Actually, Wungus helps for staying in corrupt to deal damage anyways, in melee ramge while using M1 you wont be sprinting, and if you are sprinting to do something youre running away, getting to control state faster is important in that situation anyways, so Wungus on Void Fiend S++ tier item.
One thing I noticed, is that changing form will entirely arrest your momentum. If you are jumping, taking a jump pad, or using momentum from his dash in either form, becoming corrupted will instantly stop you.
in the update patch today, hopoo changed his corrupt m1 to scale the number of hits per second with attack speed so thats poggie woggie also, the corrupted suppress cant crit or crowbar yourself anymore
Maybe I'm the crazy odd one out, but I find aggressive playstyles a lot more fun in this game, so I tend to try and go for a lot of Corrupted form up time, and Void Fiend has become my fav character because of it. For me, the normal form is just the utility form with it's vertical mobility and range for picking off a few things in the distance while trying to farm up gold. And now, I must speak the ultimate heresy: Transcendence is actually really good for corrupted focused void fiend runs, because you want to avoid healing entirely, but you don't want health whittled down. Sure, it may not have the immediate panic heals of the normal RoR2 meta, but between the armor and the high damage output, there's a lot of room to space yourself out to refill those shields.
To add to your point, transcendence with the plasma shrimp is absolutely busted. And when you factor in void fiend's corrupted M1.... you get a cyclops laser that constantly has plasma missiles firing off of it and its delightful mayhem. I'm with you too, he's quickly become one of my top three favorite survivors (alongside rex and merc).
3:33 If you get Ben's Raincoat and self debuff with slow there's a bug that it will cause you to remain slowed even when not firing. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else and I'm too lazy to go to the forums to tell Hoppo
Also worth noting is you can charge Flood during Trespass as long as you start the charge before you Trespass. Then it's pretty much done by the time you're out of it, and then you can, I dunno, shoot it down at all the dudes below you, get that AoE.
Does anyone else think that instead of void fiend getting an alternate primary,secondary etc it should get an alternate passive which gives it new forms based on different game environments like lunar

I found staying in corrupted form in late run is more desirable because how easy it is to heal up without your special and damage you dished out is absurd but early and mid run? Yeah, base form is still superior because healing.
Personally enjoy the Lean Fiend entirely because he has two different playstyle options you can take depending on how your run is going. I've also personally found that I like to min-max my build towards one form or the other. I think if you go towards a Corruption build it's always worth it to fully invest into the 100% perma Corruption since at that point you can ignore having to working with requiring crits and avoiding healing to keep your Corrupted state. Otherwise, go for the 13 void minimum and stack some attack speed for the insane self sustainability in your Pure state.
I honestly have about 100 hours in void fiend and didn’t not need this video at all. But shiiiiiiiii I’ve watched the video twice now because his tutorial voice is just MMMH
you can also use his secondary ability as a sort of mini hoopoo feather by aiming at the ground can be very useful in combination with trespass for moving around the maps (especially frickin sundered grove)
also, in the corrupted form, you can use Trespass and then shoot your Flood behind you to add on to the momentum. Works best with at least some movement speed increases since corrupt Trespass goes much faster with even a couple mochas
Something that I find incredibly important that a lot of people don't seem to notice about Void Fiend is that his corrupted form decays over the same amount of time, no matter his minimum corruption, because the rate at which his corruption goes down will slow down with each additional void item. This means that the more void items you have, the more duration his corrupted suppress adds (since it will always give 25%, but that 25% will last longer with each additional void item). It also, through the same way, multiplies the effect of anything that increases/decreases his corruption by a flat amount. Also if anyone has an easier way to explain this that would be great. I've explained this quite a few times between friends and I always feel like my explanation is too wordy
I'd say that if you're trying to stay in your Corrupt form for as long as you can, the best "healing" item is Topaz Brooch/Aegis since Barrier will be consumed by Suppress before shields/HP, always. And If you've managed to get blessed and cap your crits, even a single Scythe becomes borderline detrimental to keeping up Corruption the moment you take your first (and, of course, consecutive) Plasma Shrimp, at least in my opinion. If you're good enough, casting Suppress into Safer Spaces is also a fantastic piece of tech. Right now, I just wish that casting Suppress would stop Corruption meter dead in its track for casting's duration so that those 25% gains would actually be 25%, at least early on before you get your syringes/mochas going. For me, VF is quicky becoming the best and most enjoyable character to go for multi-loop runs (also searching for void cradles is pain) as you only get stronger in any form as time goes by. P.S. Oh, and Mired Urn is either a must if you're playing base-form only or the absolute worst item to get if you're playing hybrid/Corrupt.
Something cool about the Void Fiend is that picking up Heresy items only changes the ability for the current form that he's in. Might be something cool you can do with that.

