I was wondering how long that seat clamp was going to last. I was on a 30 mile ride and the exact same clamp snapped similar to yours 10 miles from home. Had to dance on the pedals all the home.
I don’t really see me making videos about indoor stuff, much better people out there covering that stuff. But my set up is a kickr core and a kickr climb, connected to an Apple TV4k for zwift.
OK, I laughed out loud through that whole thing. Almost felt like standing up and cheering when (spoiler alert) the final clamp worked. (I think I need help.)
I recently built a custom hardtail MTB. I was at the trailhead fiddling with seat height on the first big ride and managed to snap the bolt itself on a Hope clamp. We took a bolt off my friend's roof rack and survived the ride but it cured my desire for fancy seat clamps.
Got the ultrastar 4 before you, didn’t work for me, then got the gold colored Chinese you recommended and works fine. Still running a yuniper btw. Hope it never breaks..
I rank this one with the tubeless sealant video. 🤣, I almost 💩 on myself laughing! Giant doesn't have a traditional clamp, I'm stuck with their proprietary system.
I see why people are called influencers! I saved some grams today, but better more made an improvement! Swap out your rear mech hanger for a direct mount one. Saved about 15 grams and improved the shifting!😁
That is the actual box it came in 😰 (however, there might have been some other bits and pieces in there 😬) I’ve seen worse though *caugh* amazon *caugh*
I ordered a rear mech hanger and 2 tiny bolts, to hold it on they are like 4 mm's long for my trek they came in 2 seperate packages the mech in an envelope and the bolts in a bigger than shoe box size box.
Normally I would not waste my time watching someone f•*k with a seat post clamp, yet I was enthralled and had to watch the whole thing. Cinematic talent.
Less heavy breathing could save a few grams. Terrific video , so much suspense I half expected a cameo appearance from Alfred Hitchcock . Like "Weekend Warrior" commented Hollywood could not do any better. 👍👍
You videos never disappoint. I went thru a range of feelings watching this. From disbelieve thinking that 16.8grams was heavy to shock @2:45 to suspence to happiness. P.s. - Where do you get your cycling jerseys from? I love the colors.
@@ridesofjapan 40 EUR to Australia for me... miss the days of 20 EUR shipping. But then again small beans given the state of the world. Stay safe and funky!
Art Uro hehe.. yeah, but I’m the case of Darimo you choose the length depending on the length from top of seat tube to saddle rail. And you are specifically told no to cut or trim it, as it would void the warranty.
@@ridesofjapan I knew what you meant. Doesn’t fit the émonda. Thank you, I was on the fence after breaking my tune skyline but I will give this a try. Trying to get under 4.9kg 😄
You should know your ideal saddle height by now. Just drill a hole straight through the seat tube and and seatpost and stick a bolt through. And use an aluminum bolt for optimum lightness. I was looking for a fix for the seatpost always slipping down so I came up with this solution and it has worked great on my last two bikes.
Compressing carbon tubes in that way would be very uneven clamping force. Also if you change your saddle and the new one has a different stack height you are stuffed
@@JS-tb9hu There is only one saddle I will ever use and it's the Specialized Elaston. Also my bike and seatpost are titanium. I wouldn't have any of that carbon garbage. Carbon is for fools.
I've seen Hollywood movies that couldn't get the same level of suspense, and you did it with a seat post clamp. Well done!
Someone had to do it 😅
Cheers!
When you were torquing down that second clamp I realized I had actually stopped breathing 😳
YES! SAME!
It’s simply amazing how you can make a small apartment space look like a professional studio. Very impressive Torvig, love the videos 🥰😍👏🏻
Torvig, like that name ;)
Cheers!
Your storytelling and cinematography is amazing
Fun fact, the clamp on my Mtb weighs around 70g... (Specialized stumpjumper m2 1996)
Found myself getting tense when you where tightening it up 😂 love it!
Imagine how I felt 😜
Yeh I was waiting for the torque wrench click and give....phew!
I found my own ring tightening up until the bowel movements were mentioned. Fastest way to lose grams.
Tightening up, as it were.
Brilliant! Shortfilm award worthy!
Hahahh, Haribo gummy bears - the signature of r2 bike :))
this made me smile as we enter the fifth week of skies filled with ash in norcal. well done.
Never had such a deep and nervewrecking moment in a video as here, as you tightened the replacement clamp 😱
Honestly, the only channel I would watch when the topic is a seat clamp. I'm not even a WW.
Why did I wait 3 days to watch this epic production!?!? So funny 🤣😅🤣😂. Thankyou Mr Rides of Japan 🙏
These video's just make my whole day!!! Thank you!!!
Huge larf! Much enjoyed. The journey ultimate minimalism continues.

