This woman is a walking piece of art. Not sure it is possible to transfer her skills to someone else. It is not even about movements. It is about the inner culture. Her facial expression, as if she looks inside, is absolutely remarkable.
@@FC-eh7ll she wasn't randomly showing me hand movements. It was part of the conversation. I had NO idea who she was when we met. But WOW just such subtle movements were wonderful.
I feel very privileged to even see her dance in videos. If I were to meet her in real life, I don’t even know if I could handle it. Such an amazing person.
Evening from the U.K and OMG it's stunning viewing, words for me it's hard to explain, I could watch you dance and teach your love and passion for your Culture. I hope you're family will keep on going. The men who are singing, I might not understand the words, but it touched my heart and soul, I believe all women should have a strong sense and a beautiful standard from the top to the bottom.I have always been interested in Japanese History, thank you for sharing your post ❤❤❤
I watched a very long video of her grandmother teaching her. It was absolutely magnificent. The level of professionalism in Keomai's dance is incredible. And a joy to watch.
I love this. Being a Shakuhachi player, I hear the traditional arts are being lost and forgotten in Japan. This video gives me hope that the Japanese youth will continue to carry on their deep, rich, beautiful culture. Thank you for this post.🙏
My sister is a practicioner of traditional dance also...so i know the beauty of traditional dance from her... And here i am, seeing the legend does kyomai...such a privillege for me
The commitment, self discipline, grace and beauty of this dance form is remarkable. I love that it is passed on from one woman to the next, respecting the traditions but willing to accept that Japan is constantly evolving and the dance must evolve with each subsequent generation. Beautiful.
Greetings from Brazil, beloved Japanese brothers and sisters! It's a pleasure seeing such a beautiful culture well preserved and integrated in modern times. The Japanese and the Brazilian cultures are complementary to each other and I love that.
You can see the big difference to the young generations how gracious and strong the old woman dance i anticipated her every movement plus she doesnt need make up' ..she is a true legendary living national treasure of Japan..
This is a wonderful video. Inoue san effortlessly commands so much respect It is always good to see an old tradition of a respected culture has a secure future in the younger generation. :-)
I believe marital arts and such kind of performing arts from Japanese tradition, are real great for developing spatial skills, agility, awareness of the unseen threat (in any possible dimension) in a person.
One thing that was interesting to me was looking at the floorboards when she's dancing at around the 4minute mark. The innermost 2-3 boards of that tearoom have been danced on by so many different women that the lacquer has been *worn off* by their *socks*. It must be truly incredible to be responsible for carrying on these traditions.
when watching traditional dances from mainly asian countries, i often amazed theyre capable of moving gracefully without making sound like theyre floating. i grew up in java and used to learn traditional dance, my teacher is pretty old but she have no problem squating for hours. with that leg power she must be able to kick anyone nicely if she want to. Fast and quietly, ninja style.
All of her Kimono regarding of the colour, are in the exact same shade so if you were to photograph them in black and white, they would be the exact same shade of grey. This is no accident, she knows exactly what colour tone suits her to her best and wears it in different colour variations. This is exactly what the ladies in the Heian period used to du as they aged, going one shade darker every year. Even her fashion sense is flawless. And her makeup and hair are perfection. Anna wintour watch and learn, this is how it is done.
I understand that this expresses elegance and emotion to those educated in the tradition. For those of us who aren't though, it is very difficult to see the merits of her movements, and to gain any idea beyond "slow" or "sudden" . Cultural traditions are truly diverse.
It would help if you knew the meaning of the lyrics. I wish they had shown the full length dances with subtitles translating the lyrics. The movements make a lot more sense that way
Lovely and elegant. I would like to know the piano song performed from the 0:53 time of the video. If anyone knows can you let me know? I appreciate, thanks.
Thank so much you for showing us such a rich beautiful culture Beautiful kimonos artistic technique knowledge preserve pass down should never be lost, it is equally as importance as the historical importance of the male Samurai
I am so happy that Japanese keeping their culture and nobleness and when the lady in their kimono 👘 it just breathtaking and they are so beautiful and elegant and I am proud that Japan are part of Asia and japan makes me proud to be a part of Asian people GOD BLESS JAPAN and long live japan culture and I will visit japan 🇯🇵 in the future!!!

This dance combines elegance, grace and strength. I once had the fortune of seeing a live dance. Completely moving, I had tears on my eyes.
I met her in Kyoto. She was showing me the hand movements. Just a turn of her hand is complete magic. I have no idea how she does it.
Where and how did you meet her and why was she randomly showing you the hand movements?

That stage is the Kyomai practice stage so it’s had students dancing on it for 200+ years. It’s incredible it’s lasted that long
thank you very much I hope to support you more.

Who is the geiko dancing in the black kuromontsuki at the 5:00 mark?
