Edit: Most of these have been updated since this video (finally!). Let me know if you all find any more inconsistent text on abilities! Which Path of Titans videos would you all like to see next? ⬇⬇⬇ I'm cookin up some ideas!
Would love to see more videos along this vein! The devs aren’t super clear and having someone to sift through what’s said in the patch notes and what’s actually reflected in game would be awesome! Great video! 😊
Finally a content creator not blowing pure smoke up the devs backsides , everything they have done since the pounce update has made zero sense and just feels like a lazy response to people crying. I honestly don't know what the devs are even doing with the direction of this game anymore and it looks like they don't either
I’m with you, it’s sad to see. Feel like they’re making changes at random. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think things like glowing red eyes and puffing smoke when abilities are activated is going to ruin the game. They could just as easily make a good sound queue for an ability being activated so our Dino game doesn’t become Overwatch 2 lol. Thanks for watching
I said stuff about bad devs and got loads of hate lost 100s of subs 1000s of viewers just for speaking the truth and eventually it made me quit for 2 months. Adding radius attacks instead of fixing lag was very dumb, now we got the most goofy attacks we could ever imagine. Its used more too kill small dinos fighting eachother than actually fighting a player yourself, meaning its being used for exploiting more than defending against attacks and it looks crap.
very good vid honestly, concise and to the point, and honestly I hope it blows up because this whole ability description thing needs to be more widely known. Another really important one that you missed would be traction, the description states "20% turn for -30% stamina recovery" whereas the actual ability only gives 10% turn (but of the downside is accurate for some reason) which is a WAY WORSE tradeoff than the description states. Still worth using but it definitely made me reconsider when I found out.
Thanks for the kind words! Traction was actually on my original list because I had remembered seeing that change somewhere, but when I searched for it in the patch notes, I couldn't find it! Traction already has a huge trade off, but with only a 10% turn speed buff it's even worse! Thanks for the info
I hate the speed and turning bullshit. Everything was fine before because 10% was worth having because the turn tail reduced turning loss from 25 to 15. But now speed hide isn't worth it at all because 5% barely changes anything. ;-;
100% with you. Faster turning Dinos just made the game more fun! Now everything feels like turning a semi truck around. Things like balanced tail going from a supposed 15% to 5% is crazy, not really worth running in most cases anymore
big agree, and it hurt a bunch of dinos in the process, esp full turn build alio. alio needed a nerf to tyrants roar so it wasn't so oppressive in groups, but instead it got its combat weight reduced by 1/3rd and its turning obliterated
@@cyanidesurprise2474 Yeah they really hit alio hard when all it needed was what you said. Sometimes it feels as if they make changes almost at random!
@Khanware 100% agree. But what really pisses me off is when they make changes that aren't needed. Like changing the stam for Meg and reducing iggy combat weight. (Also, all my precious Allo needs is that bullshit stamina drain from claws removed. A slight speed, stamina, and stamina regen buff, and then it'd be golden.)
@@nightmarepokemon1143 I was so sad when sucho got buffed and completely overtook allo’s role. It’s got higher dps, better stamina regen by miles, very similar movement speed, and obviously can also swim. Allo just sits there needing some tlc to regain its purpose. I still love my allo but it’s sad!
As much as i love the game,i agree they should cut the adding/changing abilities and NOT changing ingame descriptions, like thats so crappy...i know they also been doing some stuff good, like the TLCs and some balance stuff, new rain look and all but...they got a long way to go for sure.Gd video overall man❤
A small note I want to make on Lone Survivor. Before the hotfix you are going over in the video, Lone survivor had three functions: 1. +10% armor 2. +5% turning speed 3. +100% acceleration Only the extra turning speed was removed in the hotfix, meaning it still gives you increased acceleration. It's very noticeable on alioramus, sprinting feels much more responsive.
Great video BTW, glad you are bringing attention to all the changes they made without even updating the descriptions, it really caught me off guard when they first nerfed balanced tail because I was looking at stats in single player and noticed it only gave 10%!
Awesome video thanks for this. I also wonder about “piercing bite” or abilities to pierce armor. Dasp has a piercing bite that apparently does more damage than it claims, not sure? Does Achillobators cruel swipe still do the same damage after the cool down nerf ? It’s almost how the meta in COD always changes. Hard to stick with one Dino with all the constant changes.
