    =============
    NISSAN MICRA 1.5dci n-tec 3dr, 18 Months of Ownership.
    In this video (in shiny new 4k we may add) we are talking about what the Nissan Micra is like to own for the last 18 months or so. We talk about the costs of ownership, economy and insurance as well as any problems we have experienced with the mighty diesel powered 3dr Nissan Micra n-tec and how reliable we have found it.
    The Nissan Micra featured in this video is the third generation Nissan Micra, with the designation of it being the K12. It was launched in 2002 and was on sale for 8 years until it was replaced with the K13 model variant in late 2010. It is available in either 3 door or 5 door variants and was powered by a choice of 1.2 or 1.4 litre petrol engines and a more frugal 1.5 diesel (dci K9K) power plant.
    The audio isn't the greatest as the microphone we were using we found didn't work after we took the car out on the road so we have done our best to enhance the audio more to make it worth listening to. We do have a new microphone setup on the way so look out for it in future car reviews coming soon to the channel.
    If you have any further questions or comments about the Nissan Micra K12 then please leave them in the comments section below.

    Thank you for the information about micra, it’s good to hear about your experience too, the reason for seeing your vlog is I am thinking to buy second hand 2002-2010 micra for my wife . Actually I have vwcc 2014 diesel which Is difficult for her and it’s a heavy engine..so that’s why I was comparing between Toyota aygo 2002-2010 & micra (mentioned above). So now I am sorted about the choice.. Thank you very much...

      Hi there, thank you for commenting.
      The only Toyota Aygo I have driven was a 2015 one which was the newer shape and from memory I did like it but unfortunately that was about 5 years ago so I couldn't really offer a fair comparison.
      For your wife, the Micra would be a great car for her to drive about in and I would hazard a guess that she will probably prefer it to the current VW CC that you are driving, to be honest for popping out for a short period of time you may like it also. The clutch is fairly light and the brakes work well plus it is quite nippy. The other thing she may like is the size of it as it is super easy to park.
      Unfortunately I cannot really offer you any tips in what to look out for when buying one of these as I went on gut instinct and an extended test drive. It may be worth both you and your wife going on a test drive and you can both see what you think. Also look at a few different Micras as you may spot a better driving one then just going for the first one you see.
      There is a forum for the Micra (K12) which may help in what to look out for when buying one of these which you will find at www.micra.org.uk/categories/k12-2003-2010.7/ and hopefully you can get some tips on what to look out for there.
      Hope it helps.
      Cheers,

    I had my Micra for 4 year's and never missed a beat it was great for my fist car but you hit the nail on the spot as got the 3 door as it's a pain for getting my daughter in and out so just bought a Nissan note tekna

    • @wetryanythingchannel
      @wetryanythingchannel  3 года назад

      Great to read that you have had no issues for the 4 years you have had your Micra and yes the 3dr can be a real pain when you have kids, which is sometimes why I wonder why I bought a 3dr?
      Unfortunately I have had some problems with my Micra in the last 4 months which has included mainly suspension problems and exhaust heat shields which have managed to fall off from their mounting points. At the moment I am experiencing a clunking noise from the rear when I drive it so I think it is time to see what else is out there and try not to spend any more money on fixing the Micra than I already have.
      To answer you other question the Nissan Note looks like a better alternative and if you get the n-tec version you get the touch screen sat nav, which I find very easy to use in my Micra and will be sorely missed when it is gone. There is plenty of room with them and they are meant to be quite cheap to run. Me personally, I will probably steer away from Nissan for my next car and maybe try a Kia Venga or a Toyota Yaris and see how I go from there.
      If you want to know more about the Nissan Note and the issues that have been reported by the owners visit: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/nissan/note-2006/good
      The above will give you an idea about what may go wrong with the Nissan Note plus they also review the car as well which may help you with your decision making.
      Hope it helps!!

      Totally agree as for a 10 year old car there are no annoying noises from the inside of the car, plus for the n-tec version that is featured in the video you do get some nice tech like sat-nav, air con etc. Well worth considering as a starter car. Thank you for commenting and have a great Christmas!!

