This is a direct result of the green agenda.
Shortsighted people want to stop using coal and nuclear.
Making Europe reliant upon gas from Russia.
Now they can’t buy gas from Russia!
Until the Ukraine conflict starts the EU and the UK wanted to ban gas.
Resulting in our gas storage capacity being demolished.
Now we don’t even have a backup supply of gas.
But don’t worry the solar panels and wind turbines will save us 😂

The UK has had about 10 days of storage for at least 15 years. Centrica went to the government around that timeframe with a proposal and request for investment to repurpose an exhausted gas field in the Irish Sea to become another strategic gas storage location as the existing only major gas storage facility (Rough - an exhausted gas field in the North Sea) was coming to the end of it's serviceable life. The government said no, because short-sightedness is a feature of British culture these days.

This is infuriating, too late for this emergency but there is decades worth of gas sitting in North Sea and it’s only because of bad gov policy that our energy prices are the highest in developed world. With the new nuclear plant being a perfect example of gov bureaucracy out of control and 1 stupid desperately needed plant costing almost $60 billion. This is all self inflicted, so many laws need struck off at this point, our version of energy privatisation has been a failure. I care much more about my out of control energy bill than the stupid House of Lords or the chancellor flying to China or the pm flying out of the country at every opportunity and giving away yet more billions of tax payers money every time he shows up at a conference. The UK lacks gas storage capacity for overall demand. Europe has roughly 105 bcm (100 billion cubic metres) of gas storage capacity, equating to 22 per cent of annual consumption.
By contrast, the UK has just 0.9 bcm of gas storage relative to around 80 bcm. The UK often has a surplus capacity to import LNG.
Instead of importing substantial amounts of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) in the summer and storing it in winter storage, the UK relies on its production and Norwegian pipeline supplies, ‘topped up’ with LNG imports. Europe, by contrast, has comparatively less LNG import capacity.
UK Gas Supply and or Storage, fluctuates constantly, and is managed as such, to ensure the country, that being the UK, is always supplied. However, with WWIII looming, this could all change in an instant....
