I love the depth in her voice now. Yes her range is allittle deeper now than decades ago but its richer too. She gives it her all. And shes rarely off key. I mean shes 70+ here and singing like this! Just amazing!
I agree! The lower register women singers get as they age can either make or break their sound, it certainly works with Ann Wilson. On an interesting note, as a man ages their register goes higher….can you imagine hearing Ann Wilson and Steven Tyler performing together? It would be CRAZY! 💜💜💜
She was born in June of 1950. She was 71 years old when this was recorded. This is a testimony to kick ass. It just doesn't get better than this.

She’s actually got pretty good technique & has a naturally, big, resonant voice. She was never a screamer, sure, a bit of grit here & there but she never abused her voice. This is why she’s still got it at 70+. Imho, the greatest, female, rock singer of all time. I adore Ann & she expresses the lyrics brilliantly too. She’s in a class of her own.

No one can top Steven Tyler, I love Ann's voice and cover. She respects the originals and has never done one injustice. Keep the passion and music alive. I think Dream On is possibly one of the hardest songs to cover, your's is fantastic.
That high note at the end is brutal for anyone trying it. It took me almost a month to hit it without my voice cracking.
Ann proves the amount of balls she has with her choice of covers , smashed Led Zepplins stairway to heaven and this is another iconic song everyone expects the climax to be perfect .
You might want to check out two other versions of this song... Mark Boals does an awesome Live version and the Legendary Ronnie James Dio does a very Powerful version of this!

Stop letting your bias/romanticism for the past distort reality (ftr, I'm middle aged; I'm simply not immature enough to be dismissive of periods of music before or after my formative years, and I listen to that music as well: from classical right up to the latest pop music innovations). And her voice is obviously not nearly what it was. The last truly exceptional performance was her Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors about 10 years ago.

Perhaps you are lost somewhere back in time ("immature" dare I say) expecting the same 1970's voice versus appreciating how well this artist has been able to continue and to deliver! And yes, I do agree there are many talents these days too (though I also have to note the gimmicky glitzy over-the-top often repetitive sounds really do keep one from truly hearing the "voice" and is often off-putting). I will also note that this is an industry now that caters to this rather rigid idea of talent and leaves us unable to hear so many other incredible voices.

Had the pleasure of meeting Ann & Nancy Wilson in 1978. It was after the concert and my friends and I had a hunch where the band was staying. We waited in the lobby and the entire band appeared! The only thing I could say was “Thank you for a great concert!” Ann said thank you and they moved on. HEART is the best!

Her song LA song made the top 10 on Billboards and her albums sold well as well. But with her label getting tired of her addiction and mental health issues she was dropped shortly after in the early 2000s. She has made a comeback and is an independent artist and still does well enough to make a living off of her music and tours worldwide.
