Great review, I just ordered the closed back version based on reviews like this as I’ve heard similar things about the closed back. The only difference that I could tell was about hearing the environment which I wouldn’t like.
question: did u use HyperX Cloud 2 made by Kingston..I want to choose a new headset because i switch to Cloud2 mabe by HP and i was very dissapointed. I wanted to know if Audio Tehnica has the sound clear as the old Cloud 2 ?
Did you try to connect to other devices, like your phone, or use your external mic like Blue Yeti to see if it makes a difference, cause mine sound very bad directly on the PC but good anywhere else.
@@StreamGearTalk I have teamed it up with a SoundBlaster GC7 and it is amazing... It is a bit of a learning curve getting the GC7 set up how i like it but it is totally worth it
Curious about these, how much outside sound leaks in? im not super concerned with how much leaks out, but i often run a box fan and or window fan in my room, wondering how present they will be with the headset on...
I have their AD700 open back over air and love them for gaming such a perfect sound stage. Love to hear you compare the 2 as the AD700 have a bigger driver. I might get these as AD700 was my go to for movies but might check this out for gaming.

Not gonna lie the microphone doesn’t sound “Amazing” sounds slightly muffled. I think the commander mic on the creative headsets sound significantly clearer with less processing on them. One thing I will give this mic is that it doesn’t seem to get sibilant

Noticeable upgrade in comfort and sound quality compared to the cloud 2’s? I just recently purchased the alphas and while the sound quality/stage was a little bit better, the comfort just wasn’t there and they were hurting my head just after an hour. I haven’t been able to use another headset besides the cloud 2’s just based on the comfort alone.
I’m sorry to hear that. My reviews are just my take on things not meant to be a “one size fits all”. I won’t disagree, the cloud 2’s are super comfortable.

Everyone’s experience can be different. That being said, I still use these and only these. Sound is amazing and I’ve testers them straight to my motherboard, my ps5 controller for ps5, and now only use via goxlr mini for both console and pc audio. I never had to break them in, they were perfect (for me) from the first time using them til now.
Got a question I got a pair of the gdl3 and my older brother let me have his Astro mixamp 2017 model would this combo be good or should I just plug them into my pc straight
I now tested the ATH GDL3 and the Astro A40TR. What I noticed at the ATH GDL3 is that for CSGO competitive gaming they are to bassy. The bass destroys the mids and highs. Too bassy headphones are not good for localization of enemy footsteps. That is why the Astro A40TR are clearly better for pro gaming. They are very neutral up setted. You can easily locate footsteps. However, I believe that the ATH's are very good for Movies or Music. It's not without reasons that the best pro gamer's use pure gaming headphones.

@@millenwagon from my experience yes. From multiplayer shooters (pubg, mw2, valorant) to single player games (GOW Ragnarok, elden ring, RE2) soundstage has been quite solid.

I have this headset but the black version and I love it, even just listening to music it sounds great.

Now the GDL3’s in my opinion are far more comfortable than the cloud 2’s. They weigh less and the ear cups just fit better. In my opinion

Have you games with any high end headphones such as akg k712, dt 1990 pro, sennheiser hd 660s and 560s? Do these come close to any of those?
I have not. I think it’s time I get my hands on a pair of high end headphones
