The Secret to Japanese Traditional Dance | Nihon Buyō Master Tachibana Shino (eng sub)

Another form of Japanese traditional performing arts combines dancing and mime. It’s called Buyō, which became an independent art form back in Edo Japan. Nihon Buyō has many different schools.
Today, we will be speaking with Ms. Tachibana Shino, who is the key figure of the Tachibana school.
Japanese dancing is the dancing part of Kabuki, which consists of both acting and dancing. For dancing, there are male dancing and female dancing. For female dancing, it’s easier if you see it, the wrists and the knees face inward. For male dancing, the wrists and the knees all face outward.
The fan is the most often used prop in traditional Japanese dancing.
