** pls read if your buying a micra ** I wouldn’t say it’s very reliable. Mechanically it is a reliable car. Engine, trans, brakes, suspension etc are all fine. But the electronics really let it down and it all comes from Renault. The electronic power steering is a very common part that fails, a ‘PS’ light comes on the dashboard and it is a very very expensive repair. The EPS is linked to the ECU and a 2nd hand part won’t work unless a computer is involved. Also sometimes people are able to reset the EPS using a computer and this sometimes can get it working for a short amount of time. So be aware of this. AC compressor commonly fails too. Then there’s other electric parts like the boot lock switch and buttons around the dash that just break over time. Seals tend to perish too and water can leak in. Not really from typical rainfall but definitely from going into a car wash, water will find its way in through the roof. All the doors have buttons on them and they aren’t sealed properly so they often have water ingress and this causes electronic failure. This is why the boot fails and your left with a car boot door that cannot open, making it useless. Just make sure you check the electronics thoroughly.
Thanks for the info Tawer. I've not heard too many horror stories about these Micras myself - I usually hear stories of good reliability. But it certainly can't hurt when looking for one to check all the electrics like you say.

Very good car we have a 2 door 1.4 auto on a 56 plate. had it for 5 years and it’s only got 35k on the clock! Don’t want to sell it but need something bigger now due to having young kids
I only found out about the secret seat storage compartment after I did the review :D I'm not sure if this model had it or not though. Pretty cool feature.
£500 ?? These are now going for £2500 as of May 2022 but otherwise thanks for the video although some further tech info would have been helpful. We've had two K13 3 cylinder series Micra's from the 2013 era where road tax continues to be just £30 per year and mileage a genuine 55mpg on a good run. Lack of power catches me out sometimes, which can be dangerous, but as for an all round vehicle it is excellent as it tours very well (we've been around France and UK distances with ease and comfort. Rear seats pop out with just two bolts if you really needed that extra space for two people touring. ) Cruises at 70mph with easy revs (3500 rpm I think?). Tiny turning circle too. I've always described them as being the 'little big car'.
Paid 3 k for my 2011 visia last year it only had 32 k on clock and it hasn’t missed a beat yet but the guy said these cars are going up in price because demand is quite high
I was using my 1990 t25 1.9 petrol camper as a daily driver an so I was basically pouring petrol out the window! So I bought a 2004 5 door 1.2 with 69000 miles for £800 and it’s cheaper for me to run this with tax and insurance and still insure and tax my camper than to run the camper alone! It’s runs at about 3300 rpm at 65-70 so a bit frantic but you get used to it.
Bought a 2007 Micra four door 1.2 manual k12 here in NZ 2 years ago. One owner, garaged, 22000 klms mint. The fun of driving has returned, takes me back to my first car Red 850 mini 1874 FN, starter button on floor used for daily apprenticeship commute Dover to Ashford, year round along with all that British weather could deliver. Micra gives phenomenal mpg on my 300 klm 04.00 winter starts to central North Island fishing 🙂
They also make the k12 with a 1.4 88hp version which is the best all rounder I had a k12 as my first car and still have it ours is a 04 reg and only done 42k miles
If you want a temperature gauge, get a Bluetooth one reader and link it to a free app. I use car scanner. You can get temp reading and other things on it.

