Yes - I want to know your #2 question and your #3 question. I contacted K18 to ask if you are supposed to use a conditioner on days that you don't use the K18 mask after shampooing, and they said to use a conditioner of your choice, but wondering what Abbey recommends .
I use the k18 mask and instructions listed on the bottle specifically read, “do not use conditioner.” It states that you should wash your hair, rinse, towel dry, and then apply the K18 mask. You should then wait 5 minutes after applying the mask before adding anything else, such as a leave in spray conditioner.

I would highly recommend the K18 shampoo. I have type 4c hair and it does so well to remove buildup without stripping my hair. You also just need a teeny tiny amount, which is a shock for me, honestly.
I love how your not afraid to highlight the science without being a cosmetic chemist, most would be intimidated - show how much time you put into research and understanding it - love your stuff keep the vids coming!
Abby - would you consider doing 2 things? 1. I don’t think you have done a review on the Virtue hair products 2. Could you do an over all explanation of the various hair “treatments”, and how they are different. Example K18, Olaplex, Redkin bonding and Virtue. They all say they “repair” but how? How do I know which one I need? Can I use all of them and if so how? You explain things so well that it would be wonderful for you to do this.
I absolutely LOVE the Detox one. It gets the crap out in one good lather and I use heavy pomades. It actually replaced my beloved Color Wow shampoo. I have natural dry, coily hair that I wash weekly.
Seriously think you need to start washing your hair twice a week instead of dragging it to once a week with so much dry shampoo and buildup. That’s not good for your scalp or hair. Just wash it more. Also it’ll help hydrate your hair so the mids to ends don’t get as dry as they are for you.

The peptide prep shampoo has quickly become my favorite shampoo. It is unfortunately rare to find such a well formulated and simple shampoo. Yes it's expensive but most shampoos make my scalp itch and this doesn't. I was also so glad to see this didn't have MCI or MI preservatives as those cause such extreme scalp itch for me. All around they can take all my money.
I bought both of the shampoos yesterday from Sephora and can't wait to pair it with the mask. Love this review, Abbey! 😍 As far as the peptide effectiveness in a shampoo formulation, I had the same reservation. I plan to let the shampoo sit on my hair for 4 minutes to allow the K18 peptide to penetrate the hair shaft. Hopefully that'll help.
I love the shampoos but I think the whole micro dose thing is a gimmick. First it's used on soaking wet hair which they say is a no no with the mask and second most people aren't leaving shampoo in for 4 minutes.

I have straight hair imagine if your hair was curly def pass I’m going back Tmr to return it.
i have tried the original K18 when it came out, i did everything exactly how you re supposed to do it. No results after the first round. tried anothet round 3 month later..same. zero effect. Not sad about it though... from the money i save i buy Amica Products which seem cheap compared to K18😂🥳🙋🏼♀️❤️
It may also depend on how often you wash. Abbey mentioned both shampoos have C14-16 Olefin sulfonate. Normally I hate shampoos that have it super high up because I wash daily (pls don't try to talk me into doing it less frequently if you're someone who doesn't wash daily. I tried it and don't like it), so that may have something to do with whether people like it or not. That ingredient strips the frick out of my hair in almost every shampoo I've seen it in when it's high up.

I stopped using silicone in my shampoos and I no longer use conditioner. I only use the k18 leave in mask. I found that my hair is stronger and less frizzy.
oh noooooooo I really wanted to hate these 😭 im too broke for this. I'd want both sadly Im broke so If i got one it would have to be the detox. Then again to make it worth It i should probably have the mask which, again, too broke for lmao

Got my K18 detox prep shampoo today and wow it was a pleasant experience.. I used it five times in a row.. in the end the hair got a bit “knotty and fuzzy” but my scalp felt so clean it was really worth it. Very easy to massage into the whole scalp and it foams really well soon as it gets in contact with the hair. Applied 4 pumps k18 afterwards and it helped re move the knots and I could comb through my lengths. This will be a great shampoo after my bikram yoga class as my hair really needs a deep cleanse from all sweat and also a smoothing treatment. It will replace my Oribe moisture and control cleansing conditioner (ph 8!). The heat makes k18 absorb really well.
Does it say how much SA is in the detox shampoo? I use a 3% shampoo for psoriasis and always feel bummed that I can't use more exciting products. I'd love to try this!

