- I've gotten a chance to test out the Canon M100 for vlogging over the past month and so I thought I would share a video review. Turns out it's a really good cheap budget vlog camera with a flip screen. If you're looking for good value, the Canon M100 is a great budget option with a flip screen!

Great review! Been eyeing this camera. Will definitely be on my list. You just gained a new sub here!
Thank you! Glad to help! 🙏
Awesome video!! I will def be coming back to your channel when shopping for a new camera 😁😁
Thanks you! Appreciate your support Kaila! 🙏😊
Looking for a budget friendly camera for vlogging and came across to your channel. Very informative! ❤️ thank you so much!
I'm glad the video helped :)
Oooh thanks for the thorough review. This is very helpful for someone who dont really understand photography.
Aww, Yayyy! I'm glad it helped! :)
Love your channel! Big supporter!
Thank you! I really appreciate the support! 🙏
Haircut on point!
Thanks Elli! 🤗
That peak design clip is so clutch. I love how it has the interchangable lens feature. That so clutch for creators.
It definitely comes in handy, when you just don’t have an extra hand! 🖐 do you have one too? Is it on your bag as well?
@@KyleCWong No I don't but I do carry around a bag a lot so having something like that would be something I need. Now I'm looking to do more on the go content so a vlogging camera is something I'm looking into.
@@feastfriday They released a V3 version of the capture clip, I haven't tried it personally, but it looks pretty slick!
Hey Kyle, Great video! I was looking to get a camera to start making vlogs since I feel like the iPhone quality is not very good in comparison and want to start off with high quality videos! I know a lot of people use the canon G7X, however it is a little bit expensive. Unsure if its worth getting this one to start then upgrading later if I manage to stick with it or if getting the G7X right away will save future costs? Would love your advice and thanks in advance!
Hi Natasha, thank you! I think now they have a couple other models now. I found that there's a lot of people that get the G7x thinking that they'd use the camera more and end up selling it second hand - that might be an option for you. I think if you want to make videos, I'd just start filming on whatever you have now and see how you feel about editing and making videos. That's how I started (with a family point and shoot camera), and eventually I became more invested in making videos before investing in a 'real camera'. Hope this helps!
I like your camera presence great video.
Thanks Akkera! I appreciate your support :)
Link for camera? Great review btw!
I grabbed the M100 simply for the price point and features. I dropped a video aswell just taking it through some daily use. If this had 120fps in 1080 I would be 100% happy. I dont care too much about 4k right now.
Anyways, great video, glad to see others using it. (BTW ill sub to your page, keep it up!)
It definitely has a great value. Yeah, not too keen on 4K yet as well until I upgrade my computer haha. Thanks for watching Tay!
@@KyleCWong yeah thats also my same issue. My computer can't handle editing with 4k easily yet. So 1080 it is!
Awesome video Kyle. But I need your opinion on something, I was looking at buying the canon EOS m100 but then I thought what if I saved longer and got the m50 instead because with the m100 having no mic jack and lower quality I would end up replacing it faster but the m50 having a mic jack and all the features I could possibly need I will be using it for a very long time and I won’t need to replace it... What do you think about this? Also what lav mic do you use?
Thanks! If you really need the mic jack, I'd probably save for the M50 for sure! I use the Edutige ETM-001, but there are plenty of good options out there that might be better value!
How do you pause the video
i am curious what camera you used to film yourself in your home... with the windows in the background... that is very nice video.
Thank you! I use the Canon EOS R to film at home, used to use it with the sigma 35mm f1.4, but have since sold that lens. Maybe I'll be shooting future videos on my 50mm 1.8 RF...
Hmm I can’t decide between this and the m50. A mic jack would be good for future and improving audio quality, but getting the m100 on eBay could save me about 100-200 dollars. Plus I’m more of a fan for flip up screens instead of flip out.. I just don’t wanna get stuck with a “bad” choice and regret it
Hi Haja, thanks for the comment! I think it depends on what you intend to use it for? Syncing audio in post isn't difficult, just an extra step. But if you're shooting VLOGs with multiple clips, you probably won't want to be syncing the audio to each one. If it's just one sit down video clip, then the m100 could be the way to go. Definitely more flexibility with the m50 though.
What's the best settings for vlogs? I heard image stabilization isn't as good as higher priced cameras. What are the tricks for gimbals and steady hand?
I wouldn't say that there's a specific set of 'best settings' to use. It really depends on what you want to get out of the footage. Generally higher frame rates like 30 and 60fps will give you a more 'in the moment feeling' while 24fps is standard for more 'cinematic' shots.
There aren't really too many tricks for a steady shot. One would be to use a neckstrap and use the tension between your camera and neck to stabilize the camera. Other then that it's really just practicing holding your camera steady. Best of luck!
Thanks for the recommendation this will be on my list! I definitely subscribed 🤓
Hope to be YT buddies and continue to
Put out great content! Ciao
Cedric Zebaze No problem! Glad it helped! 🤗 thanks for stopping by!
Kyle Wong anytime!
What u using for microphone your sounds was clear wowww
Hi, thanks for watching! I'm just using the edutige ETM-001 lavelier mic plugged directly into my EOS R :)
New sub
Thank you! I appreciate the support :)
Anyone know if when u connect this to your phone on the app it gets videos on the phone too?
I know you can do short clips sent over wifi, but if its a bit longer like a few minutes it'll take longer to send over.
This would have been the camera if I didn't choose the fujifilm.
It was a tough battle in my mind ahah
Now that I got M50 I think I won't invest for a long time till I get something like full frame
My main camera for photos will be the fujifilm and vloging M50
The M50 is a great camera! If I didn’t have my EOS R I’d probably stick with the M50. But the M100 works super well as a small bring around camera, especially for travelling 🧳🤗
@@KyleCWong if you say that M50 I'd more capable then I think .
I tried the Eos R few days ago at a local store I was like ❤️❤️❤️😍🤩😍🤩
@@ERJOL Definitely feels nicer in the hand, but if I wasn't using the camera for work, I'd probably switch back to a crop sensor for the sake of size and convenience.
Canon do some quality in their line!
LifewithJack this camera might be considered on the lower end of their lineup, but has a lot of features that get beginners started 🤗
