The OG screens are laminated. It means the glass is touching the screen and there is a transparent adhesive between the two. You need special equipment to just replace the glass. It need to be applied in a hot vacuum chamber to avoid air between the glass and the screen and then cured with UV.
I recieved mine with an air bubble in it. I ordered a screen with a glass cover but it was not laminated. I had to mount it non laminated style. It is perfect but non laminated, bummer.

You still did a good job, I want to learn how to take stuff apart but I’m afraid I will end up destroying it.

Here is how I ease my mind. The screen was completely broken to begin with. I wasn’t going to make it any worse. If the option is to fix it or buy a new one. Then try to fix it (if the parts are cheap). If you can’t fix it, you were going to buy a new one anyway. I’ve replaced Phone screens, tablet screens, and thousands of other devices because the alternative was to trash it and get a new one. I have gotten many free devices because I said I would take the old broken item just to see how hard it would be to fix.

$14-20 bucks for a screen when a new one is $43 on sale. Understandable. I am guessing the price will drop once the demand for the screen has ginned up. Other screens are $7-8 in this category. I think $7 is worth putting the effort in. Or you may just want to turn it into a tv only device and not repair or replace at all.

Why replace Switch's sticks with more Switch's sticks. Those are worst sticks we have today.

They are Hall effect sticks from a different brand, not potentiometer based like Nintendo official sticks.