Just recently bought myself a stunning K10. I was considering a K12, but when the K10 came up for sale, nostalgia dictated I must buy it. I learnt to drive in a K10, many moons ago. I have previously owned a K11 and a P10 Primera.
Wow, I love K10s. I learned to drive in a T72 Bluebird, and it was my first car. Loved those cars so always had a soft spot for the Micras of the same era. Have never driven a P10 but I love the look of those too.
@@JJonCars If you get the chance to drive a P10, grab it! You will not believe how well they drive. Nissan was truly at it's very best when they designed that chassis. They handle like they're on rails, but also go over bumps and potholes like they're not even there. I was only 23 when I got my Primera, and it ran rings round my friends tuned up Saxos and Corsas.
This car's platform (which still exists to this day) was jointly developed by Nissan and Renault (the first since the creation of the Renault-Nissan alliance), no wonder this car is really comfortable. It also appears on the Micra 4, the Clio 3, the Modus, the Note, the Dacia Sandero and even the Renault Captur.
I bought an immaculate Gold 2006 sport's+ colour coded mirrors spoiler factory fitted body kit alloy wheels white dials fog lights etc etc NCT (mot)for €400 a year ago cracking little motor, I've only toped it up with oil and petrol.. I reckon it'll fly it's next test..
ive a micra 07 model, spirita automatic 1.4 petrol.... not motorway friendly but i can do about 120 miles on a quarter tank if i keep to the speed limits. first car after passing in feb 2024. but great around the local routes.
Polo necks are lovely... Cute car & cute guy😊 I ve always thought this Froggie looking car looks great... Its nice to be a bit different... I hope to get a 4 dr with Air con cos Warmer days are not far away😘🍨🌼
I got one from 2004 with a 1.4L engine. pretty zippy unfortunately mine is not very reliable it has a faulty fuel or oil pump and it keeps dying randomly even when the car is moving (I mean only the engine shuts down randomly/ I experience a sudden loss of power) I need to sort that problem out.. other than that the car always puts a smile on my face!
It's not just me who likes it 😹 it literally has an effect on people and it makes them smile! even EMO's 😹😹😹 when ever I tell someone about it they become cheerful and when they see it they smile 😹 Idk why but it really is as the title says "cheap and cheerful"
I have a 2004 diesel with lots of gadgets on it compared with the one you had here, things like aircon, keyless entry/go (locking it doesn't make that sound) rain sensor ABS and more, sadly it's gonna get destroyed this summer as I will trade it in for an EV
Oh nice, I love a high specified but cheap car - didn't know they could come with keyless entry/go! Shame, that it will die, but it's progress I suppose haha
Just bought one off a guy at work as needed a cheap little car to help my son learn to drive. Hopefully I’ve done the right thing! 2010 1.2 with 115,000 miles for £600. 🤞 😊

