I have just ordered mine this evening and look forward to fitting it. I would like to just say a big thank you to you Simon for your never ending passion for our vehicles. Your incredible attitude to customer service is wonderful to see, in a world where so many companies no longer seem to care about doing the right thing. Keep up the great work, you truly are Powerful and I’m proud you are in the UK!
Thanks - its not just me... we have a team here that make it all happen .. i think I have mild ADHD and I tent to be hyper focused on one thing but it soon changes to the next idea... and i need the team to actually make sure all the projects happen and get to market.
@@gurmotI think working for Simon would be a privilege and wonderful training for the young staff he has introduced to us over the years. It is rare to see such an engaged and thoughtful boss who is an inspiration to those around him. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Yes we should have added that the alignment tool makes the job easier. Glad the lock fitted well - we are getting some good feedback on these since we re-released them !
I just fitted mine onto my 5094 18” alloy spare and all went well. Some feedback to make it easier for others. The QR supplied could link to a shorter video on how to fit without all the history. The actual info needed is only about 2 minutes but it’s later into the longer video. Wrestling with the wheel to refit (as Simon did) is made easier if a guide is used to fit over the top stud as an aligning and temporary resting place. The OeM wheel cover won’t fit but I used a holesaw to cut out enough material on the inner skin of the wheel cover. This allowed it to be refitted although I did leave off the new black cover as there wasn’t quite enough room the way I did it. Perhaps Simon could provide a paper cutting template for anyone wishing to do this? I didn’t need the neoprene spacer but I did use silicone grease to protect the locking mechanism, particularly the lock pins which could get stuck if dust or mud gets inside. A good solution to an annoying problem, I hope it works if it’s ever called upon to do its duty. Finally, it would be nice to have neat solution of where to keep the key inside the vehicle. Maybe a magnetic holder or something to put with the tools under the boot floor.
Thanks for the feedback - I will make a shorter video and use the stud in the video ! The 5094 is an odd wheel - as it has that huge mound in the middle ( as shown in the long video ! ) The key is not magnetic so it needs another solution... let me take a look We do have the keyholder / organiser here.... www.powerfuluk.com/collections/new-defender-interior-accessories/products/cubby-box-key-organiser-alloy-wheel-type-for-land-rover-defender-l663
Interesting - I am worried water and grit will get in through the hole.... maybe a put a groove on the inner surface pointing to the rear. The other point maybe to add a drip line - like on the bottom of a window cill - to stop water wicking backwards...

We are working on a laser cut guage we can send people - they can then mark the guage on their wheel and return to us so we can make the correct lock for your application.
Simon LR dealer showed me a picture of one of his clients Defender spare wheel that had been stolen in an airport multi storey carpark.. They had actually used a recipitator saw and had cut the wheel mount off behind the wheel itself.
Holy smoke ! thanks for sharing - this is new information ! We have a new product coming - i have not launched it yet - here is a sneak preview ruclips.net/video/vOOHIp83RtM/видео.html But if they are using saws thats crazy ! The spare wheel mounts are expensive too ! We have a new back to front spare wheel mount coming aswell - will be much harder to cut that ! Its a crazy world we live in ! Simon
Yes this should be possible. A lot of people leave the spare alone when changing wheels....or fit a wheel cover so it does not look any different. I have not finished the steel wheel adaptor yet - should be approved this week.
I’ve just fitted mine and you weren’t joking about not dropping the wheel on the lock. That’s exactly what I did - it only lightly tapped it and the whole plastic housing just snapped off. The plastic looks like brittle 3D printed rubbish, but this should surely be neoprene rubber or nylon, or something both tough and flexible? Now mine wobbles so much I will have to scrap it and buy the LR wheel lock, so I’ve wasted my money here
We will happily send you another plastic body free of charge ! We recommend using the pin to alight the wheel - I will make a new video. You can also send the broken parts back for a refund - no problem - we are here to help !
Simon , thank you. I just love the passion you have. Thanks for sharing some insightfully good information. Just watched video. I know it’s stupid but I need to wait until tomorrow morning to check on wheel type so I can order (x-dynamic 90 HSE) before I order. So, just a thought. The locking mechanism looks a substantial piece of engineering. Any thought of being able to incorporate an Apple Air Tag somewhere in the body of the lock? Thanks again, Dave
I can see you have the makings of a master criminal - more cunning than a double headed fox ! I did check this - it is a good question - the keys are not unniversal - i tested this myself while packing some of the kits ! Simon

Hi Jess - thanks for purchasing and thanks for the feedback - we have the 20" just arrived and we will test today... but sounds like you already did the testing for us !
Simon, please can you help me? I Purchased my new Defender 90 today & coincidentally, your kit for my 20” Spare Wheel 6011 part number (20” Black Alloys) arrived today too but… Can I get the key barrel to fit in & lock the mechanism? NO. No matter what I do, the key barrel will only go in half way. Please help as it’s going to be my wife’s car & reversing up to inches away from the garage door all the time is not the driving experience she was looking forward to in a new Defender 😱… I will phone your office for guidance please
Sorry to hear about the problem - there is a bit of an art to turning the key to the correct location. For your lock the C ring should be on the slot closest to the wheel - can you try the C ring in the slot furthest from the wheel with the step facing toward the wheel. It will be a little loose but we can check the lock works and every thing is OK. Then we can either send you another kit - or spacer washers. If you email customer service they will help. Sorry but we do not have customer support over the phone.
Is it possible I can drive down to you on Saturday please for you to see? I am no mechanic & a friend has also tried & he cannot do it either. I’m only 30 miles from you & can be there anytime to suit you? Very concerned about driving it without the lock on. Thank you
Followed your instructions Simon regarding the C Ring. Just turned it round and I can now lock it, thank you. The complete lock is a lovely piece of quality engineering, very pleased now I’ve got it on. Will now relax when parking my Defender anywhere knowing I’ve got added security for retaining my spare wheel. Thank you once again, a great purchase 👍😁
So you would think - Land Rover supplied the locking wheel nuts in a kit of 6 - they fitted 2 on the spare wheel..... guess what - the thieves have worked out how to remove them and are stealing all the wheels.... we had 700 people on the back order for these locks ! the locking wheel nuts just do not work !
i think it would be worth including a sticker for the outside of any wheel cover stating "additional wheel lock fitted" or "HSX wheel lock". in the hope anybody seeing it might leave it alone and not steel your cover either.
Sooooo disappointed Simon. Been waiting ages until the wheel lock kit is in stock only to find out that this lock is not compatible with the Defender spare wheel cover as it protrudes out from the wheel centre. This problem seems limited to the 5094 pattern only and of course I have a set of 5 with winter treads and a set of 5 with "normal" tread - and a spare wheel cover which, in reality, the effort of trying to remove it will deter most tea leaves - no finger nails is a dead giveaway !
Hi Bill - it may work with the spare wheel cover - i do not have 5094 with a tyre on. Would you like me to send you a kit to test for me ? We do also have a new product coming soon - a wiring loom that taps into the rear door "open" circuit and this gives you a wire you can put around your wheel / wheel cover / trailer / bike etc. If the wire is cut the alarm will sound !
