12/22/19. Open D chord tuning: DADF#AD. At 2:00, plucking A string 5th fret to plucking open baby E string sounds like the beginning of “ Somewhere Over The Rainbow”. Seriously, this video tutorial is better than listening to the original song itself. The sounds of your guitar in open D chord tuning and the harmonics sound beautiful... A nice segue from a Mumford and Sons’ tune is to play Sanford and Son’s theme song. Take care, Ryan.
Fantastic job as always mate, thanks for all your hard work. Lots of good stuff to work on here, can’t wait to try it and get to that rather fun looking walk
You zoom in on my CD collection? I bought this and never really listened to it. I know I'm getting better because my wife guesses what I'm playing now. Thanks 8) Can't wait to hear "going up to country" lesson. You practicing that flute?
Who's Donny? Plus, there are no offspring, siblings or any family members in the band! Marcus Mumford Ted Dwane Ben Lovett Winston Marshall (no longer a member)
@@aaronmartin9204 I came back to relearn this while I was in open D and flicked thru the comments. I know it’s a year late but supposedly the capo on or just behind the nut does help keep it in tune, but mostly the design of the Thalia capo means they’re easily stored there and moved around one handed. They’re great gear and beautiful too. I know Ryan doesn’t get notifications of replies to his replies so he wouldn’t have seen yours, don’t think he was being rude. Cheers mate
@@sammckelvey right on. No rudeness.. I can barely reply to my friends who messaged me today. I just realized I have a Thalia capo. Honestly, I don't really like it. It seems like it doesn't open wide enough to get over the neck and fretboard. I have to super squeeze it to get it wide enough. It's not a big neck either. Maybe I'm just a pansy. Good thing is that I really don't use Capo a lot. But, that's good info about keeps in tune with open tunings. Iwould think anything beyond the nut would mess with intonation ( that's what she said )
@@aaronmartin9204 haha. I read that whilst having a coffee out of my “Assistant to the Regional Manager” mug, nearly spat my coffee. My Thalia came with a big bag of different size rubber inserts so you can customise it to your guitar. Apparently I’ve got the right one in but it does get tight around the 9th fret, but there’s only one song I try up there so I don’t care
I may not make it to the end of this lesson, not hating, just saying. Changing gears from a Stone riff to this heee haaaa jig is doing my head in. This band has kicked ass the last couple of years on mainstream radio.... Ed Ved had them close OHANA 2018... so there’s that ... I just don’t fit into mainstream society ... why do I even try... I’m going back to the basement to bang on some drums or paint cans .... gotta get this twangy shite out of my head 🤣😂
Keep banging those paint cans Kara! If you don’t, who will? I’ve never fit mainstream either, but I’m too old to care & just like what I like. Fortunately Ryan is so cool he’ll teach me any of my random favourites, and with full gusto! Legend
Sam Mckelvey agreed.... Ryan can make a good time out of just about any darn thing ... he’s a good kid... 😂 I gotta take the piss once in a while 🤪 ✌️❤️🤘
You’re no fun Ryan. C’mon, pick your favourite child. Speaking of kids I meant to say my two especially loved the Sparky bit. Lots of Lampoons Christmas Vacation here 👍
Love the lesson on the this song and many other songs you have taught, keep being funny also.

Hey Ryan, why the capo below the nut? Is it a way to make a makeshift locking nut?
it's a thalia capo - next time you want to treat yo'self, do so with one of these babies they are the bee's pancreas
@@RyanLendt what is the purpose on the nut?

I can't learn this song because I'm still not awake. My third eye is still in my belly button, hasn't popped yet.
