For that price range I would have expected a better weld finish, I like the logo cut out although you won’t see it with a wheel mounted! If I’m honest I’d be tempted by the Mantec, £200 is a hefty difference.

Yeah shame the logo would be hidden by an alloy. Might be ok with a steelie

Agreed. Prefer they spent their time/labour cleaning up the welds, especially around the mountain plate on the arm, than dicking about with the SD logo that will actually never be seen.

    Well…
One thing for sure, the price is hefty 😮
So the main focus is, should be… is it that much better, then other models..?
And YES I would like to see this fitted … the welding looks a bit wonky, but that could be just a preproduction problem.
Quality however seems good … I would give it a go 👍

I’m really struggling to understand why spare wheel carriers are so expensive. This SDI one doesn’t seem anywhere near worth £670. The welding looks scruffy and the logo sits behind the wheel so you can’t see it. But mostly I’d be worried about it trapping water and rusting out. I haven’t had a spare wheel on my defender for ages as I can’t find anything reasonable.

I'm on making my own as I can't justify the price, laser cutting and powder coating isn't a lot these days.

Can we get a fitting video to see what this looks like on the vehicle? Can’t find any information or photos online about this product, nothing on either safety devices or britparts website. No idea what you would really be purchasing 🤷

We'll try and get one to fit. I know they are reworking all the stock to improve the quality of the welding. So might be why it's not available yet.

ORE wheel carrier still winning at that price.

At £724 for the ORE one the only person that is winning is the company owner!

Like already say the weld finish isn't goodespecially at that price I'd expect it to be ground down then maybe some ugly welding where they have greased.. I know the wheel covers it up but still for nearly 700quid I'd be dissapointed. The heavy duty Ness off it looks great tho

I hope it lasts longer than the Mantec one. I have replaced two of those after the powder coating peeled off in less than 3 years.

Good video. Not very impressed with SDI product which is a shame as they’ve been market leaders in roll cages for years. Would’ve expected much better welds from them.

I think this is way overpriced ,looking at the quality and design it is no where as good as the Mantec one, I can see that all the crevices on this will break out with rust in a very short time, it looks like it was MIG welder by a Chimpanzee, those crude spacers are awful and just bad design, to try selling at this price but not include fitting instructions is a definite fail. £200 max for this. I would say expensive, I certainly don't like the potential dirt and water trap where it's greased, it wouldn't have taken a lot to put a 10mm hole at the bottom of the facing plate to create a drain channel. Unless there are bump stops/buffers that you didn't show I think that looks like a noise making rattle machine!
