Columbus and his men ignored the King and Queen’s order that he “abstain from doing … (the inhabitants) any injury.” He forced countless natives, any over the age of 14, to provide him with either gold or cotton or they would be killed and punished on the spot. He would order men to be burned at the stake and would order children to be hacked into pieces. Any native who complied but failed to meet the quota of what was demanded of them had their hands cut off and placed as a necklace around their necks. He was a tyrant for the many of the spanish settlers he ruled over. He would mercilessly torture anyone who spoke out against his leadership and ordered excessively severe punishments for any offenses.

    In my view, the commentary regarding Walt Disney was more than disappointing.
    As a child I met Mr. Disney by happenstance back in the 1960s, at Disneyland, two days after the first fatal incident at the park. This is where a man fell to his death from the Matterhorn bobsled ride, after he unfastened his seatbelt and stood up. He fell to his death. I will never forget walking by the Matterhorn with my father one early weekend morning, as there were very few guests in the park. Walt Disney stood alone, wearing coat and tie, where the poor man met his end, and he was in terrible distress.
    My dad, a doctor, consoled Mr. Disney on nearby bench for at least an hour, as he was overwhelmed with grief and dismay over the incident. I sat next to Walt, and it was immediately apparent that he was a truly decent man who loved people. After a while, we returned home to LA, not far from Mr. Disney’s house. They kept in contact over the phone for some time. Walt died not long after.
    In summary, Walt Disney, despite his flaws, was a product of his time, and his attitudes were prevalent in the overall culture to a large extent back then. The same was true of John Wayne. People today, cannot relate well to those times because they didn’t experience it like we did back then. The final lesson was they despite our station and accomplishments in life we are all highly imperfect people. Accept that and move on. These times, institutions and people are even more imperfect. It is easy to point to a man’s faults after they have passed on, and in this connection some illustrations are truly unfair.

      Abraham Lincoln is viewed as one of our greatest Presidents yet he held the firm belief that those of Northern European descent were superior to everyone else in the world in every way. That isn't taught in any schools though. We don't judge him based off of those beliefs even though we know that they were wrong; so why should we judge anyone else for beliefs or acts that we now view as repugnant? It is currently acceptable for us to call ourselves anything we want to on the internet, if in 100 years that isn't the case and someone finds that you call yourself Degenerate Whore in 2017 should everyone who never knew you personally think of you as a piece of garbage based solely off of that 2117? That is what I am saying, when judging someone from the past on what kind of person they were you must take into account all of their beliefs in association with the commonly held beliefs of the time. As to your statement about child rape and sex slaves in ancient times, I'm not in anyway condoning anyone of still having the same beliefs or doing the same acts that were done by anyone in the past, and both are still accepted in some parts of the world as no big deal. Unfortunately, hopefully that will change for the betterment of all.

    Most of these people were actually worse than detailed. I was especially surprised at the weak Disney segment, fully expecting discussion of his strong support of the U.S. blacklist and coaxing and sometimes threatening his employees that they must rat out any fellow employees who might be, or have any association with, communists.
    Re Gandhi, much is made of him sleeping with kids, but this is actually an old yogic practice involving refreshing an older person's energy with the presence and energy of younger ones. If you're old, hang around young people, or walk into a room with them, or see how you feel when one walks into a room you're in. That's the theory, anyway. In short, it wasn't a sexual thing. The real accusation would be whether such a thing is vampiric ... but that one's hard to support too.

    • @nealcomstock1958
      @nealcomstock1958 5 лет назад

      Walt Disney's actions to uncover communists in the entertainment industry was a very noble effort. The Hollywood Ten and any other communists that were blacklisted weren't just part of a different political party, but were making and releasing communist propaganda films that border on indoctrination. Such projects and even their strikes were directly funded by the U.S.S.R. as a way to disrupt American communications, and as such I feel as though they got what was coming to them. Don't get me wrong here, sure Walt was an asshole towards his employees and did abuse his power of influence in the production of films and other programs. (like when he made the actress that played Snow White sign a contract that only allowed her to do voice work for Disney. Meaning she couldn't get hired again) However I'm just defending his more patriotic activities. But I am glad to see this things brought up. Good on you for knowing these types of things unknown by the general public.

If you value rat-finks, what can I say, but an employer trying to tell people to betray their family and friends is the same thing Hitler was doing not many years earlier. Even people who had gone to a single political meeting or cocktail party with lefties were publicized, fired, and denounced.
