go off on temporal 3 or temporal 4

  • @HappyJigg

I agree with you on the appearance. In my opinion the first two photos that were released looked like mockups, but now that people actually have these devices they look just as nice as the xenon ones. The l series is one of my favorite looking devices in my opinion.
You see people saying the same stuff every single time a new device comes out, and then they all stop complaining once it actually gets installed in buildings because wow! It looks fine!

  • @nics-systems-electric
    @nics-systems-electric 4 месяца назад +2

The filtered DC subject is bs. Like you said they wouldn't release a product that doesn't work on half their panels and power supplies. Not to mention they listed it as a direct replacement for older devices that were listed for use on filtered DC. I recall a older data sheet did not have a listing for filtered DC but I believe that has been corrected.

I can understand if people don't really like the LED series of the L Series but people you need to realize it is what it is and it still has the same sound as the original system sensor L Series and the Spectralert advance but for me there's only a few things I like how about it is that it still has the same horn and it looks just the same as the original one but I don't know about the strobe light but overall the system sensor L series LED is a good alarm

A thing they brought back with this device besides the wall/ceiling flexibility of the strobe that the original l series crushed by the strobe hood is the off center horn.
I know it looks weird but I did not see a soul talk about it when the Advance had it.

My biggest problem with these was the release. When they first came out, the datasheets did not list them as compatible with FWR, and some genuinely do not work on FWR. On top of that, they still sell the old xenon era horns, which do not have the T3/T4 setting, only T3. Then we have the fact that the special sync module required for these to switch to T4 hasn’t even been explicitly announced yet. We have proof from the backs of these and LinkedIn that they can do it, but there currently is no way to do so.
The devices do look weird, but as long as they work who cares?

@4:55 actually, the general population won't even care or notice, so... function > form (for the most part). There are much bigger and more obnoxious devices out there anyway, and it most likely being in a public / commercial building, people are going to care even less about what they look like. Also, fire alarm equipment manufacturers aren't making their products with the alarm enthusiast in mind, they are making them primarily for commercial building owners to have to meet code requirements. So hence function over form.

I hope you don’t Mind if I make another Question but it is relatable to what You said.
Old Devices are cool, don’t get me wrong, but I recently tried installing My Commander 1 as a part of a System and it was a pain. You have to Put the Mounting Bracket on before you do any wiring, then you have to Wire the Alarm itself and trying to Wire the Commander 1 then trying to get it into place is a pain.
Then When I installed My Advance it was very Easy. It was Simple and wasn’t a struggle.
My point is People are so quick to judge these new devices before they probably even installed one or Bought one. I bet the LED L Series is way more reliable and way easier to install. I bet once these people actually use one of these L Series they will change their Opinion and realize how good it actually is.

-less centered things like candela window and grille
-strobe dosent look as good as the old one did