Another brilliantly funny video/documentary! Thank you!! 😂😂😂
I can't believe I did not had suggestions for your channel before, Your videos are stellar! Thank you!
You've done such a nice work! 😁
Just had to comment on how great your videos are!
cheers mate, much appreciated!
Great video. There hasn't been one for a while and I was getting withdrawal symptons.
man your story telling is on another level!
seriously best youtube channel for cycling! amazing stuff ROJ
Lovin' the sound at the end of the video (fits well with what you do!)
What an excellent production. I love watching you save the grams.👍
Damn tightening the second clamp really was tense! 😰
The Zwift weight curse🤣. Great story telling dude
Damn that was good! You just keep getting better!
I've farted more weight than that seat clamp.
You are one sick puppy buddy! (and I mean that in the most endearing way 🤣👍)
The suspense! :D
Could you do a video on your zwift setup sometime?
I don’t really see me making videos about indoor stuff, much better people out there covering that stuff.

worked for now, that thing don't last
Maaaan, so tension in the narrative!!! Awesome! 👍👍👍
CZE: respekt .... tvoje videa jsou hodně vtipná, máš parádní obsah :-)
This is exactly the ultra-niche content I came here for 😂😂

Brilliant funniest vid ive seen in a while
Next level achieved
My Surly clamp weighs more than your entire bike.
Damn! Mine hasn't arrived yet and I was thinking that I'd have a bit more carbon bling than RoJ, but no!

Awesome work!!! Well done and the weight savings will let you carry more Haribo..
Hihi, it was the first time I rode an Open U.P. on a test event and exact that happens in the middle of the single track! 🤬
Ahhh.. what a channel, what a video...
I think I have the best seat clamp. It has an integrated dropper... well, uni-directional, but it's something...
Probably just for show, but tell me they didn't actually ship that tiny thing in that big ass box?
That is the actual box it came in 😰

R2-candy? 😊
It's annoyingly wasteful, but sometimes small items are shipped in big boxes to stop them getting lost.
Brilliant

Somehow I feel like I need to apologize 😅
Cheers for sticking through it 🙏
Get my first one from R2 also. The second one, 36.9mm just made directly by Darimo for me and sent for free to me:):):)

Fantastic

Could you do a video of how you set up your Garmin? data screens etc. Pretty please with sugar on top?

They could've included 100 bags of Haribo in the size of that box 😂
You would gain grams then.
ah the pursuit of perfection. whats that cable in the seatpost?
di2 cable
@@ridesofjapan Figured you would replace it with TP-cable strands or something.
I don't know why but at the beginning of the video your

Hi do you have a video on the ultrastar 4? If not do you like it?
Don’t have a video no… but it worked fine. Now sold as I couldn’t use it with my new bike.
r2!
Love the clip, mate. Two weeks of strength and endurance training will compensate for a 1kg weight gain. Just sayin'.
Heath Keegan that logic makes no sense mate 🤪
Rides of Japan Booh! More cheeseburgers + 2 weeks of S&E will work then... yes/no?
you clearly a R2 fan now
Buying from Star bike? I think I recognize those haribo gummies..lol

The only online seller that ships with haribo as far as i know of

Odd question: But how much was shipping from Germany to Japan. The COVID surcharge has really made international shopping really expensive!
Yep, pretty damn expensive... 35 euro with dhl

13 grams savings! As it matters so much on indoor trainer 😁

How's that clamp holding up?
No problems up until it was sold
