Spot on Lee, it was worth a punt and very well explained the reasoning behind buying it, not every car can be a golden goose. If it was that easy everyone would be at it but it's not easy, it takes skill, experience and a pinch of luck thrown into the mix.

I sold one like this, 55 plate, Grey, 3 dr 1.2S base model with only 84K, very well looked after with full history and it got alot of interest, these are good sellers and attract many who want a cheap reliable service. I am on the hunt for another in auctions but don’t come up often, I missed out on a nice Micra Sport + last week by £50. Cheap cars are popular at the moment.

It annoys me so much that people don't service a car when your local indy can do a basic filter and oil change for £100, anything with no history I give it a wide berth I assume the previous owner(s) just ragged it about. the spring could snap at anytime to be fair, i had one snap the other day driving it out of the auction. as for the wheel bearing again theu can deteriorate fast and you cant always diagnose a wheel bearing on a mot as easy as say a knackered ball joint. although to be fair i am always sceptical of 15 year old cars with little to no advisory items listed as nearly all will have them. not that it means its a bad car its just realistic to expect such things on a older vehicle.