I don't know if this is common knowledge yet or not but you can sort of rocket jump with the fully charged m2, not so much rocket jumping because its moreso about the knockback you take from firing it rather than the explosion but the way you aim your movement is the same. It's an incredible way to move faster in early game since tresspass goes at a upward angle and doesn't have much forward movement. Another thing I found is if you spam the everliving crap out of r while suppressing to below 25% corruption you can suppress again despite not being at 25% yet
What i see a lot of ppl doesn't take on Void Fiend, is stacking Backup Magazines for bonus M2 stacks. Why its actually good? Well cuz ur corrupted form resets all ur skills, meaning every time u change, u instantly gain the N amount of M2 shoots. There also more to it. If u didn't notice, ur M2 lets u use rocket jump in base form while corrupted can do that too, but u ain't getting as high as in normal form. With Backup Stacks u can basically Fly in corrupted form by just spaming those (but u need to spam these after the jump so u don't lose momentum from falling down). So if u are fan of mindlessly flying around and like corrupted version, i recommend to stack at least 5 of Magazines. Also some pro tip: If u falling down and have shift in CD, charge it before the fall and shoot it where u land so u don't get the fall dmg. U can also do some little tricks with at least 1 Backup Magazine like: Do rocket jump with M2 > Start charing second one > Press Shift (yes it keeps charged in shift) > and use it before landing to ignore fall dmg. Really helps early game and its also lets u being more agile than what he usually is. Dats what i got so far by playing this character.
Having 50 void items he will stay in corrupted form for the rest of the run which is really good but having huge amount of number of Void items but not 50 is annoying I can assure you
I want to note that your right click pushes you back quite a bit, so this character can sort of blast jump with higher attack speed and back up mag and it's a ton of fun
so i kinda broke the Void Fiend right after obtaining him. I got about 30 Void items (mix of the insta kill glasses, safer spaces, and neede ticks) and the mired jar boss drop, and then rolled into a wungus. With his base corruption up enough and his controlled healing massively increased, you can actually finely control when you enter corruption. In my run, since he healed while taking damage and sprinting, if i stood still he almost immediately went corrupted, which was great for boss fights and mythrix
That actually is good on him, because most void items take away the % of chance items, just look at shrimp (void atg) that works when you have a shield!
Having the Occular HUD item boost your crits to 100%; thus you can stay in corrupted form as long as you hit something. You can add Predatory Instincs to boost your attack speed and having a leech seed allow you to : crit, stay in corrupted form, AND HEAL, while doing massive ammounts of damage.
Had a god run with 3 nkuhanas, 5 racks (thanks to 7 stacks of regen scrap), 20+ infusions, stone flux pauldron and 30 wungus where I spammed the heal and sprinted around nuking everything with many, many thousands of heals every second. Still died at void locus to a black hole and bottled chaos, gesture rolling volcanic egg when I was getting 1 fps. Very fun build that was almost invincible.
you can actually still heal 50% hp for less than 50% corruption with base form special from the very beginning of a run, but you can only do it between 25% and 49% corruption. if you spam the ability twice when you have at least 25% corruption you get to cast it twice, with the second use taking any extra corruption but not costing the full 25% very nice when you come out of corrupted form and need some healing. stall until 25% and then spam the button.
I feel like the corrupted form of void fiend is just a massive contradiction of itself. You need to take damage to stay in corrupted form, but you can't heal or you get kicked out of corrupted form. You can't heal but you also have to stay in close range to use your primary and your special is just a suicide button. It's like they're penalizing you for doing too much damage in the non corrupted form (which is honestly pretty good overall) by sending you to corrupted mode
I think Strides and Essence of Heresy are both pretty valid on a void fiend run, essence mostly only on corrupt form runs when you're already min corruption 100%
Well… wanna be Acrid but Commando? Purity and Lightflux. You turn your m2 into your M1 by spamming it and you have perma shift in both forms. Pretty sick, if you ask me.
For me I usually have more of a 2 halves run 1st half, play mostly ranged base form get void items and abuse suppress 2nd half: (once enough void items are obtained) go sick mode, beam everything proc it all to hell and if something's in the way blow it the fuck up. Oh and get damage resistances and items that heal if you want tbh

