One of the things I truly appreciate is that you always share the Daniel Smith colours you use. It is super helpful as I love my DS and like to learn from you.
I love watching you watercolor flowers Debby. It is so relaxing and peaceful. A bit of respite from the worldly troubles. Thank you SO much for sharing!
Wow. Before all the splatters the flower looked like a botanical print. I slow downed the painting and remembered to mute to watch you paint. Just loved the finished card. Cheers Lisa
This card is gorgeous. I love peonies and this is the best one I’ve seen in a long time. You made it so realistic looking. Love to watch you paint and listen to your soothing voice. Thanks for sharing.
You...are...amazing! I so look forward to your videos. It's so much fun to watch you bring a flat stamped image to such a dimensional piece of art. Thank you so much for sharing yourself with us.
Unfortunately I don't speak English very well, but I find your videos and tips so awesome that I absorb them as if they were the last videos on RUclips. 😄🤗
Hi Tania, I think the phrase is that I thought myself although I think that is an inaccurate as in reality I read books, watched RUclips etc and learned from watching others. Lots of practice and enjoying the process too :D
@@DebbyHughes thank you, I think I’ll learn a lot from watching you. Not really sure how I came across your videos yesterday but I’m so so happy I did, I can’t thank you enough for making them xx
Debby, your peony is so lovely! I learn so much from watching your videos, and your voice is so calming. I have trouble with where to put shadows especially on round type flowers like peonies and roses. Thanks for sharing your talent! One other thing. I've noticed that you often round brushes, but for the peony you used what looks like a flat angled brush. Can you help me understand when you would choose the flat angled over the round?
Gorgeous! I wouldn’t have given this stamp a second look until seeing what you have done - brought it to life. Oh my Debbie you are so talented and SO patient. Thank you.
Gorgeous as always! I love watching you paint flowers as they come to life with every new layer! You always inspire me to keep trying with my watercoloring - thank you for bringing us along when you paint!
Hi Barbara and sorry for the delayed response. I'm a cautious person by nature, so layering comes naturally to me. Taking my time and seeing if I have the depth I want in the right areas. I like the look of layers too. Sometimes I change the colour a little, mixing in a complementary colour to mute the hue for the shadows. Sometimes I add a new colour totally; a pale wash of warm yellow can do wonders to brighten things up and add a sunny glow. Sometimes though, it is simply adding more pigment because I was too cautious in my initial approach!
Wow spell check changed what I said meditative was what I said. I too am cautious, that’s more my problem than yours since you have such beautiful results. Do you have recommendations on mixing colors, like a book or a class? I see artists adding purple to green for example, which huts my brain! 2 secondary colors!
@@barbarahill6365 I do love a bit of colour theory but I keep to the basics, finding colours I like and then mixing those with complementary colours as need be. However, I do like to do colour studies like Jane Blundell. Have you seen Jane's lovely rainbow of colour mixing charts?
Beautiful card and very lovely watercolouring. How lovely to have such a lovely selection of items from Simon Says Stamp. I’m assuming you are one of their demonstrators?
Hmm, I tend to paint in blocks of time when I can escape from the family for a few minutes! I'm guessing a couple of hours to make this card. I hope that helps.
Once again you've got me at awww🥰😊❤ Absolutely Stunning Debby. It reminds me of a painting that my grandmother painted. It was painted back in 1938 she told me. I love Peonies, we had them grown around our whole backyard. Debby can I ask you what color shade of paint did you paint the tips of the leaves? And what is the number of your brushes that you use mostly and are the real hair or synthetic for that spring back of the bristles? Thank You Debby You are my biggest mentor and you give me so much inspiration to try to get painting again. You mean the world to me, Thank You for all your time that you give us😊❤❣ Xoxo Vicki
Hi Vicki, and thank you for your kind words! Hmm, I'm afraid I can't remember the mix I used for the leaves. As for brushes, I started with real hair ones as they were supposed to be the best but as time has gone on, I now prefer synthetic brushes for the control you get with the slightly firmer bristles. I recommend a size 2 and 4 for card making. Hope that helps.
Hi Helen, I was trying a few brushes I bought from Rosemary Brushes here in the UK. The range is called Red Dot and I think the one I was using was a ⅛ angular brush. Hope that helps :D
Debby. Beautiful card watching you paint is very relaxing. Gorgeous card. Can you let me know what brush you are using with the angled bristles. I couldn’t find it on your supply list . Thanks for your inspiration.

I love this, it’s beautiful, I’ve learnt so much from watching these videos. Especially liked the touch of pink on the leaves. Do you ever use rough textured watercolour paper? What’s that generally used for? Thanks
Totally lovely card that is amazing! However, while I don't think watching the entire video in real time would be feasible, MORE real time painting would be appreciated...especially by your non artistic viewers like me! I often slow it WAY down and mute the sound so I can see how you achieve what you do. As others have said, watching you paint is very soothing...and that's how we learn! Speeding up the video, for the most part, is frustrating. Love your tips on splatters...! Thank you!!
Absolutely stunning! I was just looking at this stamp set a few minutes ago. Your card is the one that makes me want to order this stamp set! Gorgeous!
The shading in this is incredibly realistic, I’m always so incredibly impressed with your talented coloring. I find myself holding my breath when you start splattering! How long did it take to complete the painting of the peony?
I could watch you paint all day!
I don't do watercolor, but this caught my eye because the card is so beautifully done & peonies are my favorite flower.

Thanks for the info. I guess that means it will take me at least 4+ hrs.
Gorgeous, I wish I could paint like that. Practice, practice and more practice. But no worries, I have time for it now.
Wonderful😁👏👍💕

Very medicine to watch. As you keep layering on colors, are you changing the colors? I know it’s darker, but that can be done with more pigment.