Yes, as an example - Redken says their products are pH balanced. But when I reached out to Redken to ask the specific pH of their shampoos/conditioners, they would not answer the question. Suspect for sure

I just tried the Redken Hair Cleansing Cream (ph 4.5-5.5) and so far it’s great. But these look even better (that ph! 😮) and I am adding them to my cart NOW.

I've been using olaplex on my very bleached hair and no matter what i do, leave in conditioners, heat protectants, redken shampoo and conditioner, hair mask etc. My hair is still so dry and unhealthy. I've been through bottles of olaplex 3. I used the k18 mask today and my hair feels so much softer after one application. So i've just bought the k18 prep shampoo (not detox) and hoping to get some great results.
I am natural my hair texture is curly/coily/kinky and I’ve implemented a couple of your hair care suggestions such as the k18 leave in treatment, and amika bond repair product set …. Complete game changers for my hair my hair is super soft, has volume and body with less breakage ….whenever I have a salon visit I get loads of compliments on how healthy and beautiful my hair is….. so happy k18 has matching shampoos to go with their leave in treatment…. I purchased both and can’t wait to try them out paired with the leave in….. so happy both are at the optimal pH balance….. thanks Abbey for your thorough and well explained review!

The moment I saw Sephora launch 24 hour early access to this, I bought the maintenance shampoo ASAP 😂 I didn’t think twice!!!! I am a once a week washer, but don’t get too oily, so I am SOOOOO EXCITED for this! The olaplex clarifying shampoo was perfect for me- more than enough for my scalp, and I was on the hunt for a new shampoo… so perfect timing!!!! Amazing video as always, Abbey!!!! @@chantalszemenyei4523 I adore it. I have been using it every wash since this comment - as a double cleanse (unless I am using a clarifying. Then I use the olaplex clarifying and follow up with this if I don’t feel thoroughly cleansed). Honestly, I had been the person using moisturizing shampoos my whole life and never double cleansing. Switching to this k18 shampoo every wash has done WONDERS for my hair. Especially since I follow with the K18 mask ♥️
@@stuntdoll I have only been using the K18 clarifying and peptide prep shampoos in my rotation and have been loving it- BUT I thought the Olaplex clarifying was amazing as well, honestly. I do NOT have an oily scalp- I go 7-8 days without washing with no issue, and I still don’t clarify every week. Usually every couple of weeks. So for me, I do not need something super intense, and my hair is often dry- which is why the olaplex worked well for me too- it has some nice additional ingredients in there. The K18 is pretty straight forward- not stripping either. I think both are winners and would have to be a personal preference thing 💗 I find olaplex to FEEL thicker upon application if that is important to you 😊

Have you tried any of the Kerotin products? They are geared toward hair growth, being "natural," which I don't buy into the green beauty stuff, but almost everything I've used from them has been great. They use isethionates in their shampoos, which is a great clarifier to remove silicones and other buildup. Maybe try them out and let us know your thoughts. Thanks, Abbey!

I live K18...I don't like the overuse of the word "optimal". We had a health communications team that read all our patient pamphlets at the hospital where I worked to avoid saying one word too much. Use the dollar word once and then use dime phrases for higher impact

Just bought the K18 Detox Shampoo to try. I wash once a week and by the last day my dry shampoo is completely carrying the team and my scalp is so dirty! I’m excited to give it a try. I love the results I got from the K18 leave in mask so I hope this is good too.

But then went and exchanged for the detox one as I found a few reviews saying the detox one was better. And I do love it, it leaves my hair feeling so nice and clean. My hair gets a bit oily, I wash it every 4-5 days or so. I’m thinking to give the ph maintenance one a try after finishing the detox one. I've been using olaplex on my very bleached hair and no matter what i do, leave in conditioners, heat protectants, redken shampoo and conditioner, hair mask etc. My hair is still so dry and unhealthy. I've been through bottles of olaplex 3. I used the k18 mask today and my hair feels so much softer after one application. So i've just bought the k18 prep shampoo (not detox) and hoping to get some great results.