@@69elsaha That sounds a good price for a car that’s only done 68,000. They sound like reliable cars, so fingers crossed there won’t be any problems. !
Well, this comment might shock you.. I bought the Nisan Micra K12 (they are branded as Nissan March here in Kenya), because I really wanted a car and I didn't have much money. I think its the situation where you end up choosing a car because of how much you have.... The first time I drove it (I wasn't a good driver) it felt just basic.... But after cleaning the air intake, suddenly, everything changed. I don't know what Nissan did that makes the Micra K12 super fast, and very reliable... Or is it just my micra?? That little bug mooves... i travel home every month, like 370 miles, and I use 6 hours to get there in my K12 Micra.... Its got 240K miles on the odometer and yet it idles silently, revs nicely and runs like its got boost. Every one around me ended up adoring this car. I hope to give it to my son one day.
Hi Simon - you know what? It doesn't shock me :) They are great little cars and it's not a surprise that it has been a good car for you. Thanks for watching and commenting, it's nice to hear from someone in Kenya. Here's to a load more miles on the Micra!
I had 2005 se + from new it spent more time at dealer getting being repaired two sets of door locks new stirring wheel new pedal box I had more rattes then a set off maracas and six months after the warranty ran out the rear crank shaft oil seal started leaking it was the worst car I have owed Swapped it for a polo the best car I have owed
Wow, bad luck with that car! Maybe it was a 'Friday car'. Nissan can't even use the excuse that it had just come out as they'd been building them for a couple of years by then. I'll try and get a Polo on at some point 👍
Hi, I bought a K12 micra and realized it has a leak from the windshield washer fluid tank. The tank is always empty and doesn't hold any fluid at all. I checked the manual and couldn't find if it has a drainage cap, which could be missing in this one. Could anyone please throw some light on this?
My dad has a 2006 nissan micra 160sr it's pretty nippy he stage 2 tune it now its making 210hp and he full straight pipe it its a pretty good small car.
My dad just bought it for me, a 2015 Micra, it wasn't on my list of cars I wanted, and everyone is bullying the car and its shape, I'm a little disappointed, even though I like the size of it, I hope it's the best.
I think it's just an annoying noise. Maybe eventually it will break, but the owner of the car had it doing that for a long time and it didn't get any worse.
Hi last year I bought a micra. K12 auto with 27 K. Showroom condition, not even a finger print on the engine kept since 2004 in a centrally heated garage , I paid £4000 +. For this brand new auto. And it's been as you would expect ". Perfect. And cruising at 70 all day once the torque converter has locked up is wonderful. , get the auto. It's less revs. Also it does over 60 to the gallon, beautiful car. , 😊
If they are cared for, they are still reliable after 100k miles! If it looks in good shape and like someone has looked after it I'd say it should be ok
I don't have experience of it, but what I will say is - they are a light car with narrow tyres. So they should be quite good in the snow, a lot better than your bigger cars, especially stuff like BMWs and Mercs.
I think some of them do and some don't. It should be in front of the gear stick below the heater controls etc. But I'm guessing yours doesn't have it as I think it's in quite a visible location. Could always get a cheap headunit with aux input or bluetooth if you don't have it :)
@@JJonCars thank you :) I found the place it was hidden and I got a Bluetooth transmitter. Would you say the Nissan is reliable for short motorway journeys?
According to my insurance broker, the K12 Micra is a high end car. I asked them why my premium keeps going up despite my 20 plus years No Claims. The man replied that it's because in my area there's a problem with luxury and high end cars being stolen to order, making my 2003 Micra Automatic a high risk apparently. That, or insurance companies are just greedy money grabbing vultures who use any excuse to increase prices. One of those two things.
I am just guessing. But i think Nissan constructed the petrol engines. I mean look at the Clio from that period. They were belt driven , not chain driven. The 1.5 diesel was Renault built though.
Mauritius. Not to be compared to executives or..... ! But I fully agree with you. Ak12 is a very very nice car. Very comfortable. The roads of my country are very very bad. It's not like James Bond's. . But for our roads, this is an excellent and ideal vehicle. I hope you will find my comments, after
Gotta disagree about this one. My family had multiple 1st and 2nd gen Micras from the 1980’s to the 2000’s. Brilliant reliable little cars. But after Nissan’s forced merger with Renault in 1999 in the wake of the Asian currency crisis, it was with trepidation that I test drove the K12 micra. First thing I noticed was the way the exterior door handle slopped around from left to right. The seats felt like you were sitting on a cheap lumpy MFI sofa. Yup - Renault had turned our beloved Japanese supermini into another cheap Euro box. A downgrade from the K11 in virtually every aspect. Fortunately we managed to pick-up one of the last K11 Micras before transitioning to the Hyundai i10.
You can definitely see some of Renaults 'influence' in the car. They're not quite the same as they were but these K12s are still reliable well built cars

Nice one Jay. They're affordable motoring at it's best aren't they. A/C would have been a god send 😂
Thank you for the video,I am in love with my big little frog car.
Very good car we have a 2 door 1.4 auto on a 56 plate. had it for 5 years and it’s only got 35k on the clock! Don’t want to sell it but need something bigger now due to having young kids
Wow that's low mileage! 🤞 for you that you find something you like as much as the Micra
There is a secret storage compartment in the front passenger seat of my 2006 Micra K12 1.2 Sport
I only found out about the secret seat storage compartment after I did the review :D I'm not sure if this model had it or not though. Pretty cool feature.

