I used a speedbooster with the 24-105mm f4 which makes it a 27-120mm f2.8. Also use the Sigma 16mm 1.4 perfect combo.
Same here. I've enjoyed that lens for many years on 5D and 1D bodies, but now it's got a new life on the M50II, as well as my 70-200/4 IS L and 17-40/4 L, all of which enjoy brighter f2.8 max apertures and very similar full-frame equiv field of views on the M bodies. I love the size/weight benefits of native M mount lenses, but there are simply no bright zooms. (For nearly the same size and weight, I'll take the 24-105 L with the booster over the 17-55/2.8 adapted EFS lens for the much longer reach.) I wish I still had my old EF 28/1.8 which, with the booster, would provide a VERY useful 30/1.2 equivalent.
@@Captain-Cosmo I did have the 28mm 1.8 but never liked it. Maybe I had a bad copy but the pics were never sharp.
How are the barrel distortions with this combo as the 24-105 has some, even when set up properly on my 5D mk 3 DSLR? Does the booster give more distortion and a softer image too?

Great review of lenses! Thought long and hard if I should buy the Sigma 30 or Canon 32mm. Chose the last one, mainly for photography and it's a blast. Amazingly sharp, even wide open. Thinking about buying the Sigma 56mm though... What do you think of that one?

@@telugucarreview anytime brother, thanks for watching. I'm still waiting on more wide angle options, especially prime. The crop factor at x1.6 makes it hard to use these lenses for real estate or any interior shots and I really would prefer not to speed boost a full frame lens.

I've got the Canon M50 with the 15-45 kit lens. I was hoping you or anyone else in the comments could give me some advice on which lense to purchase next. I've watched a few of your videos and just can't decide.
Choices are ef-m 32mm, 22mm or the ef 50mm with adapter.
Mainly going to be for pet portrait photography, potentially low light situations.
The 32 will blow you away with photo IQ. I wouldn't do the 22 for portraits as the available DOF doesn't go thin enough. If you're not blowing up pics you can get away with the 50 but even before that I would recommend the sigma 30 or maybe even the new Viltrox ef-m lens option I'm testing soon.

I have the speedbooster and use native EF glass. Is this still my best option? Been going back and forth on what i want to use for an upcoming wedding. Generally i use the 24-105 and my 50mm. Great video!
your camera body is the m50? for photos the Canon efm 32mm is amazing and will blow the nifty fifty boosted out of the water. I did a head to head on that. sigma trio is solid especially if you're also doing video. I haven't been impressed with efm zooms yet
@@DriveByReviews Correct. Using an M50. I like the flexibility of using EF glass with the speedbooster but feel there HAS to be a disadvantage by adding a layer off glass. Thanks for the feedback!

This list is relevant to the m200 as is! I have both cameras (was going to do a comparison video at some point) the M200 is more for beginners but the lenses will perform the same on either camera.

if you don't have good lighting will that contribute to blurry videos? I bought the canon m50... decent lighting (ring light/2 soft box) and my camera can't focus. Do you know why?
Which focus system are you using? I recommend trying out servo it works really well. Also be very careful with shutter speed since it can blurry your shots. For handheld shooting i recommend at least 1/60 shutter. Good luck.

Any opinion on the viltrox 23mm 1.4 STM. The motor is STM so is sooo quiet. I notice a lot of reviewers don't review viltrox.I value your opinion. What's wrong with very fast zoom lenses. It seems that is the best lens to have because it has it all. Maybe a fast ef zoom with the viltrox speed booster. What's the negative? I want a lens with no negatives that does everything. There must be one. I am just starting to get into "real" photography and video. I bought an m50, thé canon ef-m 22mm lens for low light.
I want one more lens for now and would like it to be versatile, as in low light and vlogging and anything else. What would you recommend? Is an ef with the speed booster a good way to go? What's the advantage of using an ef-m lens besides nit needing an adapter. It seems so complicated.

Sigma 32? No. You want the Canon 32 instead. Outstanding lens.
Great lens. This list was for video however. I did a comparison and the Canon 32 af speed is much slower in comparison. As for photos the Canon 32 was superior to sigma

wait, for a portrait session with a mini witch? canon 32 or sigma 56 would be best in for portraits. Sigma 16mm is great for vlog and photos that require wider angle. and dang you watching the whole vid helps the algo, guess I should of done it shirtless doing curls. next time

I was tossing up between the sigma 30 and the canon 32mm. but you've sold me on the sigma. would you say if I'm looking for photography more that the sigma 30 mm would be a good option? I currently have the kit lens and the 22mm for my canon m50 but find the 22mm a little tricky in low light when taking inside house photos.

For photos definitely the 32mm, it's extremely high quality. Only deficit is its video AF speed and near minimum focus range accuracy with video AF

Thank you, Brother. This was/is an excellent review. I'm considering going mirrorless via Canon or Sony. The small lens selection of the EF-M mounts concerns me, but then I could adapt my EF lenses to the M50 or a Sony. Ques: If I use an adapter to mount my EF lenses to the M50, would lenses w/ image stabilization (IS) still function or would I lose IS? God bless. Be well.
generally yes all canon EF lenses will fully function adapted to the efm mount. Except some Tamron lenses are known to not work so great when adapted.

I'd have to compare them side by side to see for sure but I would wager the native 11-22 would work best with the m50 overall and is sharper.

I highly recommend both. I use the 16mm for video all the time, but the 11-22 in well lit situations is amazing with the IS.