This is actually one of the categories on my list! There are many abilities that have vague descriptions or function differently from what's described. Piercing bite is one of them, it says low damage but actually does very high damage! I'll bump this video idea towards the top of my idea list. Thanks for watching!
dasps pierce does 150 to everything. but you can stack tyrants and the dmg buff for being near a body so it deals like 50% extra dmg and can basically 3 shot anything
The group buffs really make no sense, you're already in a group. They need to have solo buffs for us solo players who just can't seem to catch a break. Making the babies faster would help tremendously.
One would hope that would be the case! Unfortunately with PoT, the abilities get updated, changes get posted in the patch notes, and then they don't end up getting updated descriptions in game for a while
The Speed hide change is a huge blow to a Dino you might not expect, from the Modding community. Absentia Acrocanthosaurus utilizes it's own set of abilities, but it's base stats are balanced around the official dinosaurs. Acro was notably running down Allo and Dasp, which it shouldn't have been able to, but if the 2 were operating off of incorrect Stats/information, Acro might still need changes. While Acro is my favorite, It might still need a nerf here and there.
More videos like this are already in production! Right now I only play official, so I'm unfortunately not well equipped to cover modded dinos at the moment, but maybe at some point in the future
Tricky question. I'd say it changes dino to dino. I still use it on dinos where there isn't much else helpful in tail slot, or on dinos like kentro where I want every ounce of turning I can get after the radius nerfs
It looks like they're all(?) fixed in the PTB. I think one thing that people have to keep in mind before they start trashing developers is that there's ALOT going on in the background that we don't know about so its very possible that it's not willy nilly changes but things that have been thought out in order to balance future things in the game. Not saying you were trashing but I'm seeing some pretty harsh opinions from others in the comments. Coming from someone that's is a developer, developing a game isn't easy at all, and trying to appease everyone is absolutely impossible. At least now they're pumping out more fixes and they're moving to a new unreal engine, so that could also be holding up some fixes since coding can change big time between engines. We just have to be patient to see what they have in mind. I'm just glad that they're willing to at least listen to the community unlike some other dinosaur games that won't be named.
I fully agree that developing a game is hard and complex (having dabbled myself), BUT I (like many other people) are done making excuses for these devs. I don’t mean to bash, but they put abilities in the game fresh off the press with wrong descriptions. Take Hatz, for example. The only peck that hatz has that says “can only be used while grounded” is the ONLY peck it can currently use while flying. None of the other ones specify that, but all the other ones can only be used while grounded. Completely backwards! Some of ramph’s abilities had similar issues when added as well, although thankfully they’ve already updated the descriptions. Again, I get if something went wrong and you need a week to update the descriptions, but it’s been over 2 months now for something that should’ve been top priority.
@@Khanware I remember this one little bush in the game I was working with. No matter what I did to get rid of it, nothing good came out of it. The LODs of the trees around it went crazy, the nearby lake at one point just completely disappeared from the map. It took more people working on that, trying to figure it out, which drew our attention away from what should've been top priority; which was changing the hair color of our canon character because somehow the HEX code got flipped. A two second fix some would think., but even THAT took some time because of other steps that had to be accomplished before we could do that. Not trying to make excuses, or defend them, just bringing some understanding that sometimes things don't go as planned and sometimes you can ignore the potholes to put out the fires. PTB alone tells me they're correcting their mistakes with all the updates to the descriptions and even in their dev notes where they're explaining why they're doing changes instead of telling us to deal with it. It's kinda refreshing, so I'm going to ride that while I'm in desperate need of a silly dinosaur game I can play with my friends.
I have a question, if youre fighting someone and lets say I have drenched blows as my sense on my spino, do I have 20% damage boost and deal more damage UNDERWATER?? Im kinda confused bc when you come out of the water you have that wet effect on you but does it count underwater too? I need an explanation..
You *should*. I really hope dinos underwater are considered wet. It’s never a guarantee for PoT though so I’d have to test it to be 100%. But it should apply the 20% damage buff underwater too
Yes it does, good catch! I unfortunately realized I may have missed hatz after uploading the video. Interestingly, I don't think it showed in the patch notes as changing for hatz, but it must have
It does, hatz does too. Strangely, I don't know if it was nerfed for the two of them because they didn't say in the patch notes! I can confirm pycno's was (which is why I included it)