I am natural my hair texture is curly/coily/kinky and I’ve implemented a couple of your hair care suggestions such as the k18 leave in treatment, and amika bond repair product set …. Complete game changers for my hair my hair is super soft, has volume and body with less breakage ….whenever I have a salon visit I get loads of compliments on how healthy and beautiful my hair is….. so happy k18 has matching shampoos to go with their leave in treatment…. I purchased both and can’t wait to try them out paired with the leave in….. so happy both are at the optimal pH balance….. thanks Abbey for your thorough and well explained review!

Hi Abbey, another great video. Thank you! I recently started using the K18 mask after the Ouai Detox shampoo. What conditioner would you recommend after the pH maintenance shampoo? I don't always use the K18 mask after each wash so I am not sure which conditioner will play well with the shampoo.
The moment I saw Sephora launch 24 hour early access to this, I bought the maintenance shampoo ASAP 😂 I didn’t think twice!!!! I am a once a week washer, but don’t get too oily, so I am SOOOOO EXCITED for this! The olaplex clarifying shampoo was perfect for me- more than enough for my scalp, and I was on the hunt for a new shampoo… so perfect timing!!!! Amazing video as always, Abbey!!!! So grateful for you ♥️

@@chantalszemenyei4523 I adore it. I have been using it every wash since this comment - as a double cleanse (unless I am using a clarifying. Then I use the olaplex clarifying and follow up with this if I don’t feel thoroughly cleansed). Honestly, I had been the person using moisturizing shampoos my whole life and never double cleansing. Switching to this k18 shampoo every wash has done WONDERS for my hair. Especially since I follow with the K18 mask ♥️

@@stuntdoll I have only been using the K18 clarifying and peptide prep shampoos in my rotation and have been loving it- BUT I thought the Olaplex clarifying was amazing as well, honestly. I do NOT have an oily scalp- I go 7-8 days without washing with no issue, and I still don’t clarify every week. Usually every couple of weeks. So for me, I do not need something super intense, and my hair is often dry- which is why the olaplex worked well for me too- it has some nice additional ingredients in there. The K18 is pretty straight forward- not stripping either. I think both are winners and would have to be a personal preference thing 💗 I find olaplex to FEEL thicker upon application if that is important to you 😊

Thanks for this! I had ordered the detox one and was hoping you liked it. Question- you wash twice with it or do one wash with this and a 2nd with a different shampoo, as this is more clarifying?
Have you tried any of the Kerotin products? They are geared toward hair growth, being "natural," which I don't buy into the green beauty stuff, but almost everything I've used from them has been great. They use isethionates in their shampoos, which is a great clarifier to remove silicones and other buildup. Maybe try them out and let us know your thoughts. Thanks, Abbey!

Thank you so much for this review. Been looking at these shampoos because I have been using the mask for awhile. When you use them do you use your other masks and conditioners that you use regularly? I imagine when you use K18 mask you would use their shampoos, but other times when you use one of the shampoos, you use your favorite masks and conditioners? I just bought both. I am definitely going to be trying out the clarifying shampoo. K18 has been a game changer in my hair journey so far.
I live K18...I don't like the overuse of the word "optimal". We had a health communications team that read all our patient pamphlets at the hospital where I worked to avoid saying one word too much. Use the dollar word once and then use dime phrases for higher impact
scalp oribe pink or detox k18, which one has the better nutritional composition? K18 has a pH of 3.5-4.5, so what is oribe pink? Please someone answer me which is better, my hair needs weak pH and rich nutrients

Just bought the K18 Detox Shampoo to try. I wash once a week and by the last day my dry shampoo is completely carrying the team and my scalp is so dirty! I’m excited to give it a try. I love the results I got from the K18 leave in mask so I hope this is good too.
Omg I’m so happy u came out with this review 😍🥰 I was looking for it a couple weeks ago when I purchased the ph maintenance shampoo. But then went and exchanged for the detox one as I found a few reviews saying the detox one was better. And I do love it, it leaves my hair feeling so nice and clean. My hair gets a bit oily, I wash it every 4-5 days or so.
I’m thinking to give the ph maintenance one a try after finishing the detox one.
I’m also using the K18 treatment mask and so far I’m in love with it 😍❤️

I got the one that's ph maintenance one and was confused, wondering if I got the right one, so, I started looking for a video to explain and bring my blood pressure down (joking but not joking). All the videos I watched prior to this told me a lot of nothing. Your explanation was great. Now, I think I got the right one. Thank you.
