I have been coffee free for the last year! my digestive system had improved so so much and now I finally use the true energy my body produces instead of that quick burst of energy that coffee use to give me creating a lot of metabolic damage. So often I had to increase the amount of caffeine to feel the energy until my body started to break down and I had to stop coffee to recover from the process. My Sleep had also improved so much! Coffee is a drug to me that I was addicted too. Not being able to trust my own body's ability to create natural energy is what coffee caused me. I have peers that can't function if they don't drink 4 or more cups in a day... this is sad!

Derek, I just happened to stumble upon your RUclips channel the other day, and I am so glad I did, because I am loving your videos! I don't know if I'm a slow caffeine metabolizer or not, but coffee definitely messes with my digestion, so I have switched to something called Teeccino, I believe it's pronounced tee-chee-no. It's available on Amazon and comes in a variety of flavors. It has no caffeine and no acid, so for those out there with sensitive tummies like mine, it's a great alternative. It comes in tea bags, but is dark like coffee and has more body than tea...in my humble opinion. Though I'm not sure if it has any antioxidant benefits, hmmm. Anyway, just another hot beverage option to check out. It's also great cold or iced like an iced coffee in the summer.

My partner used to be a big coffee drinker for many years, but within the last 2-3 years he had to give it up because it was causing panic attacks. Tea seems to be an okay source of caffeine for him, but more than one rum and coke at a time is also bad news (not that we actually drink all that much pop/soda in this house, but the one time he tried to have two back to back didn't end nicely).

Yes, everything you described is me. I learned a long time ago I'm sensitive to caffeine. Back in my, I'm not proud of, energy drink days. I didn't realize just how sensitive until a few months after drinking coffee. It was when I was drinking coffee the digestive issues started. I now drink decaf on occasion.

I’ve actually switched to the same thing you’re doing! I make matcha and chai teas, and I find matcha is VERY tolerable. In fact, it gives me some of the energy of coffee without the sense of dread and anxiety. I always thought it was because the caffeine was released more slowly due to being locked up in the fiber/cellulose of the ground up green tea leaves, but didn’t know about the jitter-blunting effects of L-Theanine.

Hey brother, love your channel. A few months ago, I started making a few changes suggested by :- Simnett Nutrition, Chef AJ, John Rose, Dan McDonald, Lou Corona and Prof. Caldwell Esselstyn and Dr. John McDougall and so on to benefit my health. Shortly before that I was in hospital to have a pre-op check for blood pressure. They were going to insert a grommet in the ear drum of my left ear and were testing to how my heart would react to general anesthetic. I drank a Lemon Ginger Blast for breakfast for 3 months and my hearing returned to normal so the op became unnecessary. To the original point, I had a coffee 3 hours before arriving at the hospital and they made me sit for another 3 hours before taking readings for blood pressure. They mentioned something about the arteries constricting and driving blood pressure up, due to some component in the coffee. Sadly, I missed the scientific medical jargon they used but the upshot was coffee effects your arteries and not in a good way. So if you have Coronary Heart Disease or any heart related problems then avoiding coffee might be a good idea. Best Wishes to yourself and everyone at Simnett Nutrition. Many thanks Pat.

I'm a chocoholic too so I can't even limit my intake I just went cold turkey. Plus I think it contains milk also, and that doesn't help the hearing as it causes mucus, wax and fluid and so on. So a week of salads and vegetables with the LGB and you'll be in great shape in no time. All the best sister. Blessings.

Great video again! :) I'm a big coffee lover, but I also have some issues with coffee. I usually drank one latte every morning with my breakfast. However, sometimes I got headaches in the morning, especially when I went to my parent's place over the weekend where I slept in. I also noticed I got it when I was home. On one day I made the connection it could be from my coffee, since I was in such a hurry going to work I forgot to make coffee and had no time to drink coffee at work till 2pm. Again I got such a bad headache. So as it wasn't the first time, I made the connection to my coffee consumption. I read a lot about caffeine sensitivity and even I only drank 1 or two a day, I was a junky. So I didn't want to be a caffeine junky and dependant on something I could not always get. That's why I quit coffee for 3 weeks. The first week I felt the withdrawal, with lots of headaches. They went away after 5 days. After 3 weeks I only drank one coffee a week on the weekend. I kept doing this for months until I read that if you pick the right time of drinking coffee, it won't make you such a junky :) So it's best not to drink coffee first thing in the morning, because it binds to the receptors which prevents you from waking up naturally. So I noticed I don't get headaches any more when I drink my coffee at like 10am and 2pm.... Let's talk about ANXIETY! I also noticed I had anxiety. Even when drinking coffee at the right time of the day. However, this happened not always. I also noticed that when I changed my coffee to a different brand, I didn't get anxiety. So it could also be other compounds in coffee that are present but not in the same amount in every brand of coffee or cultivar. Furthermore, I read that coffee can lead to higher adrenalin, which could lead to anxiety. If you want, just look into "best time to drink coffee", "cortisol and coffee", "adrenalin and coffee". It's very interesting :)

I was not expecting that intro but I love it! I definitely feel like I have a slow caffeine matabolic rate. I go back and forth with coffee, I'll drink it everyday for a few months, I'll get tired of the side effects (which do become more noticeble over time), and then I'll kick it for a few months.
Lately though instead of coffee I'll eat a single dark chocolate covered maca espresso bean. It's just enough to wake up the brain and help get you focused, especially after you've gone a week or so without coffee.