*items you want to avoid* void cells despite having more corrupted r charges you are better of using crits to keep it going and void fiend doesnt have cooldown on r *direct healing items* as you might have guessed these keep you in your low damage state longer when you dont want to regen is the way to go with void fiend
I haven't unlocked void fiend yet because im determined to unlock him through Voidling but I also suck at the game. However, the idea of having two different potential build paths, to either go lots of healing normal form or max damage corrupted form depending on what you feel like, seems really cool to me. Some dumb "tech" I found With 3 gesture of the drown and tonic, you can abuse the tonic afflictions as you can remain in trespass during the tonic down time, and depending on how many afflictions you have, you can "heal" back to full as you hp durring down time will likely be full, and tonic buff scales hp based on percentage
Regarding the patch that came out today the part about crowbars and delicate watches affecting the void fiend have been changed. No longer does additional damage
okay okay, i like this but also, could you add an image of the items you recommand, started playing not too long ago and i am not too familiar with them yet
both of the new survivors are great, but I suppose it says something that I have thus far only bothered to get the mastery skin for the void fiend. I love them both so much though
I want to point out in my playthroughs with him u got one bit abt void fiend kinda wrong, although pretty sure it was just a mix up. Void fiend in normal form is meant to tank dmg and act as a tank, with his basic attacks doing piss dmg even with their range, and his secondary having a lot longer charge up time. While in corrupted form you stay in the fight at close range, but must avoid getting hit as you have no way of healing yourself and can die very VERY easily if you aren't paying attention.
I haven't had the chance to play yet cuz of the army, but so if u have let's say 48 void items, do u just constantly switch between the corrupted and normal forms every second?

If you get the dunestrider boss item be prepared basically never be in your corrupted form for more than a couple seconds due to its healing

I found that 3 purity’s can make his trespass cool down to one second and gives him a lot of mobility

*items you want to avoid* void cells despite having more corrupted r charges you are better of using crits to keep it going and void fiend doesnt have cooldown on r *direct healing items* as you might have guessed these keep you in your low damage state longer when you dont want to regen is the way to go with void fiend
I haven't unlocked void fiend yet because im determined to unlock him through Voidling but I also suck at the game. However, the idea of having two different potential build paths, to either go lots of healing normal form or max damage corrupted form depending on what you feel like, seems really cool to me. I look forward to playing him in 30 years when I beat voidling
EDIT: Just did a drizzle command run as railgunner and beat voidling. easy game honestly
1 harvest scythe is ok if you want to stay corrupted. it doesnt overpower the crit, but dont stack them

Some dumb "tech" I found
With 3 gesture of the drown and tonic, you can abuse the tonic afflictions as you can remain in trespass during the tonic down time, and depending on how many afflictions you have, you can "heal" back to full as you hp durring down time will likely be full, and tonic buff scales hp based on percentage
A small thing i think you missed is that you can charge and fire your (base form) m2 while trespassing.
Enough stacks of back up mag in corrupt form can be used for crazy mobility

Regarding the patch that came out today the part about crowbars and delicate watches affecting the void fiend have been changed. No longer does additional damage

both of the new survivors are great, but I suppose it says something that I have thus far only bothered to get the mastery skin for the void fiend.

I want to point out in my playthroughs with him u got one bit abt void fiend kinda wrong, although pretty sure it was just a mix up. Void fiend in normal form is meant to tank dmg and act as a tank, with his basic attacks doing piss dmg even with their range, and his secondary having a lot longer charge up time. While in corrupted form you stay in the fight at close range, but must avoid getting hit as you have no way of healing yourself and can die very VERY easily if you aren't paying attention.

suggestion: if you haven't already done this, do railgunner with 17 soldiers syringes (you'll see why)
