and 25 minutes later my Defender was minus that stupid shiny bit of useless plastic, and sporting its new smart sunglasses holder 😎... a perfect video Simon... thank you!
Thanks so much! I've been pressing the black panel for a month wondering where my sunglass holder was. Ordered the kit from your site for my Disco Sport and will fit it next weekend.
@@L663 All fitted and a very happy chappy here. The small things in life... Got the spring first time, but more by good luck than any skill on my side.
Great kit and video. On my 2022 MY the clips to remove the frame were aft of blank panel centre not in front. Positioning of frame when replacing in roof is key to the holder moving cleanly without fouling the rear lip. Grease on the white ‘latch’ cog aids reliable latching by damping it slightly😉
Merci pour votre vidéo elle est super je vous ai commandé le coffret pour lunettes de soleil je l'ai reçu je l'ai monté très facilement grâce a votre vidéo je vous en remercie beaucoup et à bientôt
Great retrofit, would have been easier if I had followed Simon’s advice to glue in the cog as it pinged out during the fight with the spring and was lost for a day until found by the dog !
Thank you for your video it's great I ordered you the box for sunglasses I received it I mounted it very easily thanks to your video thank you very much and see you soon
I felt cheated too. LR removed so many things from MY23-23.5. So in return I removed only one thing with them and that's my order(even due to be collected next month). I'd only considered to order another if there is a powerfulUK(or Simon) edition.
Great video. When I finished, before I reinstalled it overhead, the sunglass holder seemed to work flawlessly. However, when I put the console back overhead, the holder seemed a little "finicky". When I pushed the front of the holder up, to put my sunglasses in, I had to push hard to get it to go up, then push on the back of the piece to get it to release down. Then a similar process to put the sunglasses back in. It seems to be getting stuck on the little lip inside the console. Any advice?
I would be interested in a switch panel instead of a sunglasses tray. My 2022 Defender has a blanking panel and it'd be great to swap this out with an auxiliary switch panel with in-keeping switches for, say, spot lights, work lights, etc. Anything planned?
Simon…help, great instructions which I followed exactly, but the door does not stay closed after reinstalling…..it doesn’t seem like the little white “bit” doesn’t engage properly…..what did I do wrong
Hi Peter - we have the same issue on our new 90 - Destiny and I tried this last week and found its OK outside the car but when installed it does not quite catch - we added some grease which fixed it but not really 100% happy - we are going to try and 3D print our own white cog. All the parts are genuine LR ( other than the cog ) so should be OK.... I will study some more tomorrow.
@@doylecoffinarchitecture4671 I was working on this today - we just got another new 90 and can now see the problem - at the end of the day I think I came up with a theory - will test on Monday !
@@L663 you’re welcome my friend. I don’t have that problem. I have the discovery 300TDI and there’s no sunglasse holder there 😂😂😂. But again great job my friend👍👍👍
That's a good idea!! In relation to that, I don't understand why Land Rover and other off-road vehicles don't have the option to have a waterproof connector built into the roof rails (the ones embedded along the length of the roof) so that owners can easily connect something like a light bar, beacon or even a 12v power source! Come to think of it, they could even also have an option for a solar panel connection to allow for the charging of accessories when the vehicle is parked or to power something like a portable fridge.
Excellent idea, you could even place the aftermarket switches in the slide down sunglasses panel so they can be closed and out of sight when not used. Very 007.
We did have a problem when we did this - in the last step when you fit the cover over the back make sure you have the clips in correctly. The rear cover does give some strength to the frame where it is thin and this seems to help. Try just refitting the rear cover.
The white bit was not cooperating. I could not figure out it’s orientation. It would not engage anything. Everything else was working great. I took it all apart and put it back in the box. I might just go with the more expensive option. If I every figure this out I will absolutely be using a adhesive glue on the cog, it went flying when I disassembled this hot mess. I imagine this was all definitely me just not getting it. Seems that several others here had no problem and Simon seems confident.
Simon I’m a big fan. Could you make a video of fitment on push bar a new Land Rover defender. I recently bought defender 90 wound like put a few mods. Push bar is on of it. Thanks
This upgrade is now for sale on our website

I got my order in minutes after you uploaded! This was the only thing missing from my car spec, so I count myself lucky...
Hello Simon, any plans to offer the sunglasses holder in Gloss black to match the spec of the blank in the V8?

Can't believe how easy that was, thanks for the great instruction video.

Fitted mine today , perfect fit easy install, even bought a hot glue gun , highly recommend to finish the car spec that blank was awful ,
Glad we helped !
Thanks, is there a retro fit for rear climate controls on a 110 I have a blank there also

Ouch - some of the things they are removing are a bit loss - like the digital dash

Same issue for me. My headlining piece seem to hold it too tight? It stops working properly only once fitted up. If I drop it down, works fine again 😐

I’m thinking instead of sunglasses, use the new panel as a place for aftermarket accessories switches.

@@andrewjones-productions That would make way too much sense! Instead they seem to make it so bloody difficult to do these things afterwards!🤷🏻♂

For a great look at how you could use it for just that purpose…

Yes for £150 ours is £39

Have you got a kit for this on an LR4?
