Ah a Darimo T1 review from Cyclespeed tours - just what I needed after successfully resisting buying it all year long! This post just laughs in the face of my hefty Enve alternative. So cool they do frame specific versions now, like the Tarmac (SL6?) etc. I'd be interested in an update/long-term review down the line too :)
I just put a SI 59 on a Darimo. I only needed a 250mm post so it came in at 127g. Only been out on it once but it seemed OK. Creaked a little but that's all
I would be very leery with just those bands holding the saddle in place. You can be a weight weenie and still be safe. I over torqued my seat post and put a crease in it and I replaced it just yo be safe.
It's a bit mind-bending to see those flimsy-looking strings are the only thing to prevent the saddle from dislodging! On the other hand it surely looks and weigh amazing ;D
Keep in mind that the same material is used in climbing industry for years. Once you take a few meter fall on equipment with dyneema sling all skepticism goes away
@@CyclespeedTours this quoting from the r2-bike website: "NOTE: The instructions for the product must be observed! Torques must be strictly adhered to. The clamping area must be observed and the seatpost must NOT be shortened."
@@PtWhiteBelt Well I guess they are covering themselves a bit. Yes, you should respect the clamping area that will be thicker, and not clamp in other areas. But if the post is very long, then the part below the clamp in the frame is doing nothing and can be cut. But best to just let them make it custom for your height.
@@CyclespeedTours I had a Smud carbon seatpost which was longer than I needed. I was told I could cut 30mm from it if I was careful but it would save 5g so I didn't bother....

creative weight reduction is the best weight reduction
the most satisfying, yes!!
Riding the same seatpost with selle Italia c59. No problems. The combo weighs around 130gr, if I correctly remember. I weigh 66kg in winter clothes
Cool! We're exactly the same weight....

🤯 so good. Any update on the Darimo for your Ostro.
No, still waiting!!
How do the strings provide more grip than a conventional clamp? Do they have a special texture?
if you buy gelu k3, your seating combo will weight only 140g+/-
Weight of the bike?
6.05kg
have you ever had the carbon wire fray/brake?
No, so far so good. I tighten to around 3Nm

Yeah, kind of hard to feel confidence, but those 'strings' have an enormous breaking strain and the grip on the rails is better than the Sworks

How much or little does your Tarmac weigh now?
@Andrew Bernard there you go! No need for an Aethos :)
@@simonwarmer8777 well Aethos with this equipment..... :D
I actually believe Darimo warns you not to shorten the seatpost so be careful about that.
Never heard that before. But they will make one in the length you ask for, so then no, you wouldn't want to cut it.