Fantastic, detailed review, off to buy one on Friday, thank you
Excellent. Enjoy your new car!
I bought mine for 1200€ 3 years later it runs no problem.
Nice one, great to hear!
They also make the k12 with a 1.4 88hp version which is the best all rounder I had a k12 as my first car and still have it ours is a 04 reg and only done 42k miles
Bet it has a fair bit more torque than the 1.2. And better on the motorway? That's low mileage, you can keep it for years :)
@@JJonCars it was Owned by my grandma so it’s being taken care really well and on the motor is isn’t too bad but it’s mainly a commuter car 🚗
If you want a temperature gauge, get a Bluetooth one reader and link it to a free app. I use car scanner. You can get temp reading and other things on it.
i love mine i bought the 4 door 2015 micra sv model used with 137,000 kms on it it now has 143,000 in less than 3 weeks....i absolutely love it....im in canada near ottawa our capital.....great for zooming around in......i have nothing bad to say about it....i am mr maintenance so i will have this car for umpteen years to come.....im looking for a spare now that i will buy asap.....nice car in deed .........have a great day thanks for the review.....john

My wife has a black one. It seems to be a bump magnet. She parks in the NCP car parks in town and on return it has picked another little bump.
Haha... damn.
I loved my little frog 🐸 green 2003 micra 😂❤️
That's a good point - hopefully it's the comfort of a Renault with the reliability of a Nissan :)
I use k12 for food delivery there fast tough and reliable
Perfect car for that!
Good review! Thanks. Hopefully getting mine on a 57plate soon 🤗
Excellent, enjoy the car!
There is a storage box under the front passenger seat..lift sit part towards the front
Sounds like a total bargain :) Can't get much higher spec than that on a Micra too. Here's to years more of driving with it!
GOOD REVIEW & GOOD CAR.

Great cars. I have a 2010 N-TEC. Fab. Was this shot in Preston? Seem to recognise certain things.
It was! A lot in the Preston docks area :)
ive a micra 07 model, spirita automatic 1.4 petrol.... not motorway friendly but i can do about 120 miles on a quarter tank if i keep to the speed limits. first car after passing in feb 2024. but great around the local routes.
I've got a k13 micra 1.2 visia it's still got the same gear box wine and it's got manual mirrors I like it though its fun to drive
This is my first car, Got a K12 53 reg, Micra SX 1.2, and i love driving it :3

Yep, taxi drivers are the ones that know, given they will be in the car for so much more time and miles than anyone else 👍
Did you plan the filming, with the demolition of the former Baffito's Restaurant in the background, or was that just a coincidence?
It was a co-incidence! Made for an interesting backdrop though :)
Cracking wee car for under a grand 👍