      I still have that very Micra which you can see in the video. After 4 years of ownership the clutch is still quite high on it but it hasn't really changed since the day that I had picked it up which is quite lucky to be honest. Hope yours is working out to be ok as well.

      Have you tried some of the Micra forums, they may be able to help.
      If you are based on the UK check out www.micra.org.uk/
      It's a great forum, made up of people who love the Micra and there is even a Micra K12 section (amongst other model variants) where you can pose your question and even go through some of the queries other Micra owners have posted in the past.

    Would you say it was decent on the motorway? Is there a lot of road noise, and does it feel stable at high speed?

    • @wetryanythingchannel
      @wetryanythingchannel  3 года назад +1

      Hi there to answer your question it fairs well on the motorway for a small 3 door hatchback and I have in one day travelled 440 miles in it with no trouble at all.
      There is an amount of road/engine noise at speed but I don’t find it too obtrusive. It will depend on what you would be comparing it to, I.e. past cars you may have owned, but otherwise it’s competent and does the job well.
      The only thing I would say is that after driving a long distance you do feel that you have driven that amount of miles due to it being a small car and compared to something a bit bigger like the Kia Rio diesel it doesn’t feel as refined but that has never put me off driving it on the motorway. See if you can test drive one and see what you think if you can get it out on the motorway.
      Hope it helps!

      @@wetryanythingchannel Great, thanks for the reply. I just had another question about driving dynamics, is it fun to drive or is it quite dull? Is the steering good?

    • @wetryanythingchannel
      @wetryanythingchannel  3 года назад +1

      The diesel version that I currently own is good fun to drive and feels good cornering. It isn’t as good as say as a Mini or Fiesta (which I always found a bit jittery) but for a little car it has a great bit of character about it. Steering is a little heavier than say the Kia Rio we have but that feels a bit more assisted than the Micra.
      I am not sure what you have driven in the past but all I would say is if you get the chance take one for a test drive and see what you think.
      Cheers,

    The power steering of this car is very difficulty to fix if you got this terrible problem.

    • @wetryanythingchannel
      @wetryanythingchannel  2 года назад +1

      Agreed and it costs a fair amount of money to fix, so it is one of those things that I hope don't crop up while I own the Nissan Micra.
      While I do still like the Micra as a daily driver it will be moving on to pastures new before the New Year, due to me needing a 5dr over a 3dr, but I still have a MOT (UK road worthiness test) to get through before that happens so wish me luck!

      @@wetryanythingchannel thanks for that, I think this is the reason why the mpg isn't so great as you would expect for a small engine. 2600 rpm is quite high for a diesel

    • @wetryanythingchannel
      @wetryanythingchannel  3 года назад +1

      You are very welcome and thank you for your comment.
      I have always thought that 2600rpm was a bit on the high side, since I got the Micra, and on a 200 mile run it would average 50mpg. While that mpg figure is ok, it isn't what I think that a small car should be consuming as I feel that it should be more in the 60+ mpg range.
      The only thing I could think that it may be is that the clutch bite point is quite high so I am not sure if it is putting down the power as efficiently as it could be but unfortunately I do not have access to another Micra diesel to compare the difference.
      Otherwise it has been ok so far and with the left wishbone part being replaced it has been quite reliable also.

    Ye are so lucky with mot system in uk.In ireland you have to repair car before the mot and hope it passes.So you could spend a fortune on a car and still fail.Its called an NCT.People here call it NCT anxiety..

    • @wetryanythingchannel

      As much as I do love Ireland, and have visited Éire many, many times, I must admit that I do think that the MOT system is a great system to make sure that a car is road worthy here in the UK. Trust me this is coming from someone who is still driving around in the Nissan Micra that is featured in the video and after five years of owning it it has been the first year that it hasn't failed it's MOT due to one thing or another.
      Good luck with your NCT when it comes around!
