This was AWESOME. You could release this version and gain millions of new fans. I'm 60 and this was absolute magic. I still can't see anyone else but Sammy replacing diamond Dave. Sammy brought out a new depth to Eddie's song writing and vice a versa. Their talents complimented each other perfectly for that time in their lives. I remember buying THE first Van Halen album and I loved David Lee Roth and I loved Sammy Hagar with VH.
I can only pray that I will be this mobile and energetic at 77(Daryl) 76(Sammy). Awesome
55 here. I loved it when he took over for Diamond Dave, but I had to call it 'Van Hagar' in my head to keep the generations straight!

Sammy's voice was absolutely perfect in the '70s and absolutely nothing has changed! Such a fantastic singer! Daryl Hall is a terrific artist and performer but, I'm sorry, when Sammy's in the room that's who I want to hear!

Standing Hampton is probably my favorite Hagar (solo) album. Was a junior in HS, and soon after that the innocence of life was quickly stripped away and I had to good 8 years of unfun times. But this album always made me smile.
This is a very old video but just badass. Sammy is my all time favorite. I think Daryl is so underrated even though he is considered to one of the best ever. I think his adaption skills to EVERYONE else's tunes is 2nd to none. He just rolls. Love it

I appreciate both these guys even more with the passing time. Listened to both of them in the early 80's, even before Sammy's work with Van Halen. Wore out Voices and Three Lock Box cassettes as a kid.

This song is so much better acoustically.
Not that it was bad as an electric rock song.
Just this version conveys much more emotion about a man declaring independence.
And trading off with Darryl, despite missing a word here and there, gives it an extra dimension.