I got one from 2004 with a 1.4L engine. pretty zippy unfortunately mine is not very reliable it has a faulty fuel or oil pump and it keeps dying randomly even when the car is moving (I mean only the engine shuts down randomly/ I experience a sudden loss of power) I need to sort that problem out.. other than that the car always puts a smile on my face!
I bet the 1.4 is quite zippy :) Hoping you can get it sorted soon, and good to hear you like the car otherwise! 👍
It's not just me who likes it 😹 it literally has an effect on people and it makes them smile! even EMO's 😹😹😹
when ever I tell someone about it they become cheerful and when they see it they smile 😹 Idk why but it really is as the title says "cheap and cheerful"
@@moazdaza7275 Haha that's awesome!
Hello, im interested if you still have problems or did you fix it?
I reckon so - good car to learn in, and that's a good price these days
I think that you done a great job
My partner needs to fix his car for next MOT, and spare car to drive. I need small car to learn how to drive, that is cheap to insure
We have a chance to buy Micra 2007, with only 68,000 miles for 600£
Cheapest insurance I can get for it is 660£ a year
My partner have over 30 years of experience with cars, and he recommends that Micra as a really good car for beginners
@@69elsaha That sounds a good price for a car that’s only done 68,000. They sound like reliable cars, so fingers crossed there won’t be any problems. !
I own a 2008 version and I never seen a modified one with over 300 HP. Seems rare to encounter one apart from that RWD VQ35 Nismo version.
I've certainly never seen a K12 with over 300hp either 😄
Nope they are all like that__ awesome little cars that don't mind rough roads.
Hi Simon, kim from eldoret. bought a march k12 with 150k on the meter runs like a breeze...very economical too.
Nice, I really want to try one of those!
@JJonCars it's very fast but my dad's one has got a straight pipe exhaust for it it sounds so good for a micra.
Ive a CR12 cant start changed computer box 4 times it cant still start, any advice please?
I have a 2005 1.0cc and im very heappy for take me to A to B whit style, the K12 its a Tank, the end.
Cool review.
Thank you!
My dad just bought it for me, a 2015 Micra, it wasn't on my list of cars I wanted, and everyone is bullying the car and its shape, I'm a little disappointed, even though I like the size of it, I hope it's the best.
Ah, shame. They're good cars but people don't like things that are different. Enjoy the car and try not to listen to other people!
Great review
Thanks Aaron!
Could you review the Nissan Note?
I'd like to, if I can find someone with one
5:42 is that actually something that needs replacing ? Will it damage anything or stop locking or is it just A noise
I think it's just an annoying noise. Maybe eventually it will break, but the owner of the car had it doing that for a long time and it didn't get any worse.
@@JJonCars ah right I bought one yesterday and it’s doing it but if it’s just a noise I’m not bothered, thanks for the reply pal
Also it does over 60 to the gallon, beautiful car. , 😊
Wow! That is amazing. Such low miles, sounds fantastic. Will last you years!
@@JJonCars well I hope so. , lol. Iv had new discs and tyres , can't find a fault anywhere, so fingers crossed 🤞 cheers
Hey mate - considering buying one of these as a cheap run around. From your experience do they still seem reliable after 100k miles?
If they are cared for, they are still reliable after 100k miles! If it looks in good shape and like someone has looked after it I'd say it should be ok
Man i love this car ,chep everything .
Do you know how these handle in snow not much just london
I don't have experience of it, but what I will say is - they are a light car with narrow tyres. So they should be quite good in the snow, a lot better than your bigger cars, especially stuff like BMWs and Mercs.
Does the 2005 Nissan micra have somewhere you can put an aux cable in? If so where is it?
I think some of them do and some don't. It should be in front of the gear stick below the heater controls etc. But I'm guessing yours doesn't have it as I think it's in quite a visible location. Could always get a cheap headunit with aux input or bluetooth if you don't have it :)
@@JJonCars thank you :) I found the place it was hidden and I got a Bluetooth transmitter. Would you say the Nissan is reliable for short motorway journeys?
@@shafahwasim3084 Good to hear you've sorted. Yes absolutely I don't see why not. Stick to the speed limit and it will be fine haha
Hahaha, typical insurance companies!
Yeah if you avoid the CR12. And the CR14. And the CVT behind the HR15
Also a good vehicle
How is the suspension on this car?
Quite comfortable for a small car I reckon :)
so is the petrol 1.2 not french?
No, only the diesel engine was Renault :)
Best car
Is the engine Renault or Nissan made??
I am just guessing. But i think Nissan constructed the petrol engines. I mean look at the Clio from that period. They were belt driven , not chain driven. The 1.5 diesel was Renault built though.
Mauritius. Not to be compared to executives or..... ! But I fully agree with you. Ak12 is a very very nice car. Very comfortable. The roads of my country are very very bad. It's not like James Bond's. . But for our roads, this is an excellent and ideal vehicle. I hope you will find my comments, after
Yep I still read all the comments, so thanks for commenting! Our roads aren't like James Bonds any more either 😆
Mm Theres two 1.2 engines that one should be a 64bhp due to the s package the inita model has the 80bhp engine but both engines are the same in torque
It's great! At least, mine is...
Sound like lawnmowers mums got one
👍Very interesting.
Cheers Marek!
you must be sweltering in this heat now buddy
It's... rather warm. Next video may or may not feature the turtleneck...
Cheaper than walking
Why is it that Nissan cars heat alot
Do they? :) The engines get hot? Or something else?
Froggy bwahahaha.... you're absolutely correct
It's a very feminine looking car
Yes, perhaps. It's certainly strange looking and an acquired taste.
Ps after 3 years.... ! Bye
Sorry, the k12 must be the worst looking version of Micra in the last 30 years.
Haha it's definitely a marmite kinda design. Can see how it's not to everyones tastes!
@@JJonCars lol I just realised I've had a K10, K11, K13, now K14. Just not a K12. 😅
